    About this dataset

    Context

    The dataset tabulates the population of Russia by gender across 18 age groups. It lists the male and female population in each age group along with the gender ratio for Russia. The dataset can be utilized to understand the population distribution of Russia by gender and age. For example, using this dataset, we can identify the largest age group for both Men and Women in Russia. Additionally, it can be used to see how the gender ratio changes from birth to senior most age group and male to female ratio across each age group for Russia.

    All the data for this dataset is provided from CARMA: Data from CARMA (www.carma.org) This dataset provides information about Power Plant emissions in Russia. Power Plant emissions from all power plants in Russia were obtained by CARMA for the past (2000 Annual Report), the present (2007 data), and the future. CARMA determine data presented for the future to reflect planned plant construction, expansion, and retirement. The dataset provides the name, company, parent company, city, state, metro area, lat/lon, and plant id for each individual power plant. Only Power Plants that had a listed longitude and latitude in CARMA's database were mapped. The dataset reports for the three time periods: Intensity: Pounds of CO2 emitted per megawatt-hour of electricity produced. Energy: Annual megawatt-hours of electricity produced. Carbon: Annual carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. The units are short or U.S. tons. Multiply by 0.907 to get metric tons. Carbon Monitoring for Action (CARMA) is a massive database containing information on the carbon emissions of over 50,000 power plants and 4,000 power companies worldwide. Power generation accounts for 40% of all carbon emissions in the United States and about one-quarter of global emissions. CARMA is the first global inventory of a major, sector of the economy. The objective of CARMA.org is to equip individuals with the information they need to forge a cleaner, low-carbon future.     This dataset comprises over 5,000 high-quality audio recordings collected from various in-car environments. These recordings include scripted wake words and command-type prompts.

    Participant Diversity:

    - Speakers: 50+ native Russian speakers from the FutureBeeAI Community.

    - Regions: Ensures a balanced representation of Russia1 accents, dialects, and demographics.

    - Participant Profile: Participants range from 18 to 70 years old, representing both males and females in a 60:40 ratio, respectively.

    Recording Nature: Scripted wake word and command type of audio recordings.

    - Duration: Average duration of 5 to 20 seconds per audio recording.

    - Formats: WAV format with mono channels, a bit depth of 16 bits. The dataset contains different data at 16kHz and 48kHz.

    BackgroundIn migration and health research, the healthy migrant effect has been a common finding, but it usually pertains to specific contexts only. Existing findings are inconsistent and inconclusive regarding the cognitive functioning of the (aging) foreign-origin population relative to the populations of their host and sending countries. Moreover, this comparison is an understudied design setting.ObjectiveWe analyze the outcomes and associations of cognitive functioning outcomes of the non-institutionalized middle-aged and older population, comparing the Russian-origin population in Estonia with Estonians in Estonia and Russians in Russia in a cross-sectional design. We aim to estimate the (long-term) effects of migration on cognitive functioning in later life, contextualizing the findings in previous research on the healthy migrant effect.Data and methodsWe use data from face-to-face interviews conducted within the SHARE Estonia (2010–2011) and SAGE Russia (2007–2010) surveys. Respondents aged 50+ living in urban areas were grouped by self-identified ethnicity, including 2,365 Estonians, 1,373 Russians in Estonia, and 2,339 Russians in Russia (total N = 6,077). Cognitive functioning was measured using a 25-percentile cut-off threshold for the results of two cognition outcomes - immediate recall and verbal fluency - and the odds of impairment were estimated using binary logistic regression.ResultsRussian men and women living in Estonia have significantly higher odds of impairment in immediate recall than Estonian men and women, though they do not differ from Russians in Russia in the final adjusted models. The differences between all groups are non-significant if age at migration is considered. There are no significant differences between the groups in verbal fluency.ConclusionContrary to the commonly found healthy migrant effect, the middle-aged and older foreign-origin population in Estonia fares initially worse than the native population in the immediate recall outcome, but does not differ from their sending country population, possibly due to Russia’s higher mortality rate and therefore the selective survival of healthier people. Different results depending on the cognitive functioning outcome suggest that migration may affect temporary memory more than crystallized knowledge. However, there are no differences between the groups if defined based on age at migration, which suggests that the age profile differences explain most of the groups’ differences in cognitive functioning.

    Quantitative survey data was collected in Estonia by the University of Tartu (UT) team. Participants A total of 1087 respondents participated in survey. 574 of them filled adolescents’ questionnaire and 513 young adults’ questionnaire. Respondents at regional/local level were approached from four Estonian regions, including the North (Tallinn), North-East (Ida-Virumaa), South-East (Tartu) and South (Valgamaa), in order to capture a range of different opinions across Estonia. To capture ethnic minorities, Russian version of questionnaire was created. 76% of respondents were Estonians and 34% preferred to fill Russian version. 63% of participants were females and 37% men. The mean age of adolescents was 16,7 years (SD = 0,81; range 15-22) and the mean age of young adults was 21,3 years (SD = 3,55; range 16-44). Methodology Data collection procedure All participants filled online questionnaire. To enhance involvement of ethnic minorities, Russian questionnaire version was created. Members of ethnic minority had possibility to choose between Estonian and Russian versions. The data set was generated within the research project Constructing AcTive CitizensHip with European Youth: Policies, Practices, Challenges and Solutions (CATCH-EyoU) funded by European Union, Horizon 2020 Programme - Grant Agreement No 649538. The data set is a truncated version of the adolescents’ and young adults’ survey that was carried out in Estonia from October to December 2016. It merges results of two polls (15-19 and 20-30 year olds). Survey was conducted by University of Tartu (UT) within the WP7 research activity which aims at testing processes influencing societal and political engagement of young people.

Measurement technique
The data presented in this dataset is derived from the latest U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates. To measure the three variables, namely (a) Population (Male), (b) Population (Female), and (c) Gender Ratio (Males per 100 Females), we initially analyzed and categorized the data for each of the gender classifications (biological sex) reported by the US Census Bureau across 18 age groups, ranging from under 5 years to 85 years and above. About this dataset

Context

The dataset tabulates the population of Russia by gender across 18 age groups. It lists the male and female population in each age group along with the gender ratio for Russia. The dataset can be utilized to understand the population distribution of Russia by gender and age. For example, using this dataset, we can identify the largest age group for both Men and Women in Russia. Additionally, it can be used to see how the gender ratio changes from birth to senior most age group and male to female ratio across each age group for Russia.

When available, the data consists of estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates.

Scope of gender :

Please note that American Community Survey asks a question about the respondents current sex, but not about gender, sexual orientation, or sex at birth. The question is intended to capture data for biological sex, not gender. Respondents are supposed to respond with the answer as either of Male or Female. Our research and this dataset mirrors the data reported as Male and Female for gender distribution analysis.

Variables / Data Columns

  • Age Group: This column displays the age group for the Russia population analysis. Total expected values are 18 and are define above in the age groups section.
  • Population (Male): The male population in the Russia is shown in the following column.
  • Population (Female): The female population in the Russia is shown in the following column.
  • Gender Ratio: Also known as the sex ratio, this column displays the number of males per 100 females in Russia for each age group.
