The dataset provides a list of 15 characteristics for California hospitals for State Fiscal Year 2019-20, including; Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) ID, HCAI Provider Name, Designated Neonatal Intensive Care Unit status as defined by DHCS, Designated Public Hospital status, Non-designated Public Hospital, HCAI Rural Hospital status, DHCS Designated Remote Rural status, Cost–to-Charge Ratio, Wage Index Value, Wage Index Value-Adjusted for California Neutrality Factor, Unadjusted Statewide Base Rate, Wage-Adjusted Statewide Base Rate, Rehab Rate, Admin 2 190 Rate and Admin 2 199 Rate. This dataset does not include psychiatric hospitals, alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities, or designated public hospitals.

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Center for Health Care Quality, Licensing and Certification (L&C) Program licenses and certifies more than 30 types of healthcare facilities. The Electronic Licensing Management System (ELMS) is a CDPH data system created to manage state licensing-related data and enforcement actions. This file includes California healthcare facilities that are operational and have a current license issued by the CDPH and/or a current U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) certification.

To link the CDPH facility IDs with those from other Departments, like HCAI, please reference the "Licensed Facility Cross-Walk" Open Data table at https://data.chhs.ca.gov/dataset/licensed-facility-crosswalk. Facility geographic variables are updated monthly, if latitude/longitude information is missing at any point in time, it should be available when the next time the Open Data facility file is refreshed.

The Hospital Price Transparency Enforcement Activities and Outcomes dataset contains information related to enforcement actions taken by CMS following a compliance review of a hospital's obligation to establish, update and make public a list of the hospital’s standard charges for items and services provided by the hospital, in accordance with regulation (45 CFR 180). This data set includes the name of each hospital or hospital location, the hospital or hospital location address, the outcome or action following a CMS compliance review and the date of the outcome or action taken.

This dataset provides a list of hospitals that include medical centers in the USA with detailed geolocation identifiers, such as latitude and longitude of each hospital. The information about the location of hospitals was obtained by geocoding of addresses and then was corrected using satellite images. It includes only hospital facilities and does not include nursing homes. The dataset represents the location of hospitals for 50 states and Washington D.C., Puerto Rico and US territories.

The Open Database of Healthcare Facilities (ODHF) is a listing of health facilities across Canada. Facilities are classified into one of three types: ambulatory health care services, hospitals, and nursing and residential care facilities. The listing contains the names, addresses, and geo coordinates of facilities, as well as the facility type as assigned in the data source. The ODHF is based on data from authoritative sources that include among them all levels of government and public health and professional healthcare bodies. The ODHF is released as open data under the Open Government License - Canada and provided as a zipped comma-separated values (.csv) file.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) required EMS Region XI (Chicago area) hospitals to report hospital capacity and patient impact metrics related to COVID-19 to CDPH through the statewide EMResource system. This requirement has been lifted as of May 9, 2023, in alignment with the expiration of the national and statewide COVID-19 public health emergency declarations on May 11, 2023. However, all hospitals will still be required by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to report COVID-19 hospital capacity and utilization metrics into the HHS Protect system through the CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network until April 30, 2024. Facility-level data from the HHS Protect system can be found at healthdata.gov. Until May 9, 2023, all Chicago (EMS Region XI) hospitals (n=28) were required to report bed and ventilator capacity, availability, and occupancy to the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) daily. A list of reporting hospitals is included below. All data represent hospital status as of 11:59 pm for that calendar day. Counts include Chicago residents and non-residents. ICU bed counts include both adult and pediatric ICU beds. Neonatal ICU beds are not included. Capacity refers to all staffed adult and pediatric ICU beds. Availability refers to all available/vacant adult and pediatric ICU beds. Hospitals began reporting COVID-19 confirmed and suspected (PUI) cases in ICU on 03/19/2020. Hospitals began reporting ICU surge capacity as part of total capacity on 5/18/2020. Acute non-ICU bed counts include burn unit, emergency department, medical/surgery (ward), other, pediatrics (pediatric ward) and psychiatry beds. Burn beds include those approved by the American Burn Association or self-designated. Capacity refers to all staffed acute non-ICU beds. An additional 500 acute/non-ICU beds were added at the McCormick Place Treatment Facility on 4/15/2020. These beds are not included in the total capacity count. The McCormick Place Treatment Facility closed on 05/08/2020. Availability refers to all available/vacant acute non-ICU beds. Hospitals began reporting COVID-19 confirmed and suspected (PUI) cases in acute non-ICU beds on 04/03/2020. Ventilator counts prior to 04/24/2020 include all full-functioning mechanical ventilators, with ventilators with bilevel positive airway pressure (BiPAP), anesthesia machines, and portable/transport ventilators counted as surge. Beginning 04/24/2020, ventilator counts include all full-functioning mechanical ventilators, BiPAP, anesthesia machines and portable/transport ventilators. Ventilators are counted regardless of ability to staff. Hospitals began reporting COVID-19 confirmed and suspected (PUI) cases on ventilators on 03/19/2020. CDPH has access to additional ventilators from the EAMC (Emergency Asset Management Center) cache. These ventilators are included in the total capacity count. The Children’s Health Act 2018 came into effect on 1st January 2019. Under this act, Children’s Health Ireland was established and all assets, liabilities and records were transferred from Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin, Temple Street Children’s University Hospital and National Children's Hospital at Tallaght University Hospital to the new body. From 1st January 2019, all NTPF reports reflect this change and data from the three sites of Children’s Health Ireland are reported as one entity. On the 31st of July 2019 Children's Health Ireland opened a new Paediatric Outpatient Department and Urgent Care Centre at CHI Connolly in Blanchardstown. The waiting lists for this site are incorporated into the Children's Health Ireland figures. Please note that NTPF does not collect activity data, i.e., numbers treated or removed. A snapshot of the number of patients waiting in each hospital is collected and published, monthly, on the NTPF website. Boards and management of individual public hospitals are responsible for the accuracy and the integrity of patient data submitted to NTPF. The NTPF commenced publishing separate Adult and Child Waiting List Reports in April 2021. The Open Data report formats reflect this change from that date forward.
