SELECTED SOCIAL CHARACTERISTICS IN THE UNITED STATES VETERAN STATUS - DP02 Universe - Civilian population 18 Year and over Survey-Program - American Community Survey 5-year estimates Years - 2020, 2021, 2022 Veteran status is used to identify people with active duty military service and service in the military Reserves and the National Guard. Veterans are men and women who have served (even for a short time), but are not currently serving, on active duty in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or the Coast Guard, or who served in the U.S. Merchant Marine during World War II. People who served in the National Guard or Reserves are classified as veterans only if they were ever called or ordered to active duty, not counting the 4-6 months for initial training or yearly summer camps.
This information is designed to provide service members, their families, veterans, the general public, and other concerned citizens with the most comprehensive and accurate figures available regarding diagnosed cases of TBI within the U.S. military. Information is collected from electronic medical records and analyzed by the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center in cooperation with the Armed Forces Health Surveillance Center. Numbers for the current year will be updated on a quarterly basis. Other data will be updated annually. At this time, the MHS is unable to provide information regarding cause of injury or location because that information is not available in most medical records. The numbers represent actual medical diagnoses of TBI within the U.S. Military. Other, larger numbers routinely reported in the media must be considered inaccurate because they do not reflect actual medical diagnoses. Many of these larger numbers are developed utilizing sources such as the Post Deployment Health Assessment (PDHA) or Post Deployment Health Reassessment (PDHRA). However, these documents are assessment tools with TBI screening questions and are not diagnostic tools.

This data consists of three files:lists of all enlisted applicants, contracts, and accessions to the US military from October 2000 to September 2010, as well as a small Excel file that serves as a data dictionary. Individuals are identified only by 3 digit ZIP codes, and do not contain an individual identifier so they cannot be reliably tracked across stages of enlistment. The data was obtained through Freedom of Information Act request 11-F-0024, filed by Garret Christensen in 2010. The only documentation provided with the request is included here, in the Excel file.
The U.S. military’s nonpartisan norms are important for healthy civil-military relations. Some research, however, suggests these norms are weakening. This study examines the evidence for eroding nonpartisan norms by analyzing U.S. military servicemembers’ partisan affiliations and political activism levels from 2008 to 2018. It finds that since 2008, military servicemembers have become more likely to identify as partisans. Servicemembers have also become more politically active than civilians, although this is due to decreasing activism among the American public. It also finds that longer-serving service members have stronger nonpartisan norms, but that newer servicemembers are more politically active than both longer-serving servicemembers and civilians. These findings provide a firmer empirical foundation for previous claims of eroding norms and suggest more research is needed to understand how increased partisanship and political activism impact military readiness and civil-military relations.

A threat to cause the mass release of prisoners by an outside terrorist group has been identified. Steps need to be taken to provide extra security at the targeted prisons. 2. Massive civil unrest has resulted in a large number of arrests. Appropriate space is needed outside of the immediate area to house the arrested individuals. 3. Massive civil unrest has resulted in a large number of arrests. A "holding camp" has been established to hold those arrested. Trained security guards are needed to staff the holding camp. 4. A disaster has caused the need for an emergency labor force (e.g., sandbagging during a flood) and prisoners may fill that need. 5. Inmates may need to be evacuated, or appropriate steps may need to be taken at a prison to protect the inmates and to ensure that a disaster does not present an opportunity for escape.

VBA EDUCATION BENEFITS PROGRAM to help servicepersons adjust to civilian life after separation from military service, assist in the recruitment and retention of highly qualified personnel in the active and reserve components in the Armed Forces by providing education benefits, and to provide educational opportunities to the dependents of certain service members and veterans. Individuals who entered active duty after September 10, 2001 may be eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill. Individuals can use the Post-9/11 GI Bill after serving 90 days on active duty (excluding entry level and skill training). Only periods of active duty under title 10 will be used to establish eligibility for the Post 9/11 GI Bill. A high school diploma or equivalency certificate is always required for eligibility. Individuals who are eligible for the Montgomery GI Bill – Active Duty (chapter 30), the Montgomery GI Bill – Selected Reserve (chapter 1606), or the Reserve Educational Assistance Program (REAP) will have to make an irrevocable election to relinquish eligibility under one of those benefit programs to establish eligibility under the Post-9/11 GI Bill. The dependent children of a person who died in the line of duty while serving as a member of the Armed Forces may be eligible to use benefits under the Fry Scholarship provision of the Post-9/11 GI Bill. The spouse and/or child(ren) of a veteran or service member may be eligible for the Post 9/11 GI Bill if the veteran or service member transfers entitlement to those dependents. Eligibility to transfer entitlement to dependents is determined by the Department of Defense. This is not a complete list of eligibility requirements. Daily U.S. Snow Monitoring is a web based product available at the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). The data is extracted from the digital dataset U.S. COOP Summary of the Month (DSI-3220). This is meteorological data from the U.S. Cooperative Observer Network (COOP), which consists of stations operated by state universities, state or federal agencies, and also private individuals whose stations are managed and maintained by the National Weather Service (NWS). The network includes regular NWS offices, and airports with weather stations operated by the NWS or the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The Network also includes U.S. military bases. There are typically about 8,000 stations operating in any one year. The earliest data, organized by month, from DSI-3220 begins in 1886. Attributes from the extracted data include COOP ID, WBAN ID, Station Name, State, Year, Latitude, Longitude, Station Elevation, and Daily Snowfall.

The locations displayed have either self-attested they have inventory of Paxlovid (nirmatrelvir packaged with ritonavir), Lagevrio (molnupiravir), or Veklury (Remdesivir) within at least the last two months and/or reported participation in the Paxlovid Patient Assistance Program. The 2015 U.S. Transgender Survey (USTS) was conducted by the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) to examine the experiences of transgender adults in the United States. The USTS questionnaire was administered online and data were collected over a 34-day period in the summer of 2015, between August 19 and September 21. The final sample included respondents from all fifty states, the District of Columbia, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, and U.S. military bases overseas. The USTS Public Use Dataset (PUDS) features survey results from 27,715 respondents and details the experiences of transgender people across a wide range of areas, such as education, employment, family life, health, housing, and interactions with police and prisons. The survey instrument had thirty-two sections that covered a broad array of topics, including questions related to the following topics (in alphabetical order): accessing restrooms; airport security; civic participation; counseling; family and peer support; health and health insurance; HIV; housing and homelessness; identity documents; immigration; intimate partner violence; military service; police and incarceration; policy priorities; public accommodations; sex work; sexual assault; substance use; suicidal thoughts and behaviors; unequal treatment, harassment, and physical attack; and voting. "The NLS is an ongoing study of over 20,000 men and women begun in 1966. Interviews began in 1966 with the mature men (ages 45-59) who were on the threshold of leaving the labor market and entering retirement; and the NLS Young Men's cohort, a group of 5,225 young men (ages 14-24) who were completing their secondary schooling and making their initial job training, military service, and labor market decisions. Interviews with the NLS Mature Women's cohort, a group of 5,083 women ages 30-44 man y of whom were reentering the workforce and attempting to balance the demands of childbearing, household responsibilities, and labor force attachment, started in 1967. Finally, in 1968, interviews commenced with the NLS Young Women's cohort, a group of 5, 159 young women ages 14-24 who, like the young men, were leaving their parental homes, making career and job decisions, and beginning families of their own. Interviews with the Mature Women and Young Women cohorts have been conducted at regular intervals since the survey began. While surveys of the Mature Men and Young Men ceased in the early 1980's, a resurvey of the surviving members of the Mature Men's cohort and the spouses or next-of-kin of deceased members occurred in 1990."
This interactive map commemorates Canada’s participation in armed conflicts at home and abroad by highlighting a sample of the many geographical features and places named for those that served our country. These commemorative geographical names help us remember war casualties, soldiers, sailors, airmen and airwomen, military leaders, and civilians recognized or decorated for outstanding acts of bravery and sacrifice in battle. These names also commemorate notable battles in which Canada participated, and Canadian military units, regiments, squadrons, and ships in which Canadians served. Federal, provincial and territorial members of the Geographical Names Board of Canada provided these commemorative names for the development of the map. Many more commemorative place names exist in Canada, and will be added in future releases of this evergreen interactive map. SELECTED SOCIAL CHARACTERISTICS IN THE UNITED STATES VETERAN STATUS - DP02 Universe - Civilian population 18 Year and over Survey-Program - American Community Survey 5-year estimates Years - 2020, 2021, 2022 Veteran status is used to identify people with active duty military service and service in the military Reserves and the National Guard. Veterans are men and women who have served (even for a short time), but are not currently serving, on active duty in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or the Coast Guard, or who served in the U.S. Merchant Marine during World War II. People who served in the National Guard or Reserves are classified as veterans only if they were ever called or ordered to active duty, not counting the 4-6 months for initial training or yearly summer camps.
