The Future Land Use map reflects the county’s recommended land uses and densities and guides land use decisions. When a new land use development is proposed that is not in keeping with the recommended land use designated on the FLU map, the Board of Supervisors may determine that an amendment to the plan is warranted. Also, changing growth trends and patterns or recommendations from small area studies conducted as part of the implementation of the Plan may warrant a land use amendment.Future Land Use is updated with the completion of a Comprehensive Plan, or as that Comprehensive Plan is amended.
