    The global number of Facebook users was forecast to continuously increase between 2023 and 2027 by in total 391 million users (+14.36 percent). After the fourth consecutive increasing year, the Facebook user base is estimated to reach 3.1 billion users and therefore a new peak in 2027. Notably, the number of Facebook users was continuously increasing over the past years. User figures, shown here regarding the platform Facebook, have been estimated by taking into account company filings or press material, secondary research, app downloads and traffic data. They refer to the average monthly active users over the period and count multiple accounts by persons only once.The shown data are an excerpt of Statista's Key Market Indicators (KMI). The KMI are a collection of primary and secondary indicators on the macro-economic, demographic and technological environment in up to 150 countries and regions worldwide. All indicators are sourced from international and national statistical offices, trade associations and the trade press and they are processed to generate comparable data sets (see supplementary notes under details for more information).

    Purpose For the purpose of informing tobacco intervention programs, this dataset was created and used to explore how online social networks of smokers differed from those of nonsmokers. The study was a secondary analysis of data collected as part of a randomized control trial conducted within Facebook. (See "Other References" in "Metadata" for parent study information.) Basic description of 4 anonymized data files of study participants. fbr_friends: Anonymized Facebook friends networks, basic ego demographics, basic ego social media activity fbr_family: Anonymized Facebook family networks, basic ego demographics, basic ego social media activity fbr_photos: Anonymized Facebook photo networks, basic ego demographics, basic ego social media activity fbr_groups: Anonymized Facebook group networks, basic ego demographics, basic ego social media activity Each network comprises the ego, the ego's first degree connections, and the (second degree) connections between the ego's friends. Missing data and users who did not have friend, family, photo, or group networks were cleaned from the data beforehand.     Description

    Full edition for scientific use. The AUTNES dataset on party Facebook pages contains information on parties’ Facebook posts during the six weeks of election campaign for the Austrian general election in 2013. Data collection took place in autumn 2015. We retrieved posts for all parties that passed the threshold for entering the parliament in 2013. Each post constitutes a unit of analysis. The coding procedure applies the AUTNES relational approach of recording subjects, predicates, and objects to party Facebook pages. The subject is the party or candidate that operates the Facebook page and is coded with the name (if an individual is present), organisational affiliation and appearance in the coding unit (text only, text and image, image only). There are two types of objects: issues and object actors. Issues are recorded by coders selecting from the AUTNES issue coding scheme the dominant policy issue and the dominant campaign issue in the coding unit. The issue predicate numerically records whether the subject’s position towards the policy issue is one of support, rejection, or conveys a neutral/ambivalent stance. Up to ten object actors are recorded from each coding unit in the same way as the subject actor, supplemented with an evaluation by the subject actor (positive, negative, or neutral). In addition to the basic subject–predicate–object structure we code several additional variables: character traits, party records as well as a description of every actor’s outfit. Moreover, the dataset contains variables describing the Facebook page, the coding unit as well as images and calls for (preference) votes or campaign participation.     Context

    COVIDcast displays signals related to COVID-19 activity levels across the United States, derived from a variety of anonymized, aggregated data sources made available by multiple partners.

    One of COVIDcast streams displays results for a CMU-run symptom survey, advertised through Facebook.

    Content

    This dataset is gathered using the delphi-epidata API and contains covidcast_meta and covidcast datasources.

    Presently the dataset contains fb-survey data signal which is based on CMU-run symptom surveys, advertised through Facebook. Using this survey data, CMU estimate the percentage of people in a given location, on a given day that have CLI (covid-like illness = fever, along with cough, or shortness of breath, or difficulty breathing), and separately, that have ILI (influenza-like illness = fever, along with cough or sore throat).

    Dataset Description

    Files are organized in folders based on the spatial resolution of fb-survey data (state, county, hrr, msa).

    Each file contains the percentage of people in a given location, on a given day that have CLI or ILI. Data consists of raw and smoothed estimates and is gathered for all time values available at delphi-epidata.

    Each file contains the following columns: - geo_value - location code - time_value - time unit (e.g. date) over which underlying events happened - direction - trend classifier (+1 -> increasing, 0 steady or not determined, -1 -> decreasing) - value - value (statistic) derived from the underlying data source - stderr - standard error of the statistic with respect to its sampling distribution, null when not applicable - sample_size - number of "data points" used in computing the statistic, null when not applicable

    Additionally, the dataset contains the most recent covidcast_meta where you can find the summary statistics for fb-survey data.

    Description

    Semi-structured interviews with 36 individuals with either type 1 or type 2 diabetes. The interviews address their diagnosis and current life with diabetes, their use of Facebook and consumption and production of online content in relation to diabetes and its impacts, if any, on their diabetes management.Given the recognised importance of social networks in health and wellbeing, the recent rise in popularity of online networking sites affords a timely opportunity to learn more about their role in self-care associated with long-term conditions. Focusing on diabetes as one of the most pressing healthcare priorities, and Facebook as currently the most popular social networking site, the project examines contextual factors that shape knowledge, attitudes and practices in relation to online networking and chronic illness. The Facebook site allows its users to create textual and visual content, connections, organisational and individual pages, and groups, and in this way facilitates maintenance of different network types. Our study of Facebook use by people with diabetes, and by government and third sector organisations, will help us understand the role of these different networks, and of the Internet, in shaping and supporting self-care practices outside formal healthcare organisations. The overall aim is to investigate systematically expert and lay perspectives on online networking and diabetes in the UK through the analysis of discourses and practices surrounding the use of Facebook. Methodologically, the project combines linguistic and sociological approaches and develops a framework for a critical and contextual study of online networking and health. Data was collected through one-to-one semi-structured interviews lasting between 40 and 110 minutes.Interviews were audio recorded. Interviews took place in a variety of settings, including participants' homes, university offices, meeting rooms of Diabetes UK and occasionally in public cafes at the participants' requests. Where interview participants agreed, part of the interview involved accessing and viewing their Facebook account (Newsfeed, profile page, groups) using a laptop or their phone to discuss diabetes-related content that they accessed through Facebook.     These data sets are intended to inform researchers and public health experts about how populations are responding to physical distancing measures. In particular, there are two metrics, Change in Movement and Stay Put, that provide a slightly different perspective on movement trends. Change in Movement looks at how much people are moving around and compares it with a baseline period that predates most social distancing measures, while Stay Put looks at the fraction of the population that appear to stay within a small area during an entire day.
