The CT Municipalities layer consists of individual polygons representing each of the 169 municipalities that make up the state of Connecticut. This feature class is based on the Towns layer originally created by CTDEEP from USGS maps. The towns from the CTDEEP data were dissolved to create 169 records (one for each town). Fields were added and deleted to create a generic schema.The CT Municipalities feature class was created in (municipality) alphabetical order. Fields were added to identify the municipality number and the CTDOT Municipality number, which differ from each other in some cases. In 1947 the town of Saybrook officially changed its name to Deep River. Other State agencies and municipalities changed their numbering systems to reflect this name change, however, most of what is now CTDOT kept their existing numbering system. This is why the CTDOT town number for Deep River is 122, the number formerly assigned to Saybrook.The square miles associated with each town are for their interior land mass area. Coastal communities have boundaries that extend into Long Island Sound. These town boundary extensions into Long Island Sound are not included in the square miles field.CTDOT has created and will maintain a cartographic rendering of the geometric shape of Municipal boundaries. Official Town and City designations as incorporated areas consisting of an authorized governing body are managed by CT's Office of Policy and Management (OPM).CTDOT has undertaken a good faith effort to represent the boundaries cartographically in a fair and equitable fashion, from the best available data compiled from existing state, regional, and local resources including - existing historical cartographic renderings of the boundary locations, supplemental survey information, and map submissions. This data identifies current as well as proposed zoning and land use designations that are adopted by ordinances for unincorporated Pierce County. Zoning for cities is not included in this dataset. Zones are adopted by ordinances with specific technicalities for each community. Land Use designations offer a broad spectrum of allowable uses within a community. It is used to create a Comprehensive Plan Map or used for a Generalized Proposed Land Use Map or GPLUM. This dataset is also used to create the Land Use Designations theme, which covers proposed zoning use. The meaning of proposed is that the property might not be currently used for the purpose stated. It should be noted that Council adopted amendments to land use designations/zoning that will be effective at the beginning of 2006. Also, the Council is in the process of adopting the Mid-County Community Plan which amends land use designations/zoning as well. The Cities polygons found in the zoning data does not necessarily match the current cities boundaries. This is because the zoning data is updated once a year per the "Pierce County Comprehensive Plan" and does not allow for changes to be made during the year. The Comprehensive Plan is generally updated in November and generally becomes effective the following March. Use the "Cities in Pierce County" data set to determine current city boundaries. City boundaries can change more often than the current adopted Pierce County Zoning data. The zoning data contains the "Cities in Pierce County" boundaries at the time that the Pierce County Zoning was adopted. When determining the current zoning of a parcel near a city, the current "Cities in Pierce County" data set needs to be reviewed. Zoning codes for parcels within incorporated cities are determined by the city that the parcel is within. This GIS datalayer represents approximate service areas for Public Water Systems (PWS) in Massachusetts. In 2017, as part of its “Enhancing Resilience and Emergency Preparedness of Water Utilities through Improved Mapping” (Critical Infrastructure Mapping Project ), the MassDEP Water Utility Resilience Program (WURP) began to uniformly map drinking water service areas throughout Massachusetts using information collected from various sources. Along with confirming existing public water system (PWS) service area information, the project collected and verified estimated service area delineations for PWSs not previously delineated and will continue to update the information contained in the datalayers. As of the date of publication, WURP has delineated Community (COM) and Non-Transient Non-Community (NTNC) service areas. Transient non-community (TNCs) are not part of this mapping project.
Layers and Tables:
The MassDEP Estimated Public Water System Service Area data comprises two polygon feature classes and a supporting table. Some data fields are populated from the MassDEP Drinking Water Program’s Water Quality Testing System (WQTS) and Annual Statistical Reports (ASR).
The Community Water Service Areas feature class (PWS_WATER_SERVICE_AREA_COMM_POLY) includes polygon features that represent the approximate service areas for PWS classified as Community systems.The NTNC Water Service Areas feature class (PWS_WATER_SERVICE_AREA_NTNC_POLY) includes polygon features that represent the approximate service areas for PWS classified as Non-Transient Non-Community systems.The Unlocated Sites List table (PWS_WATER_SERVICE_AREA_USL) contains a list of known, unmapped active Community and NTNC PWS services areas at the time of publication.

Data Universe
Public Water Systems in Massachusetts are permitted and regulated through the MassDEP Drinking Water Program. The WURP has mapped service areas for all active and inactive municipal and non-municipal Community PWSs in MassDEP’s Water Quality Testing Database (WQTS). Community PWS refers to a public water system that serves at least 15 service connections used by year-round residents or regularly serves at least 25 year-round residents.
All active and inactive NTNC PWS were also mapped using information contained in WQTS. An NTNC or Non-transient Non-community Water System refers to a public water system that is not a community water system and that has at least 15 service connections or regularly serves at least 25 of the same persons or more approximately four or more hours per day, four or more days per week, more than six months or 180 days per year, such as a workplace providing water to its employees.
These data may include declassified PWSs. Staff will work to rectify the status/water services to properties previously served by declassified PWSs and remove or incorporate these service areas as needed.
Maps of service areas for these systems were collected from various online and MassDEP sources to create service areas digitally in GIS. Every PWS is assigned a unique PWSID by MassDEP that incorporates the municipal ID of the municipality it serves (or the largest municipality it serves if it serves multiple municipalities). Some municipalities contain more than one PWS, but each PWS has a unique PWSID. The Estimated PWS Service Area datalayer, therefore, contains polygons with a unique PWSID for each PWS service area.
A service area for a community PWS may serve all of one municipality (e.g. Watertown Water Department), multiple municipalities (e.g. Abington-Rockland Joint Water Works), all or portions of two or more municipalities (e.g. Provincetown Water Dept which serves all of Provincetown and a portion of Truro), or a portion of a municipality (e.g. Hyannis Water System, which is one of four PWSs in the town of Barnstable).
Some service areas have not been mapped but their general location is represented by a small circle which serves as a placeholder. The location of these circles are estimates based on the general location of the source wells or the general estimated location of the service area - these do not represent the actual service area.
Service areas were mapped initially from 2017 to 2022 and reflect varying years for which service is implemented for that service area boundary. WURP maintains the dataset quarterly with annual data updates; however, the dataset may not include all current active PWSs. A list of unmapped PWS systems is included in the USL table PWS_WATER_SERVICE_AREA_USL available for download with the dataset. Some PWSs that are not mapped may have come online after this iteration of the mapping project; these will be reconciled and mapped during the next phase of the WURP project. PWS IDs that represent regional or joint boards with (e.g. Tri Town Water Board, Randolph/Holbrook Water Board, Upper Cape Regional Water Cooperative) will not be mapped because their individual municipal service areas are included in this datalayer.

PWSs that do not have corresponding sources, may be part of consecutive systems, may have been incorporated into another PWSs, reclassified as a different type of PWS, or otherwise taken offline. PWSs that have been incorporated, reclassified, or taken offline will be reconciled during the next data update.
Methodologies and Data Sources
Several methodologies were used to create service area boundaries using various sources, including data received from the systems in response to requests for information from the MassDEP WURP project, information on file at MassDEP, and service area maps found online at municipal and PWS websites. When provided with water line data rather than generalized areas, 300-foot buffers were created around the water lines to denote service areas and then edited to incorporate generalizations. Some municipalities submitted parcel data or address information to be used in delineating service areas.
Verification Process
Small-scale PDF file maps with roads and other infrastructure were sent to every PWS for corrections or verifications. For small systems, such as a condominium complex or residential school, the relevant parcels were often used as the basis for the delineated service area. In towns where 97% or more of their population is served by the PWS and no other service area delineation was available, the town boundary was used as the service area boundary. Some towns responded to the request for information or verification of service areas by stating that the town boundary should be used since all or nearly all of the municipality is served by the PWS.

This street centerline lines feature class represents current right of way in the City of Los Angeles. It shows the official street names and is related to the official street name data. The Mapping and Land Records Division of the Bureau of Engineering, Department of Public Works provides the most current geographic information of the public right of way. The right of way information is available on NavigateLA, a website hosted by the Bureau of Engineering, Department of Public Works. Street Centerline layer was created in geographical information systems (GIS) software to display Dedicated street centerlines. The street centerline layer is a feature class in the LACityCenterlineData.gdb Geodatabase dataset. The layer consists of spatial data as a line feature class and attribute data for the features. City of LA District Offices use Street Centerline layer to determine dedication and street improvement requirements. Engineering street standards are followed to dedicate the street for development. The Bureau of Street Services tracks the location of existing streets, who need to maintain that road. Additional information was added to Street Centerline layer. Address range attributes were added make layer useful for geocoding. Section ID values from Bureau of Street Services were added to make layer useful for pavement management. Department of City Planning added street designation attributes taken from Community Plan maps. The street centerline relates to the Official Street Name table named EASIS, Engineering Automated Street Inventory System, which contains data describing the limits of the street segment. A street centerline segment should only be added to the Street Centerline layer if documentation exists, such as a Deed or a Plan approved by the City Council. Paper streets are street lines shown on a recorded plan but have not yet come into existence on the ground. These street centerline segments are in the Street Centerline layer because there is documentation such as a Deed or a Plan for the construction of that street. Previously, some street line features were added although documentation did not exist. Currently, a Deed, Tract, or a Plan must exist in order to add street line features. Many street line features were edited by viewing the Thomas Bros Map's Transportation layer, TRNL_037 coverage, back when the street centerline coverage was created. When TBM and BOE street centerline layers were compared visually, TBM's layer contained many valid streets that BOE layer did not contain. In addition to TBM streets, Planning Department requested adding street line segments they use for reference. Further, the street centerline layer features are split where the lines intersect. The intersection point is created and maintained in the Intersection layer. The intersection attributes are used in the Intersection search function on NavigateLA on BOE's web mapping application NavigateLA. The City of Los Angeles Municipal code states, all public right-of-ways (roads, alleys, etc) are streets, thus all of them have intersections. Note that there are named alleys in the BOE Street Centerline layer. Since the line features for named alleys are stored in the Street Centerline layer, there are no line features for named alleys in those areas that are geographically coincident in the Alley layer. For a named alley , the corresponding record contains the street designation field value of ST_DESIG = 20, and there is a name stored in the STNAME and STSFX fields.List of Fields:SHAPE: Feature geometry.OBJECTID: Internal feature number.STNAME_A: Street name Alias.ST_SUBTYPE: Street subtype.SV_STATUS: Status of street in service, whether the street is an accessible roadway. Values include a general remark, the Council File number, which refers the street status, or whether a private street is a private driveway. The Council File number can be researched on the City Clerk's website http://cityclerk.lacity.org/lacityclerkconnect/INT_ID_FROM: Street intersection identification number at the line segment's start node. The value relates to the intersection layer attribute table, to the CL_NODE_ID field. The values are assigned automatically and consecutively by the ArcGIS software first to the street centerline data layer and then the intersections data layer, during the creation of new intersection points.
