Ce tableau des reboisements annuels par chantier fait état des réalisations de l’ODEF depuis sa création.Il permet de constater la grande dispersion des reboisements,puisque seule la forêt d’ETO présente plus de 1000 ha avec le projet AFRI.
En additionnant les chiffres de 1985(17900Ha) à ceux des réalisations de l’ODEF de 1986 à 1989 (2608 ha) et à quelques autres reboisements dans le cadre du projet comme « Aménagement et reboisement forestier »on retrouve un total de 21000 ha. Comme plusieurs reboisements privés ou villageois sont plus ou moins pris en compte, un tableau réaliste de la situation ne pourra être établi qu’après un inventaire national.

Une analyse montre que les forêts denses, qui couvraient 449000 ha en 1970, n’en couvre plus que 287000 en 1980.Cette diminution correspond presque exactement à la proportion des forêts qui servaient de couvertures, en 1971, aux cultures pérennes de café et de cacao (33% de 449000).
Des études parallèles Banque Mondiale/ PNUD et FAO/CTFT établissaient le rythme de dégradation de forêts denses à 6000 ha par année. Ce taux apparait très faible par rapport au constat établit ci-dessus qui indique un taux de déboisement de 15000 ha/année était conservé, la forêt dense ne couvrirait plus en 1990 qu’environ 140000 ha, ce qui correspondrait aux constats de terrain ou des ilots de forêts plus ou moins intactes n’ont été retrouvés que dans l’Adélé (sud de FAZAO) et dans les périphéries de la forêt d’abdoulaye (Bagou à Issati).
Cette hypothèse peut se justifier par l’introduction d’une nouvelle variété de café, supposée de pleine lumière, et par l’extension des cultures de coton qui ont aussi amené à la disparition de plusieurs massifs forestiers,notamment dans l’est Mono, Haito et Adélé, et même celle de quelques plantations forestières (Tetenou sud et Nord).
