    School funding: exceptional costs associated with coronavirus (COVID-19)

    Financial assistance available to schools to cover increased premises, free school meals and additional cleaning-related costs associated with keeping schools open over the Easter and summer holidays in 2020, during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

    Coronavirus (COVID-19) free school meals: additional costs

    Financial assistance available to meet the additional cost of the provision of free school meals to pupils and students where they were at home during term time, for the period January 2021 to March 2021.

    Alternative provision: year 11 transition funding

    Financial assistance for alternative provision settings to provide additional transition support into post-16 destinations for year 11 pupils from June 2020 until the end of the autumn term (December 2020). This has now been updated to include funding for support provided by alternative provision settings from May 2021 to the end of February 2022.

    Coronavirus (COVID-19) 2021 qualifications fund for schools and colleges

    Financial assistance for schools, colleges and other exam centres to run exams and assessments during the period October 2020 to March 2021 (or for functional skills qualifications, October 2020 to December 2020). Now updated to include claims for eligible costs under the 2021 qualifications fund for the period October 2021 to March 2022.

    National tutoring programme: academic mentors programme grant

    Financial assistance for mentors’ salary costs on the academic mentors programme, from the start of their training until 31 July 2021, with adjustment for any withdrawals.

    This file contains workforce absence statistics for education settings from 12 October 2020 to 17 December 2020 and again following wider reopening of schools, from 8 March 2021 to 16 September 2021. It excludes half term terms (19th October - 23rd October, and 2nd November 2020), the national lockdown during the spring term (4 January to 5 March 2021), Easter data (29 March - 19 April 2021) and summer holiday (17 July 2021 - 6 September 2021).     Description

    An important activity for many people over the Christmas period is to put up Christmas decorations, such as trees and lights. Shops are no exceptions and join in with the festive decorations during the busy holiday trading period. Over half of British adults believe November is an appropriate time for shops to put up Christmas decorations and displays, according to a 2021 survey. Only *** percent of respondents thought that shops could leave their decorations up all year round.

    UK Christmas spending In their own homes, roughly ******* of men and women in the UK planned to spend up to ** British pounds on decorations, making it the most common expected budget for decorations. However, half of men planned to spend more than this. Overall, Christmas sales in the United Kingdom are expected to rise, after a slight fall in 2020, mainly due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. In 2021, sales are predicted to reach **** billion British pounds.

    Where do decorations come from?
    The overwhelming majority of Christmas decorations come from China. It is the biggest supplier of Christmas decorations in the world, exporting * billion U.S. dollars’ worth of Christmas decorations in 2020. The next biggest exporter was the Netherlands with *** million U.S. dollars’ worth of exports. When it comes to Christmas trees, however, many trees come from the Nordic countries. Denmark, for instance, exports trees all around Europe.
