Context

This list ranks the 365 cities in the Florida by Puerto Rican population, as estimated by the United States Census Bureau. It also highlights population changes in each city over the past five years.

Content

When available, the data consists of estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 5-Year Estimates, including:

• 2019-2023 American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates
• 2014-2018 American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates
• 2009-2013 American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates

Variables / Data Columns

• Rank by Puerto Rican Population: This column displays the rank of city in the Florida by their Puerto Rican population, using the most recent ACS data available.
• City: The City for which the rank is shown in the previous column.
• Puerto Rican Population: The Puerto Rican population of the city is shown in this column.
• % of Total City Population: This shows what percentage of the total city population identifies as Puerto Rican. Please note that the sum of all percentages may not equal one due to rounding of values.
• % of Total Florida Puerto Rican Population: This tells us how much of the entire Florida Puerto Rican population lives in that city. Please note that the sum of all percentages may not equal one due to rounding of values.
• 5 Year Rank Trend: This column displays the rank trend across the last 5 years.

Context

The dataset tabulates the Osceola County Hispanic or Latino population. It includes the distribution of the Hispanic or Latino population, of Osceola County, by their ancestries, as identified by the Census Bureau. The dataset can be utilized to understand the origin of the Hispanic or Latino population of Osceola County.

Among the Hispanic population in Osceola County, regardless of the race, the largest group is of Puerto Rican origin, with a population of 112,999 (50.47% of the total Hispanic population).

Users can purchase data regarding health and nutrition of Hispanic-origin participants of a national survey. Topics include: dietary practices; diabetes; acculturation; and the health of children, adolescents and adults, among others. Background The Hispanic Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (HHANES) was conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This nation-wide survey was conducted among Hispanic-origin respondents. This survey was conducted to generate estimates of the health of Hispanics in general and Latino subgroups. Topics include, but are not limited to: dietary practices, diabetes, depression, dental health, alcohol consumption, acculturation, child health, adolescent he alth, and adult health. User Functionality Users can purchase the dataset. Demographic information is available by race/ethnicity, income, age group, sex/gender, education, and marital status. Data Notes Surveys were conducted among a national sample Hispanic-origin respondents ranging in age from 6 months to 74 years of age. Surveys were completed between 1982 and 1984 and information is available on a national level. Respondents include Mexican Americans living in the southwestern states; Cuban-Americans in Florida; and Puerto Ricans in New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey. Data can be purchased through the National Technical Information Service (NTIS).
