    Description

    Background

The Anki Vector robot (assets currently owned by Digital Dream Labs LLC which bought Anki assets in 2019) was first introduced in 2018. In my opinion, the Vector robot has been the cheapest fully functional autonomous robot that has ever been built. The Vector robot can be trained to recognize people; however Vector does not have the ability to recognize another Vector. This dataset has been designed to allow one to train a model which can detect a Vector robot in the camera feed of another Vector robot.

Details Pictures were taken with Vector’s camera with another Vector facing it and had this other Vector could move freely. This allowed pictures to be captured from different angles. These pictures were then labeled by marking the rectangular regions around Vector in all the images with the help of a free Linux utility called labelImg. Different backgrounds and lighting conditions were used to take the pictures. There is also a collection of pictures without Vector.

Example An example use case is available in my Google Colab notebook, a version of which can be found in my Git.

    Description

Who's On First is a gazetteer of all the places in the world, from continents to neighbourhoods and venues. If you’ve never heard the term “gazetteer” before it’s basically just a big phone book, but a phone book of places rather than people. Who’s On First is not a carefully selected list of important or relevant places. It is not meant to act as the threshold by which places are measured. Who’s On First, instead, is meant to provide the raw material with which a multiplicity of thresholds might be created. From Who’s On First’s perspective the point is not that one place is more important or relevant than any other . The point is not that a place may or may not exist anymore or that its legitimacy as a place is disputed. The point is, critically, that people believe them to exist or to have existed. This is why we often refer to Who’s On First as “a gazetteer of consensual hallucinations” . Who's On First is an open-source effort built and maintained by Mapzen . Mapzen is a Linux Foundation Project. Learn more here . This public dataset is hosted in Google BigQuery, with cleaning and onboarding support from CARTO , and is included in BigQuery's 1TB/mo of free tier processing. This means that each user receives 1TB of free BigQuery processing every month, which can be used to run queries on this public dataset. Watch this short video to learn how to get started quickly using BigQuery to access public datasets. What is BigQuery .
