    Accessible Tables and Improved Quality

As part of the Analysis Function Reproducible Analytical Pipeline Strategy, processes to create all National Travel Survey (NTS) statistics tables have been improved to follow the principles of Reproducible Analytical Pipelines (RAP). This has resulted in improved efficiency and quality of NTS tables and therefore some historical estimates have seen very minor change, at least the fifth decimal place.

All NTS tables have also been redesigned in an accessible format where they can be used by as many people as possible, including people with an impaired vision, motor difficulties, cognitive impairments or learning disabilities and deafness or impaired hearing.

If you wish to provide feedback on these changes then please contact us.

    Description

Epic and Ikon Ski Resorts 2024-2025 Dataset

A dataset of ski resorts associated with the Epic and Ikon ski passes for the 2024-2025 season. Note that this includes Epic and Ikon resorts as well as partner resorts (e.g., resorts offering limited days access). The dataset includes key information about the resorts, such as their geographical location, skiable acres, elevation, trail count, average snowfall, and historical opening and closing dates. This data provides an overview of the ski season performance and features of these resorts. It's intended for analysis, research, and educational purposes, especially for ski enthusiasts, industry analysts, or travelers planning their next trip.

About Epic and Ikon Ski Passes

Epic and Ikon are two of the most prominent ski passes in North America, offering access to a large network of ski resorts worldwide. The Epic Pass, managed by Vail Resorts, and the Ikon Pass, managed by Alterra Mountain Company, allow skiers and snowboarders to explore resorts across multiple countries with a single pass. For more information, visit the official pages for Epic Pass and Ikon Pass.

    Dataset Information

    • Source: This dataset compiles information from public resources, including official ski resort websites, official ski resort social media (for opening/closing dates), Epic Pass and Ikon Pass websites, Wikipedia, OnTheSnow, SnowPak, and other public sources. Cells are each derived from one or more sources and then selected/verified. Some quantitative columns (e.g., vertical_ft, ski_season_length_days) are derived from other columns within the dataset.
    • Purpose: This dataset is intended for analysis, research, and educational use, such as exploring trends in ski resort operations, snowfall patterns, and season lengths.
    • Accuracy: While the dataset has been created with a focus on precision, there may be variations in specific resort data. For critical use, cross-checking with official resort websites is recommended.
    • Notes: Southern Hemisphere seasons are assigned to the season ending year (e.g., Jun-Aug 2024 Southern Hemisphere season is assigned to 2023-2024 ski season)
