    Description

Abstract copyright UK Data Service and data collection copyright owner. The Opinions and Lifestyle Survey (formerly known as the ONS Opinions Survey or Omnibus) is an omnibus survey that began in 1990, collecting data on a range of subjects commissioned by both the ONS internally and external clients (limited to other government departments, charities, non-profit organisations and academia).Data are collected from one individual aged 16 or over, selected from each sampled private household. Personal data include data on the individual, their family, address, household, income and education, plus responses and opinions on a variety of subjects within commissioned modules. The questionnaire collects timely data for research and policy analysis evaluation on the social impacts of recent topics of national importance, such as the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the cost of living, on individuals and households in Great Britain. From April 2018 to November 2019, the design of the OPN changed from face-to-face to a mixed-mode design (online first with telephone interviewing where necessary). Mixed-mode collection allows respondents to complete the survey more flexibly and provides a more cost-effective service for customers. In March 2020, the OPN was adapted to become a weekly survey used to collect data on the social impacts of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on the lives of people of Great Britain. These data are held in the Secure Access study, SN 8635, ONS Opinions and Lifestyle Survey, Covid-19 Module, 2020-2022: Secure Access. From August 2021, as coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions were lifting across Great Britain, the OPN moved to fortnightly data collection, sampling around 5,000 households in each survey wave to ensure the survey remains sustainable. The OPN has since expanded to include questions on other topics of national importance, such as health and the cost of living. For more information about the survey and its methodology, see the ONS OPN Quality and Methodology Information webpage.Secure Access Opinions and Lifestyle Survey dataOther Secure Access OPN data cover modules run at various points from 1997-2019, on Census religion (SN 8078), cervical cancer screening (SN 8080), contact after separation (SN 8089), contraception (SN 8095), disability (SNs 8680 and 8096), general lifestyle (SN 8092), illness and activity (SN 8094), and non-resident parental contact (SN 8093). See Opinions and Lifestyle Survey: Secure Access for details. Main Topics:Each month's questionnaire consists of two elements: core questions, covering demographic information, are asked each month together with non-core questions that vary from month to month. The non-core questions for this month were: Withheld Deposits (Module 193): this module was asked on behalf of the Department of Environment, Transport and the Regions (DETR), and would have been included in the Survey of English Housing, but no space was available. It was asked in England only, to help the DETR compile a sample of respondents who had at some time in the past three years had a deposit that they had paid prior to moving into privately rented accommodation withheld when they left. Second Homes (Module 4): this module was asked on behalf of the Department of Environment, Transport and the Regions (DETR). It had appeared in previous Omnibus surveys in a slightly different form. The module queried respondents on ownership of a second home by any member of the household and reasons for having the second home. Expectation of House Price Changes (Module 137): this module asks respondents' views on changes to house prices in the next year and next five years. Drinking (Module 192): this module was asked on behalf of the Department of Health. It is based on the 'Drinking' module (113) asked in February and March 1997 (see SN:3920), with some questions omitted and some new questions added, which were designed to measure the likely impact on drinking of an initiative to add unit labelling to drinks sold in supermarkets and off-licences. Back Pain (Module 196): this module was asked on behalf of the Department of Health and asks about back pain experienced in the 12 months prior to the survey. It includes questions about the number of days back pain was experienced, visits to health services for the pain, its cause, whether activities restricted or time taken off work during the four weeks prior to the survey due to back pain. Hearing and Subtitles (Module 204): this module was asked of household members who had hearing difficulties or who had difficulty hearing a television with the volume at normal level. The following questions were asked: whether a hearing aid is worn and whether helpful when watching television; whether has an induction loop for television and whether helpful; extent of hearing difficulty when watching television; extent of television viewing; knowledge, use and views of teletext subtitles; types of television programmes most watched/least watched with subtitles. PEPs and TESSAs (Module 185): this module was asked on behalf of the Inland Revenue, to gain more information about the distribution of PEPs and TESSAs and in particular the extent to which the two groups overlap. Financial Products (Module 203): This module was asked on behalf of the British Bankers Association and assesses access to and use of current and savings accounts.

    Description

The study "Swedish TV supply" is conducted annually since 1998. The examination of the programs offered on TV is designed to answer five questions: (1) What is the range of supply in the television channels during the program year 2008? (2) What similarities and differences are there between the television channels' program profiles? (3) What are the programs offered for specific groups: children, youth, minorities and the disabled? (4) How has variety of programmes developed over time? (5) And how is diversity manifested in Swedish television? The study is based in principle on the information about TV programme from television channels. The programs are classified using this information and starting from a predefined classification scheme. Eight broadcast channels have been examined: SVT1, SVT2, SVT24, Barnkanalen/Kunskapskanalen (B/K), TV4, TV4 Plus, TV3, Kanal 5, TV6, TV8 and UR. In this study, as in most Swedish and international studies of television programme supply from the 1950s onwards, is information-entertainment the fundamental dimension in the classification of its contents. This means broadly that on the one hand, news and facts-oriented programs and on the other - programs focusing on recreation and entertainment are distinguished. In between, a third program genre is referred to among programs, including both factual and entertainment elements within a single program. The study also has programme supply classified by the target population the programs are primarily intended for: children, young people, ethnic minority groups as well as programs specifically tailored to people with disabilities. Purpose: Create repeated, systematic and long-term scientific studies of the programs offered in Swedish television. The survey is based on programs broadcast on SVT1, SVT2, SVT24, Barnkanalen/Kunskapskanalen (B/K), TV4, TV4 Plus, TV3, Kanal 5, TV6, TV8 and UR during 17 weeks in 2008. The selection of weeks was independent and random, stratified by season. For the period January - May and September to December (peak season) 12 weeks were examined (w. 2, 3, 4, 12, 18, 19, 37, 39, 41, 47, 48 and 49) and for the period June - August 5 weeks were examined (w. 25, 28, 29, 33 and 35).The survey is based on programs broadcast on SVT1, SVT2, SVT24, Barnkanalen/Kunskapskanalen (B/K), TV4, TV4 Plus, TV3, Kanal 5, TV6, TV8 and UR during 17 weeks in 2008. Description

Kurdish is an Indo-Iranian language that is largely spoken by people of Kurdish descent in the countries of Turkey, Iraq, Iran, and Syria. It contains a number of regional dialects, the most common of which is Northern Kurdish (also known as Kurmanji or Badini), while Central Kurdish (also known as Sorani) is spoken in some regions of Iraq and Iran. A unique Kurdish dialect, Hawrami, often referred to as Gorani, is the primary language spoken in the Hawraman area, which spans portions of western Iran and northeastern Iraq. Despite the fact that the dialects have separate pronunciations, vocabularies, and certain grammatical distinctions, they share a common core. In spite of the difficulties, the Kurdish language continues to be an essential component of Kurdish identity and cultural legacy. It plays an essential role in the protection and promotion of the distinct cultural identity of the Kurdish people.

The concepts of language and dialect recognition are intricately interconnected within the fields of linguistics and natural language processing. Having a good dataset for Kurdish dialect recognition improves identification and classification, natural language processing applications for Kurdish, preservation of Kurdish linguistic heritage, cultural insights, customized content and services for users, empowerment of local businesses, and a benchmark for evaluating dialect recognition systems.

The presented dataset was gathered by numerous members of the University of Halabja's Computer Science Department's teaching staff over the course of several months. During each stage of the data collecting process, the established policies, procedures, and guidelines were adhered to. This included taking into consideration the ages as well as the genders of the speakers who were included in the dataset. The recordings are taken from a variety of TV programmes and TV interviews that were broadcast on Speda tv, NRT, and GK Sat. There were 2000 instances of the Sorani dialect, 2000 examples of the Badini dialect, and 2000 examples of the Hawrami language. The total duration of this dataset is 6000 s, and the duration of each sample is precisely one second.

The dataset labeling procedure that has been suggested consists of two consecutive stages. Initially, it is necessary to categorize the distinct sounds of each dialect, namely Sorani, Badini, and Hawrami, into different directories. Following this, it is recommended that the files included inside these folders be systematically labeled from 1 to 2000, according to the prescribed scheme: for Sorani files, the labels should range from s1 to s2000; for Badini files, the labels should range from b1 to b2000; and for Hawrami files, the labels should range from h1 to h2000.

    Description

Kulttuuri ja vapaa-aika Suomessa -kysely kartoittaa laajasti suomalaisten kulttuurimakua ja elämäntyylejä. Aineistossa käsitellään esimerkiksi vastaajan mieltymyksiä liittyen televisioon, elokuviin, musiikkiin, ruokaan, kirjoihin ja taiteeseen. Lisäksi selvitetään muun muassa vapaa-ajanviettotapoja, harrastuksia ja internetin käyttöä. Kysely toteutettiin hankkeessa The Dynamics of Cultural Stratification: How Cultural Classifications, Hierarchies and Tastes Change. Kysely noudattelee laajaa brittiläistä tutkimushanketta Cultural Capital and Social Exclusion ja vastaa aiemmin kerättyä aineistoa FSD2953 Kulttuuri ja vapaa-aika Suomessa 2007. Television katsomiseen liittyen kysyttiin ensin, kuinka usein vastaaja katsoi mitäkin kanavia ja kuinka monta tuntia hän katsoi televisiota päivässä. The survey was conducted in the project The Dynamics of Cultural Stratification: How Cultural Classifications, Hierarchies and Tastes Change. The survey follows the extensive British research project Cultural Capital and Social Exclusion and corresponds to the previously collected data FSD2953 Culture and Leisure in Finland 2007. Regarding watching television, the respondents were first asked how often they watched different television channels and how many hours they watched television per day. The respondents were then asked which television programmes, such as news or current affairs programmes, comedies, sports programmes, or films they liked the most, the second most and the least, and which of the listed television series they liked the most. Last, respondents were asked about their interest in watching televised events such as the World Cup, Independence Day celebrations or Eurovision. Relating to films, the respondents were asked which types of films, such as action, comedy, or fantasy, they liked the most, the second most and the least. The next topic discussed was whether the respondent had ever studied music or photography on a regular basis, whether they belonged to a hobby club, and what their parents' interests were when they were a child. Regarding languages, the respondents were asked about their mother tongue and other languages they knew. The usage habits of the Internet and social media were also surveyed. Leisure time and holidays were queried about by asking how often the respondents went to different events and places, and what kinds of holidays they had been on, such as boat cruises or staying at a cottage, and which of the holidays they had liked. Sports and exercise were investigated by asking how much and what types of physical activity the respondents engage in. Concerning health and appearance, the respondents were asked, whether the respondent had ever pierced his ears, taken a tattoo, or followed a diet. In addition, the respondents were asked about their style of dress and how they considered their health. Context

I am a film lover and while scrolling through letterboxd.com thought it would be cool to get some data from my favorite genres.

    Content

For each movie I scraped: - Title - Year of Release - Director(s) - Running Time in minutes (when available) - Number of times it was marked as "Watched" by a letterboxd user - Number of "Likes" received - Average Rating - Number of times it has been given each possible rating (Rating system goes from half a star up to five stars in steps of one half)

I'm sharing because, even though I'd like to perform some analyses of my own, I would like to see what other people do with the data. Hit me up :)

    Description

Since 1997, MedieAkademin has carried out an annual survey titled The Institutional Trust. The survey has focused on major social institutions, such as the parliament, big business, the daily press, and TV/radio, as well as some specific companies such as Sveriges Television, TV4, IKEA, Skandia, and Volvo. The number of institutions included has varied somewhat over the years. Some of the institutions and companies have been measured every year while others have been investigated more irregularly. The survey was carried out by NFO Infratest and involved 740 individuals who were interviewed by telephone between November 2 and 22, 2004. The survey comprised some 50 institutions/companies/brands. The 2004 survey also included questions about some normative demands on large corporations. Purpose: To study the trust that Swedish people have in social institutions, political parties, media, brands/companies, and leaders.
