    Description

    This table contains consumer prices for electricity and gas. Weighted average monthly prices are published broken down into transport rate, delivery rates and taxes, both including and excluding VAT. These prices are published on a monthly basis. The prices presented in this table were used to compile the CPI up to May 2023. Prices for newly offered contracts were collected. Contract types that are no longer offered, but have been in previous reporting periods, are imputed. The average can therefore diverge from the prices paid for energy contracts by Dutch households. Data available from January 2018 up to May 2023. Status of the figures: The figures are definitive. Changes as of 17 July 2023: This table will no longer be updated. Due to a change in the underlying data and accompanying method for calculcating average energy prices, a new table was created. See paragraph 3. Changes as of 13 February: Average delivery rates are not shown in this table from January 2023 up to May 2023. With the introduction of the price cap, the average energy rates (delivery rates) of fixed and variable energy contracts together remained useful for calculating a development for the CPI. However, as a pricelevel, they are less useful. Average energy prices from January 2023 up to May 2023 are published in a customized table. In this publication, only data concerning new variable contracts are taken into account When will new figures be published? Does not apply.

    This table shows the average prices paid for natural gas and electricity. The total prices represent the sum of energy supply prices and network prices.

    The total price is the price paid by an end-user, for instance a household or an industrial company consuming energy in their production process. Natural gas used for non-energy purposes or for electricity generation is excluded from the data.

    The price cap set by the Dutch government for 2023 has now been incorporated into the prices.

    Data available from: 1st semester of 2009

    Status of the figures: The figures in this table are provisional for the two most recent semesters, and the annual figures follow the status of the second semester of the relevant reporting year. The remaining figures are final.

    Changes as of September 30: Figures for the first half of 2024 have been added.

    When will new figures be published? New provisional figures will be published three months after the semesters end, at the end of September and at the end of March.

    Energy production, trade and consumption statistics are provided in total and by fuel and provide an analysis of the latest 3 months data compared to the same period a year earlier. Energy price statistics cover domestic price indices, prices of road fuels and petroleum products and comparisons of international road fuel prices.

    Energy production, trade and consumption

    Highlights for the 3 month period December 2022 to February 2023, compared to the same period a year earlier include:

    • Primary energy consumption in the UK on a fuel input basis fell by 5.7%, with higher energy prices a key factor in reduced consumption levels. On a temperature adjusted basis consumption fell by 6.9%. (table ET 1.2)
    • Indigenous energy production fell by 5.8%, due to falls in oil production and nuclear output due to outages. (table ET 1.1)
    • Russian imports have ceased. The UK has not imported any Russian gas since March 2022, and there have been no Russian oil imports since December 2022. (table ET 4.4) and (table ET 3.14)
    • Gas exports up 84%; the UK has been playing a key role in supplying gas to Europe as it looks to move away from Russian gas. (table ET 4.3)
    • Electricity generation by Major Power Producers down 5.8%, with coal down 25%, gas down 5.1%, nuclear down 13% with output in February 2023 at a record low monthly level, and renewables down 2.4% due to less favourable weather conditions for wind generation.* (table ET 5.4)
    • Renewables provided a record high 44.4% of electricity generation by Major Power Producers, with gas at 37.0%, nuclear at 15.2% and coal at 2.5%.* (table ET 5.4)
    • Low carbon share of electricity generation by Major Power Producers up 0.4 percentage points at 59.6%, whilst fossil fuel share down 0.4 percentage points at 39.8%.* (table ET 5.4)

    *Major Power Producers (MPPs) data published monthly, all generating companies data published quarterly.

    Description

    These workbooks contain modeled estimates of long-run marginal emission rates (LRMER) for the contiguous United States. The LRMER is an estimate of the rate of emissions that would be either induced or avoided by a long-term (i.e., more than several years) change in electrical demand. It incorporates both the projected changes to the electric grid, as well as the potential for an incremental change in electrical demand to influence the structural evolution of the grid (i.e., the building and retiring of capital assets, such as generators and transmission lines). It is therefore distinct from the more-commonly-known short-run marginal, which treats grid assets as fixed. The Levelized LRMER worksheet within each workbook is set up to produce a levelized long-run marginal emission rate based on user-provided inputs. These levelized LRMER values are intended for analysts to use when estimating the emissions induced (or avoided) by a long-term change in end-use electricity demand. There are two workbooks that supply the data at two different geographic resolutions: states and GEA regions (20 regions that are similar to, but not exactly the same as, the US EPA's eGRID regions). For more data underlying these emissions factors, see the Cambium 2021 project at https://cambium.nrel.gov/.     IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ DISCLAIMER BEFORE USING DATA. To reduce the energy burden on income-qualified households within New York State, NYSERDA offers the EmPower New York (EmPower) program, a retrofit program that provides cost-effective electric reduction measures (i.e., primarily lighting and refrigerator replacements), and cost-effective home performance measures (i.e., insulation air sealing, heating system repair and replacments, and health and safety measures) to income qualified homeowners and renters. Home assessments and implementation services are provided by Building Performance Institute (BPI) Goldstar contractors to reduce energy use for low income households. This data set includes energy efficiency projects completed since January 2018 for households with income up to 60% area (county) median income.

    D I S C L A I M E R: Estimated Annual kWh Savings, Estimated Annual MMBtu Savings, and First Year Energy Savings $ Estimate represent contractor reported savings derived from energy modeling software calculations and not actual realized energy savings. The accuracy of the Estimated Annual kWh Savings and Estimated Annual MMBtu Savings for projects has been evaluated by an independent third party. The results of the impact analysis indicate that, on average, actual savings amount to 54 percent of the Estimated Annual kWh Savings and 70 percent of the Estimated Annual MMBtu Savings. The analysis did not evaluate every single project, but rather a sample of projects from 2007 and 2008, so the results are applicable to the population on average but not necessarily to any individual project which could have over or under achieved in comparison to the evaluated savings. The results from the impact analysis will be updated when more recent information is available. Some reasons individual households may realize savings different from those projected include, but are not limited to, changes in the number or needs of household members, changes in occupancy schedules, changes in energy usage behaviors, changes to appliances and electronics installed in the home, and beginning or ending a home business.     Over the past half a century, the world's electricity consumption has continuously grown, reaching approximately 27,000 terawatt-hours by 2023. Between 1980 and 2023, electricity consumption more than tripled, while the global population reached eight billion people. Growth in industrialization and electricity access across the globe have further boosted electricity demand. China's economic rise and growth in global power use Since 2000, China's GDP has recorded an astonishing 15-fold increase, turning it into the second-largest global economy, behind only the United States. To fuel the development of its billion-strong population and various manufacturing industries, China requires more energy than any other country. As a result, it has become the largest electricity consumer in the world. Electricity consumption per capita In terms of per capita electricity consumption, China and other BRIC countries are still vastly outpaced by developed economies with smaller population sizes. Iceland, with a population of less than half a million inhabitants, consumes by far the most electricity per person in the world. Norway, Qatar, Canada, and the United States also have among the highest consumption rates. Multiple contributing factors such as the existence of power-intensive industries, household sizes, living situations, appliance and efficiency standards, and access to alternative heating fuels determine the amount of electricity the average person requires in each country.

    During the financial year 2023, the average cost of state electricity supplied in India was 7.11 Indian rupees per kilowatt-hour. Furthermore, that same year, the South Asian country was the third largest electricity producer in the world. Short-term transactions on the rise The electricity market in India has seen significant growth in short-term transactions and power exchange activity. During the fiscal year 2023, the volume of short-term electricity transactions exceeded 194 terawatt-hours, which marked a four percent increase from the previous year. During the same time, electricity transacted through power exchanges was approximately 103 terawatt-hours, the highest number ever recorded. These trends indicate a more dynamic and flexible electricity market across the country. Shift towards renewable energy In the fiscal year 2023, over 8.25 million Renewable Energy Certificates were traded on power exchanges, highlighting the country's commitment to sustainable energy sources. Moreover, India transitioned from being a net importer of electricity to a net exporter of electricity in 2023, exporting around 11 terawatt-hours. The shift shows the success of policies aimed at enhancing India's energy self-reliance and its potential as a regional power supplier.

    This table shows the consumption and producer prices of energy. Energy consumption figures for total energy commodities, natural gas, crude oil, hard coal and other energy commodities are primary consumption. Figures for electricity are final consumption. The figures for producer prices refer to energy available for domestic consumption. This is the price of producers or importers for the delivery of the energy product. Data is available from January 1995 up to December 2017 Status of the figures Energy consumption: All figures from 1995 up to 2014 are definite. Figures of 2015 up to 2016 are revised provisional and figures of 2017 are provisional. Producer price: All figures from 1995 up to July 2017 are definite. Figures from August 2017 are provisional. The status of the figures will not be changed, because this table has been discontinued. Changes as of January 31th 2019: None. This table has been discontinued. Because of the change of the baseline of the producer price index, this table cannot be continued. When will new figures be published? Not applicable anymore.

Description

This dataset, compiled by NREL using data from ABB, the Velocity Suite and the U.S. Energy Information Administration dataset 861, provides average residential, commercial and industrial electricity rates by zip code for both investor owned utilities (IOU) and non-investor owned utilities. Note: the file includes average rates for each utility, but not the detailed rate structure data found in the OpenEI U.S. Utility Rate Database. A more recent version of this data is also available through the NREL Utility Rate API with more search options. This data was released by NREL/Ventyx in February 2011.
