    Description

Heating oil price in the United States has peaked in winter 2022/23 at 4.31 U.S. dollars per gallon and has decreased ever since. Heating oil is a liquid petroleum product that is, among other things, used in residential buildings as a fuel oil in furnaces or boilers. Chemically, most heating oils are similar to motor diesel fuels and are often sold interchangeably. Forecast heating price in the U.S. The average price of heating oil in the United States in the winter of 2024/25 is expected to reach 3.44 U.S. dollars per gallon. Energy prices are projected to see a decrease this winter, because of increased production of heating fuels. The number of heating degree days, which are the days in which the average temperature is below 18 degrees Celsius (65 degrees Fahrenheit), also helps quantify the energy demand required to heat a building. What determines heating oil price? Generally, heating oil prices are collected during the heating season between October and March. In the U.S., the greatest determining factor for heating oil prices is the WTI crude oil price. Consumers can lower heating oil bills by considering when they purchase, reducing consumption, and through government assistance programs.

The refined petroleum products market in Malaysia represents a vital and dynamic component of the country's energy framework, essential for fulfilling domestic energy requirements and facilitating economic activities. As a prominent oil producer in Southeast Asia, Malaysia processes crude oil into a range of products such as gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and lubricants, which are indispensable for transportation, industrial operations, and various other uses. The market is supported by sophisticated refining infrastructure, with key refineries strategically positioned to serve both local and regional demands. Recent developments indicate a trend towards increasing refinery capacities and implementing cleaner technologies to comply with international environmental standards. In its efforts to lower carbon emissions, Malaysia is placing greater emphasis on the production of low-sulfur fuels and investing in more energy-efficient refining methods. Furthermore, the market is subject to the volatility of global oil prices, shifts in domestic energy policies, and competition from regional players. The government's initiative to diversify energy sources and explore renewable energy options also plays a significant role in shaping market dynamics. Despite facing these challenges, the refined petroleum products market in Malaysia demonstrates resilience, supported by strategic investments and robust demand. The sector's future growth will depend on its capacity to adapt to changing energy trends and regulatory environments while continuing to satisfy both domestic and regional energy requirements. Recent developments include: June 2023: The automobile company Ford launched a new variant of the car known as Ranger Raptor, which consists of a 2.0 L bi-turbo diesel version. According to the company, the diesel variant has the highest efficiency levels and is relatively cheaper than the petrol variants., April 2022: Petroleum Sarawak Berhad launched a multi-fuel station in DarulHana that is likely to cater to vehicles that are powered by hydrogen, electricity, petrol, or diesel.. Key drivers for this market are: Surge in Demand of Refined Petroleum Products4., Need for Sustainable Refined Petroleum Products. Description

The Southeast Asia Refined Petroleum Products market is experiencing robust growth, driven by increasing industrialization, expanding transportation sectors, and rising energy consumption across Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and the rest of the region. A compound annual growth rate (CAGR) exceeding 4% from 2019-2033 indicates a significant upward trajectory. Key market segments include automotive fuels (dominating due to increasing vehicle ownership), marine fuels (fueled by regional maritime trade), aviation fuels (linked to air travel growth), and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for residential and commercial use. Growth is further propelled by rising disposable incomes and urbanization, leading to increased demand for energy-intensive activities. However, the market faces challenges such as fluctuating crude oil prices, government regulations aimed at promoting renewable energy sources, and environmental concerns regarding carbon emissions. Major players like BP, Shell, TotalEnergies, Pertamina, ExxonMobil, and Chevron are actively competing in this dynamic market, with local players also maintaining a significant presence. The market is expected to witness further consolidation as companies strive to optimize efficiency and expand their market share. While precise regional breakdowns are unavailable, Indonesia, given its large population and economy, likely holds the largest share, followed by Malaysia and Thailand. The "Rest of Southeast Asia" segment's growth is likely to be influenced by factors like economic development and infrastructure investments in individual countries. The forecast period (2025-2033) presents lucrative opportunities for market expansion. Strategic partnerships, investments in refining capacity upgrades, and diversification into cleaner fuel technologies will be crucial for success. The industry's response to environmental concerns, including investments in sustainable practices and exploring biofuels, will significantly shape the market's future trajectory. While challenges remain, the Southeast Asia Refined Petroleum Products market is poised for considerable expansion, promising significant returns for investors and industry players who adapt proactively to the evolving landscape. Recent developments include: September 2022: Equinor and Global Petro Storage (GPS) jointly commissioned liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) storage terminal in Malaysia. The fully automated facility at Port Klang will enable "cost-advantaged shipments" of very large gas carriers (VLGCs) into Malaysia. The terminal features two 60,000 cubic meters of refrigerated tanks for the storage of propane and butane, as well as four pressurized bullet tanks for the storage of pressurized LPG., May 2022: Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), the national oil company of Malaysia, and Saudi Aramco, the national oil company of Saudi Arabia, have collaborated to restart the refinery-petrochemical complex in Malaysia. The refinery has a 300,000 BPD capacity and is equipped to develop refined petroleum products, including jet fuel, motor gasoline, and diesel, meeting Euro 5 fuel specifications., March 2021: Indonesia's national energy giant PT Pertamina announced plans to relocate its USD 10-billion oil refinery project from Bontang in East Kalimantan after terminating a preliminary agreement with Oman's Overseas Oil and Gas.. Notable trends are: Automotive Fuel to Dominate the Market.
