Scientific data provenance is the information required to document the history of an item of data, including how it was created and how it was transformed. Data provenance has great potential to improve the transparency, reliability, and reproducibility of scientific results. However it has been little used to date by domain scientists because most systems that collect provenance require scientists to learn specialized software tools and jargon. This project is developing tools that allow scientists to collect, visualize, and query provenance directly from the R statistical language. The first tool (RDataTracker) is a library of R functions that can be downloaded and installed as an R package. RDataTracker allows the scientist to collect data provenance during an R console session or while executing an R script. The resulting provenance is stored on the scientist's computer as a DDG (data derivation graph) file. The second tool (DDG Explorer) is a stand-alone Java program that can be downloaded and run to visualize, store, and query DDGs. The third tool is an R script (DDGCheckpoint.R) may be used with RDataTRacker to create and restore checkpoints that store the R environment and user files. Documentation for all tools is included with the RDataTracker package or may be downloaded separately.

This is a database containing all the HFR atomic data needed to compute the opacity of all neutral to trebly-ionized elements between Ca (Z=20) and Lr (Z=103) in the context of kilonova emission following neutron star mergers, as well as expansion and line-binned opacity tables for a grid of conditions, namely a time t = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 days after the merger ; an ejecta density \rho = 1E-17, 1E-16, 1E-15, 1E-14, 1E-13 g/cm^3 ; and an ejecta temperature T = 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000, 7000, 8000, 9000, 10000 K. A table of Planck mean expansion opacities for all the elements is also provided for this grid of conditions.
The details of the computations can be found in our paper: Deprince J. et al., "Kilonova ejecta opacity inferred from new large-scale HFR atomic calculations in all elements between Ca (Z=20) and Lr (Z=103)", in press (Astronomy & Astrophysics, 2025); arXiv:2412.16688 [astro-ph.HE]. The present data have been obtained in tight collaboration between the University of Mons (UMONS) and the University of Brussels (ULB), in Belgium.
Note that the present version (v2) replaces version 1 (v1) that is obsolete. In this new version, we have corrected an error in the previous data for Pb (Z=82).
Description of the files:
1) Atomic data:
All the three compressed files include two types of files, namely outglv and outggf files:
2) Opacity tables :

Surface ocean velocities estimated from High Frequency (HF)-Radar are representative of the upper 2.4 meters of the ocean. The main objective of near-real time processing is to produce the best product from available data at the time of processing. Radial velocity measurements are obtained from individual radar sites through the U.S. HF-Radar Network. Hourly radial data are processed by unweighted least squares on a 6km resolution grid of the Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands to produce near real-time surface current maps. acknowledgement=HFR-US-PuertoRicoVirginIslands HF Radar Network has been established within the Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS) program. area=Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands calibration_link=CDDO: hfrnet.administrators@sio.ucsd.edu; FARO: hfrnet.administrators@sio.ucsd.edu; FURA: hfrnet.administrators@sio.ucsd.edu; MABO: hfrnet.administrators@sio.ucsd.edu; PYFC: hfrnet.administrators@sio.ucsd.edu calibration_type=CDDO: APM; FARO: APM; FURA: APM; MABO: APM; PYFC: APM cdm_data_type=Grid citation=These data were collected and made freely available by the Copernicus project and the programs that contribute to it. Surface current data measured by the CNR-ISMAR HF radar network are made available in graphical format for the last 48 hours and in real time and delayed mode via a THREDDS catalog which provides metadata and data access. The web site gives information on HF radar technology, sites position and operational parameters, and links to the THREDDS catalog. The catalog offers different remote-data-access protocols such as Open-source Project for a Network Data Access Protocol (OpenDaP), Web Coverage Service (WCS), Web Map Service (WMS) (OGS standards), as well as pure HTTP or NetCDF-Subsetter. They allow for metadata interrogation and data download (even sub-setting the dataset in terms of time and space) while embedded clients, such as GODIVA2, NetCDF-JavaToolsUI and Integrated Data Viewer, grant real-time data visualization directly via browser and allow for navigating within the plotted maps, saving images, exporting-importing on Google Earth, generating animations in selected time intervals. The data on the THREDDS catalog are organized in two folders, collecting the hourly current files of the last five days and grouping all the historical data. The two folders are accessible both in aggregated and in non-aggregated configuration.
The data set consists of maps of radial and total velocity of the sea water surface current collected by the HF radars within the Italian Coastal Radar Network established in the framework of the Italian flagship project RITMARE. Surface ocean velocities estimated by HF Radar are representative of the upper 0.3-2.5 meters of the ocean. The radar sites are operated according to Quality Assessment procedures and data are processed for Quality Control. Data access tools are compliant to Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), Climate and Forecast (CF) convention and INSPIRE directive. The use of netCDF format allows an easy implementation of all the open source services developed by UNIDATA.
