Digital aerial imagery, collected for the National Agriculture Imagery (NAIP) program at 1 meter resolution was classified to a Green Infrastructure Level 1 classification scheme with the following classes: 1) Non Woody Vegetation, 2)Woody Vegetation, 3) Impervious, 4) Water and 5) Bare Soil. The image was classified using Classification and Regression Tree techniques (CART analysis) and raster modeling. The classification accuracy assessment gave an overall accuracy of 95.25%This 2012 update is the result of a change detection process which buillt on the original 2008 classification. Changed areas were updated, and several other classification scheme changes were made, such as the reclassification of pools as impervious surfaces.

This dataset is better suited for derived layers such as slope angle, aspect, and contours. The DTM was created from LiDAR point cloud tiles subsampled to 1-meter postings, acquired by the National Center for Airborne Laser Mapping (NCALM) project. This data was collected in collaboration between the University of Colorado, Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research (INSTAAR) and NCALM, which is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). The DTM has the functionality of a map layer for use in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or remote sensing software. Total area imaged is 35 km^2. The LiDAR point cloud data was acquired with an Optech 1233 Airborne Laser Terrain Mapper (ALTM) and mounted in a twin engine Piper Chieftain (N931SA) with Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) at a flying height of 600 m. Data from two GPS (Global Positioning System) ground stations were used for aircraft trajectory determination. The continuous DTM surface was created by mosaicing and then kriging 1 km2 LiDAR point cloud LAS-formated tiles using Golden Software's Surfer 8 Kriging algorithm. Horizontal accuracy and vertical accuracy is unknown. The layer is available in GEOTIF format approx. 265 MB of data. It has a UTM zone 13 projection, with a NAD83 horizonal datum and a NAVD88 vertical datum computed using NGS GEOID03 model, with FGDC-compliant metadata. A shaded relief model was also generated. A similar layer, the Digital Surface Model (DSM), is a first-stop elevation layer. A processing report and readme file are included with this data release. The DTM is available through an unrestricted public license. The LiDAR DEMs will be of interest to land managers, scientists, and others for study of topography, ecosystems, and environmental change. NOTE: This EML metadata file does not contain important geospatial data processing information. Before using any NWT LTER geospatial data read the arcgis metadata XML file in either ISO or FGDC compliant format, using ArcGIS software (ArcCatalog > description), or by viewing the .xml file provided with the geospatial dataset.

TwitterThe PALEOMAP project produces paleogreographic maps illustrating the Earth's plate tectonic, paleogeographic, climatic, oceanographic and biogeographic development from the Precambrian to the Modern World and beyond.
A series of digital data sets has been produced consisting of plate tectonic data, climatically sensitive lithofacies, and biogeographic data. Software has been devloped to plot maps using the PALEOMAP plate tectonic model and digital geographic data sets: PGIS/Mac, Plate Tracker for Windows 95, Paleocontinental Mapper and Editor (PCME), Earth System History GIS (ESH-GIS), PaleoGIS(uses ArcView), and PALEOMAPPER.
Teaching materials for educators including atlases, slide sets, VHS animations, JPEG images and CD-ROM digital images.
Some PALEOMAP products include: Plate Tectonic Computer Animation (VHS) illustrating motions of the continents during the last 850 million years.

TwitterThis layer contains details about access to open space in King County. This digital document has been developed for the Determinant of Equity - Parks and Natural Resources presentation. It includes information about Access to Open Green Space equity indicator. Fields describe the total population (Total Pop), number of people who live within 1/4 mile for urban areas 2 miles for rural areas of a green space (Quarter_and_2mi_WithinPop), and the percentage of people who live within 1/4 mile for urban areas 2 miles for rural areas of a green space (Percent_Quarter_or_2mile).
The data was compiled by King County GIS Center. The current Urban Growth Area/Boundary from the Comprehensive Plan was used to determine whether a residence (address point used as a population point) was considered urban (with criteria within ¼ mile of an open space) or rural (with criteria within 2 miles of an open space). Open space was defined by the countywide PARK layer and any other areas within the PSRC Open Space layer that were not already included in the PARK layer. In this analysis, a vacant, brush covered lot with no way to tell it is owned by a parks department has the same value as a developed park with ball fields and play areas. Regional Trails are also included as open space, when the surrounding property is publicly owned. A traditional buffer is used for this open space analysis, because to do a network analysis would require the location of road access points for all 1400+ parks in King County. Some of these routes contain bike lanes or other facilities designed specifically for bicyclists traveling within the four corners of the Commonwealth. Every bicyclist is responsible for his or her personal safety and welfare and for remaining alert and mindful of conditions on the roads or trails. TwitterThis digital dataset presents the oil and gas fields of Utah at a 1:700,000 scale. The Uinta and Paradox Basins in eastern and southeastern Utah, respectively, produce the majority of the hydrocarbons in the state. The map also shows major basins and uplifts, national parks, monuments, and recreation areas, township and range, counties, major cities, major roads, major water bodies, Precambrian rocks, Tertiary and Quaternary volcanic rocks and intrusions, the eastern extent of Sevier orogenic thrusting, and pipelines. The oil and gas field polygons are colored by the age of the major producing reservoir. Field names are colored by commodity produced (red for gas, green for oil, and purple for CO2). Beneath each field label are listed the producing reservoir rocks, field designations, and reservoir designations. Any designations listed after reservoirs are applicable only to the afore-written reservoir. For example, the Lodgepole field polygon in Summit County is colored green for Jurassic, and the field label is also green, designating an oil field. Beneath the name “Lodgepole” is listed “(D) (HD) Jtc, Jn (A)” and from this we understand Lodgepole field has a produced water disposal project and horizontal drilling, is currently producing from the Jurassic Twin Creek Limestone and used to produce from the now-abandoned Jurassic Nugget Sandstone. The oil and gas pipelines are colored according to the products they transport (green for crude oil, red for natural gas, purple for CO2, and brown for refined products). Labels along the pipeline have an acronym referring the current operator, the diameter of the line, and direction of flow. This CD contains geographic information system (GIS) fields in an Environmental Systems Research Institute (Esri) file geodatabase and shapefile formats. A Portable Document Format (PDF) of the map is also included and requires Adobe Reader to view which can be downloaded at www.adobe.com. Specialized GIS software is required to use the GIS files.
