    Why I made this dataset

On the 24th of February Russia has invaded Ukraine.

Despite the fact that there were lots of speculations about the probable invasion in the press, it came as a complete shock for me as for many other Russians. It is so disgusting to start a full-scale war in the 21 century, so it was just unimaginable, no one talked about it seriously at that time. Many of us have friends and family members in Ukraine, others just want to be a part of the civil cosmopolitan world. How could our government so gruesomely attack Ukraine, destroying the lives in both countries?

But maybe it wasn't? I want to see the evolution of the discussion around Ukraine and Russia. So I parsed quite a big number of tweets. Maybe some of you will find it useful as well.

How did I collect the data.

    • max 5000 for the day
    • I used these words for the search ['ukraine war', 'ukraine troops', 'ukraine border', 'ukraine NATO', 'StandwithUkraine', 'russian troops', 'russian border ukraine', 'russia invade' ]
    • for each search, I created the separate CSV
    • dates: from 2022 - 01 - 01 to 2022 - 03 -06

    Format

The dataset is available as separate CSVs files.

    Context

Like it or hate it, military power is always become one crucial aspect in world's diplomacy. Those who have more personnel or sophisticated weapons are easier to get what they want. And those who don't can find another way to ensure their sovereignty intact but their needs also fulfilled. And we must admit that flexing military power always be a thing for countries in the world. That's why I collected military personnel data from about 126 countries in this world in 25 years range.

    Content

What inside this dataset are not only numbers. It also told us the stories about why the numbers goes up and down. We can see the dynamics of the amount of military personnel each countries have per years. Some multiplied, some depleted and unable to regain back.

Not all countries data are in this dataset. I only collect data from countries where military data is available for each year. There are problems with Angola in my dataset, since they are all Null. I'll try to fix it later.

    Description

Each day researchers at The Post identify and manually record data for fatal police shootings in the United States. Each record requires at least two sources and must be approved by our editors before being publicly released.

Data about each fatal shooting is provided via two comma-separated value (CSV) files:

Death Record data for each victim and incident is included in /v2/fatal-police-shootings-data.csv.

New in v2 is a second Agencies csv, /v2/fatal-police-shootings-agencies.csv, which contains data for police agencies involved in at least one fatal police shooting since 2015. The agencies csv has a field called agency_ids, which can be used to associate each death record with the agencies involved.

To enable joining this dataset with other federal law enforcement datasets, in 2022 The Post undertook an effort to increase the coverage of federal Originating Agency Identifier (ORI) codes recorded for agencies in the database. Using agency data from the FBI and Department of Justice, reporters did a combination of automated and manual name and ORI code matching to fill in missing ORI code data. They also standardized department names. Agency naming, organization, hierarchy and classification varies from state to state. For this reason, sub-agencies and local troops, regions and posts have been aggregated into their parent agencies, meaning that in some cases an individual agency will have multiple associated ORI codes. For instance, a state police depart
