The Vegetation Health Index (VHI) illustrates the severity of drought based on the vegetation health and the influence of temperature on plant conditions. The VHI is a composite index and the elementary indicator used to compute the seasonal drought indicators in ASIS: Agricultural Stress Index (ASI), Drought Intensity and Weighted Mean Vegetation Health Index (Mean VHI).If the index is below 40, different levels of vegetation stress, losses of crop and pasture production might be expected; if the index is above 60 (favorable condition) plentiful production might be expected. VHI is very useful for an advanced prediction of crop losses.

    Phenomenon Mapped: Vegetation Health Index

    Units: None

    Time Interval: 10-day

    Time Extent: 1984-Present

    Cell Size: 1 km

    Pixel Type: 32-bit Signed Integer

    Data Projection: WGS 1984

Mosaic Projection: WGS 1984 Web Mercator

Source: Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations

Update Cycle: 10-days + 5 days lagVHI combines both the Vegetation Condition Index (VCI) and the Temperature Condition Index (TCI). The TCI is calculated using a similar equation to the VCI, but relates the current temperature to the long-term maximum and minimum, as it is assumed that higher temperatures tend to cause a deterioration in vegetation conditions. A decrease in the VHI would, for example, indicate relatively poor vegetation conditions and warmer temperatures, signifying stressed vegetation conditions, and over a longer period would be indicative of drought. In ASIS, VHI is computed in two temporal granularities: dekadal and monthly. The dekadal/monthly VHI raster layer published is further updated in the following 5 dekads (improve data precision, remove cloud pixel etc.).Flags of raster file: 251=missing, 252=cloud, 253=snow, 254=sea, 255=backgroundExplore this and related data in this web applicationMore information please visit FAO GIEWS Earth Observation website.

    Description

This dataset contains the State and Year-wise Fiscal Health Index (FHI) ranking. This index is formulated by NITI Aayog for Major States in India to get insights into the fiscal condition of states.

The Composite Fiscal Health Index (FHI) is computed as the average of five major sub-indicators: Quality of Expenditure (developmental expenditure as a share of total expenditure, and capital outlay as a share of GSDP), Revenue Mobilisation (state’s own revenue as a share of GSDP and of total expenditure), Fiscal Prudence (gross fiscal deficit and revenue deficit as shares of GSDP), Debt Index (interest payments as a share of revenue receipts, and outstanding liabilities as a share of GSDP), and Debt Sustainability (difference between GSDP growth rate and growth rate of interest payments). Each major sub-indicator is based on the average of its normalised minor sub-indices, and the final FHI score is the average of the five major sub-indicator scores for each state.

    Description

The Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) is a scale designed to help quantify the quality of the air in a certain region on a scale from 1 to 10. When the amount of air pollution is very high, the number is reported as 10+. It also includes a category that describes the health risk associated with the index reading (e.g. Low, Moderate, High, or Very High Health Risk). The AQHI is calculated based on the relative risks of a combination of common air pollutants that are known to harm human health, including ground-level ozone, particulate matter, and nitrogen dioxide. The AQHI formulation captures only the short term or acute health risk (exposure of hour or days at a maximum). The formulation of the AQHI may change over time to reflect new understanding associated with air pollution health effects. The AQHI is calculated from data observed in real time, without being verified (quality control).

This records an increase from the previous number of 70.800 Index for Mar 2025. South Korea Smalll Business Health Index (SBHI): Economic Outlook (EO) data is updated monthly, averaging 78.100 Index from Jan 2015 (Median) to Apr 2025, with 124 observations. The data reached an all-time high of 89.600 Index in Sep 2017 and a record low of 55.600 Index in Apr 2020. South Korea Smalll Business Health Index (SBHI): Economic Outlook (EO) data remains active status in CEIC and is reported by Korea Federation of SMEs. The data is categorized under Global Database’s South Korea – Table KR.S: Small Business Health Index. The SBHI (Small Business Health Index) is an index calculated by subdividing the responses into a 5-point scale and multiplying each frequency by a weight. If it is over 100, it indicates that there are more companies that expect the next month's economy to improve than those that do not. Less than 100 means the opposite. Series break at January 2015 to December 2022, as the Monthly Small & Medium Business Economic Outlook Survey and the Non-Manufacturing Small & Medium Business Economic Trend Survey were merged. Series break at January 2023, due to the sampling frame change. The Corporate Statistics Register is now being used instead of the National Business Survey.

    Description

The Vegetation Health Index (VHI) is based on a combination of products extracted from vegetation signals, namely the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and the land surface temperature, both derived from MODIS satellite data. The NDVI is based on 8 day maximum value composite MOD09Q1 (v006) reflectance and the land surface temperature (LST) on 8 day MOD11A2 (v006) LST products. The spatial resolution is 231 m, therefore the original 1000 m resolution of the MOD11A2 LST is downscaled to 231 m of the MOD09Q1 reflectance. Both products are masked to the highest quality standards using the provided quality layers. Missing pixel values in the time series are linearly interpolated. Non-vegetated areas are masked using the most recent Corine Land Cover product version for the according year. The final product is regridded to the LAEA Projection (EPSG:3035). The VHI relies on a strong inverse correlation between NDVI and land surface temperature, since increasing land temperatures are assumed to act negatively on vegetation vigour and consequently to cause stress. The data is provided as 8 day measures. The time series is starting from 2001. The VHI values range from 0-100, whereas high values correspond to healthy vegetation and low values indicate stressed vegetation.
