    Description

This dataset presents a range of data items sourced from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). The data is derived from the November 2024 release of Data by region. Individual data items present the latest reference year data available on Data by region. This layer presents data by Local Government Areas (LGA), 2021.

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples theme is based on groupings of data within Data by region. Concepts, sources and methods for each dataset can be found on the Data by region methodology page.

Topics in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples theme include:

Estimated resident population Language (Census) Engagement in employment, education or training (Census) Labour force status (Census) Unpaid assistance to person with disability (Census) Unpaid childcare (Census) Voluntary work (Census) Tenure type (Census)

The Closing the Gap topics that are informed by Census data are included in the update:

Target 5: By 2031, increase the proportion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 20-24 years attaining Year 12 or an equivalent qualification to 96 per cent. Target 6: By 2031, increase the proportion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 25-34 years who have completed a tertiary qualification (Certificate III and above) to 70 per cent. Target 7: By 2031, increase the proportion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth aged 15-24 years who are in employment, education or training to 67 per cent. Target 8: By 2031, increase the proportion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 25-64 years who are employed to 62 per cent. Target 9A: By 2031, increase the proportion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in appropriately sized (not overcrowded) housing to 88 per cent.

    When analysing these statistics:

Time periods, definitions, methodologies, scope, and coverage can differ across collections.
Some data values have been randomly adjusted or suppressed to avoid the release of confidential data, this means

some small cells have been randomly set to zero
care should be taken when interpreting cells with small numbers or zeros.

    Description

This dataset presents data on population and people available from the ABS Data by Region statistics. This release of Data by Region presents various data for 2011-2019 and Census of Population and Housing data for 2011 and 2016 and is based on the Local Government Area (LGA) 2019 boundaries. The dataset includes information in the following specified areas of population and people: Estimated Resident Population, Working Age Population, Median Age, Births and Deaths, Population Density, Internal and Overseas Migration, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, Overseas Born Proportion, Religious Affiliation and Speaks language other than English. Data by Region contains a standard set of data for each region type, depending on the availability of statistics for particular geographies. Data are sourced from a wide variety of collections, both ABS and non-ABS. When analysing these statistics, care needs to be taken as time periods, definitions, methodologies, scope and coverage can differ across collections. Where available, data have been presented as a time series - to enable users to assess changes over time. However, when looked at on a period to period basis, some series may sometimes appear volatile. When analysing the data, users are encouraged to consider the longer term behaviour of the series, where this extra information is available. For more information please visit the Explanatory Notes. AURIN has made the following changes to the original data: Spatially enabled the original data with the ABS Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS) LGA 2019 dataset. Some data values in Data by Region have been randomly adjusted or suppressed to avoid the release of confidential details. Where data was not available, not available for publication, nil or rounded to zero in the original data, it has been set to null. Columns and rows that did not contain any values in the original data have been removed.

    Description

This dataset contains National Regional Profile (NRP) data on Population and People at LGA level for 2010-2014. The data uses 2014 non-ABS ASGS boundaries. The NRP is designed for users interested in the socio-economic and environmental characteristics of regions - and in comparisons with similar geographies across Australia. Data are arranged under the broad themes/topics of Economy, Industry, People, and Energy and Environment. Please note some data are not available for all reference years, for a variety of reasons. For example; there may be conceptual breaks in a data series; the collection frequency may be irregular; some series may have revisions pending; or permission to publish in the NRP may have only been granted recently. In addition, some data series are not available for the full range of geographies. The reasons can include: data owner or custodian preferences; industry identification with a few, particular geographies only; confidentiality protection; and the presence of many suppressed data cells (at smaller geographic levels) thus making true aggregations up to larger ASGS regions difficult. This data is ABS data used with permission from the Australian Bureau of Statistics. Please note National Regional Profile (1379.0.55.001) has been discontinued. For the most recent regional data, please see Data By Region (1410.0). For more information please visit the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

    Description

The Uber Ride Dataset for New York City contains detailed information about every Uber ride in the city. The dataset includes the TLC license number of the HVFHS base or business, the TLC Base License Number of the base that dispatched the trip, the date and time of the trip pick-up and drop-off, the TLC Taxi Zone in which the trip began and ended, the base number of the base that received the original trip request, and the date and time when the passenger requested to be picked up.

The dataset also provides information about the total miles for the passenger trip, the total time in seconds for the passenger trip, the base passenger fare before tolls, tips, taxes, and fees, the total amount of all tolls paid in the trip, the total amount collected in the trip for the Black Car Fund, the total amount collected in the trip for NYS sales tax, the total amount collected in the trip for NYS congestion surcharge, and the airport fee of $2.50 for both drop off and pick up at LaGuardia, Newark, and John F. Kennedy airports.

Moreover, the dataset includes the total amount of tips received from the passenger, the total driver pay (not including tolls or tips and net of commission, surcharges, or taxes), the flag indicating whether the passenger agreed to a shared/pooled ride and whether the passenger shared the vehicle with another passenger who booked separately at any point during the trip.

The dataset also includes information about whether the trip was administered on behalf of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), whether the passenger requested a wheelchair-accessible vehicle (WAV), and whether the trip occurred in a wheelchair-accessible vehicle (WAV). This comprehensive dataset can be used for a variety of research and analysis purposes, including traffic patterns, fare analysis, and more.

The datasets are broken down by month and formatted in parquet. To use the parquet formatted files in pandas, there is an example in my notebook in the code section. If you need more details, look at the pdfs in the datasets. The data is originally from https://www.nyc.gov/site/tlc/about/tlc-trip-record-data.page

    Description

This dataset presents counts of payment recipients by payment type for the quarter ending June 2014. The data is based on the recipient's geocoded address aggregated by Local Government Area (LGA) from the Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS) 2014. The Department of Social Services (DSS) is the Australian Government's lead agency in the development and delivery of social policy, and is working to improve the lifetime wellbeing of people and families in Australia. DSS' policies and services respond to need across people's lives - looking after families, children and older people; providing a safety net for people who cannot fully support themselves; enhancing the wellbeing of people with high needs; assisting people who need help with care; and supporting a diverse and harmonious society. DSS supports people and families in Australia by encouraging independence and participation, and supporting a cohesive society. For more information on this dataset please visit the Australian Government Open Data. For further details on payments, see 'A guide to Australian Government payments'. Please note: In order to protect individuals' privacy, identified populations between 1 and 19 have been suppressed and replaced with '<20' for confidentiality purposes. Additional data may be suppressed and replaced with 'n.p.' (not provided) to prevent the derivation of identified populations that have values of less than 20.

Some data values have been randomly adjusted or suppressed to avoid the release of confidential data, this means

some small cells have been randomly set to zero
care should be taken when interpreting cells with small numbers or zeros.
