Data includes: board and school information, grade 3 and 6 EQAO student achievements for reading, writing and mathematics, and grade 9 mathematics EQAO and OSSLT. Data excludes private schools, Education and Community Partnership Programs (ECPP), summer, night and continuing education schools. How Are We Protecting Privacy? Results for OnSIS and Statistics Canada variables are suppressed based on school population size to better protect student privacy. In order to achieve this additional level of protection, the Ministry has used a methodology that randomly rounds a percentage either up or down depending on school enrolment. In order to protect privacy, the ministry does not publicly report on data when there are fewer than 10 individuals represented. * Percentages depicted as 0 may not always be 0 values as in certain situations the values have been randomly rounded down or there are no reported results at a school for the respective indicator. * Percentages depicted as 100 are not always 100, in certain situations the values have been randomly rounded up. The school enrolment totals have been rounded to the nearest 5 in order to better protect and maintain student privacy. The information in the School Information Finder is the most current available to the Ministry of Education at this time, as reported by schools, school boards, EQAO and Statistics Canada. The information is updated as frequently as possible. This information is also available on the Ministry of Education's School Information Finder website by individual school. Descriptions for some of the data types can be found in our glossary. School/school board and school authority contact information are updated and maintained by school boards and may not be the most current version. Measurement technique
The data presented in this dataset is derived from the latest U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates. To measure the two variables, namely (a) population and (b) population as a percentage of the total population, we initially analyzed and categorized the data for each of the gender classifications (biological sex) reported by the US Census Bureau. For further information regarding these estimates, please feel free to reach out to us via email at research@neilsberg.com.

    Description
    About this dataset

    Context

The dataset tabulates the population of Little Canada by gender, including both male and female populations. This dataset can be utilized to understand the population distribution of Little Canada across both sexes and to determine which sex constitutes the majority.

    Key observations

There is a slight majority of female population, with 50.14% of total population being female. Source: U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates.

    Content

When available, the data consists of estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates.

    Scope of gender :

Please note that American Community Survey asks a question about the respondents current sex, but not about gender, sexual orientation, or sex at birth. The question is intended to capture data for biological sex, not gender. Respondents are supposed to respond with the answer as either of Male or Female. Our research and this dataset mirrors the data reported as Male and Female for gender distribution analysis. No further analysis is done on the data reported from the Census Bureau.

    Variables / Data Columns

    • Gender: This column displays the Gender (Male / Female)
    • Population: The population of the gender in the Little Canada is shown in this column.
    • % of Total Population: This column displays the percentage distribution of each gender as a proportion of Little Canada total population. Please note that the sum of all percentages may not equal one due to rounding of values.

    Good to know

    Margin of Error

Data in the dataset are based on the estimates and are subject to sampling variability and thus a margin of error. Neilsberg Research recommends using caution when presening these estimates in your research.

    Custom data

If you do need custom data for any of your research project, report or presentation, you can contact our research staff at research@neilsberg.com for a feasibility of a custom tabulation on a fee-for-service basis.

    Inspiration

Neilsberg Research Team curates, analyze and publishes demographics and economic data from a variety of public and proprietary sources, each of which often includes multiple surveys and programs. The large majority of Neilsberg Research aggregated datasets and insights is made available for free download at https://www.neilsberg.com/research/.

Data sources and methodologyThe inputs for the ODEF are primarily datasets provided by municipal, regional or provincial sources available to the general public through open government portals under various types of open data licences, or otherwise published on their webpages and released under an open licence with their permission.

The ODEF was created by gathering the microdata on educational facilities from open data portals, provincial or territorial websites (with permission from the data owners), and one federal department.

The current version of the database (version 2.0) contains approximately 19,000 records. Collection of data from the above indicated data providers was from August 2019 to March 2021. The individual datasets were collected from their respective sources and processed and harmonized into the ODEF. Description

The Measuring the Effectiveness of Student Aid (MESA) dataset comprises a sample of low income students receiving student financial aid in 2006-07. Students were contacted first (Cycle I) in February-May of that academic year (the precise date varying by province), and were then followed up in 2007-08 (Cycle II), contacted in February April of that year. Students will be contacted again in 2008-09 for the last time. The dataset represents a national sample, including all provinces-except for Prince Edward Island. In the spring and summer of 2005, the Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation negotiated a series of agreements with provincial governments to deliver a set of bursaries (known as “Access Bursaries”) to first-time, first-year undergraduates from low-income families. These agreements are all broadly similar though eligibility criteria vary slightly by jurisdiction (section 1, below, describes the Access Bursaries as they exist in each province). Students do not need to apply for the award separately; instead, they are automatically considered for the award through their application for provincial student assistance. The sample represents a particular subset of the students who received student financial aid in their first year of postsecondary education in 2006 07. In the majority of the provinces, this subset consists of the students who received a Low Income Bursary from the Millennium Scholarship Foundation. In British Columbia and Nova Scotia, a control group made up of students who received financial aid but not the Millennium Bursary was surveyed as well. The Ontario sample is made up those Millennium Bursary recipients who also received a Canada Access Grant and those who did not, with sub-samples selected from each group (all appear together in the data but can be separately identified). The Bursary and the Grant are awarded in similar amounts, but the eligibility requirements are different. This dataset was freely received from the Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation. Some work was required for the variable and value labels, and missing values. They were corrected as best as possible with the documentation received. Caution should be used with this dataset as some variables are lacking information.

    Description

The Elementary-Secondary Education Statistics Project (ESESP) is a national pilot survey that enables Statistics Canada to provide information on enrolments, graduates, educators and finance of Canadian elementary-secondary public educational institutions. This information is used mainly to meet policy and planning needs in the field of elementary-secondary education. ESESP annually collects aggregate data from each jurisdiction. Specifically, the information on enrolments pertains to the following four programs: regular, minority and second languages, Aboriginal language and special needs education. The information on regular programs is collected by type of programs (regular, upgrading and professional), education sector (youth or adult), grade and sex. The one on minority and second language programs is collected by type program (immersion, as language of instruction, as a subject taught) and by grade. Information on Aboriginal language programs is requested by type of Aboriginal language (immersion, as language of instruction, as a subject taught) and by grade. Finally, data on special needs education are collected by type of disability (sensory, physical and intellectual disabilities -- low incidence disabilities, learning disabilities and behavioural disabilities -- high incidence disabilities, to compensate for the socio-economic status (SES) or other disadvantages), type of class (regular, special) and by sex. The survey also collects data on secondary school graduates by type of program (regular, upgrading and professional), sector (youth and adult), age and sex. Graduation counts rates can be produced from this data. Information pertaining to full-time and part-time educators by age group and sex is also collected. Finally, ESESP also gathers expenditures data pertaining to level of government (school board and other government) and type of expenditures. This data is collected to determine how much is spent in relative detail by school boards and by provincial/territorial total. It also collects expenditures on special needs education programs. The information on elementary-secondary education statistics is used by provincial and territorial departments or ministries of education, national and provincial teachers' and students' associations, school boards, journalists and researchers, as well as international bodies such as OECD and UNESCO. ESESP was first introduced by Statistics Canada in 2003. The goal of this pilot project is to replace the following surveys as the official collection tools for elementary-secondary enrolments, graduates, educators and finance data: Elementary-Secondary School Enrolment Survey (ESSE -- Survey #3128), Minority and Second Language Education -- Elementary and Secondary Levels Survey (Survey #3129), Secondary School Graduates Survey (SSGS -- Survey #5082), Elementary-Secondary Education Staff Survey (ESESS -- Survey #3127) The ESESP has been replaced by the Elementary-Secondary Education Survey (ESES).

    Description

The Residential School Locations Dataset [IRS_Locations.csv] contains the locations (latitude and longitude) of Residential Schools and student hostels operated by the federal government in Canada. All the residential schools and hostels that are listed in the Indian Residential School Settlement Agreement are included in this dataset, as well as several Industrial schools and residential schools that were not part of the IRRSA. This version of the dataset doesn’t include the five schools under the Newfoundland and Labrador Residential Schools Settlement Agreement. The original school location data was created by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and was provided to the researcher (Rosa Orlandini) by the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation in April 2017. The dataset was created by Rosa Orlandini, and builds upon and enhances the previous work of the Truth and Reconcilation Commission, Morgan Hite (creator of the Atlas of Indian Residential Schools in Canada that was produced for the Tk'emlups First Nation and Justice for Day Scholar's Initiative, and Stephanie Pyne (project lead for the Residential Schools Interactive Map). Each individual school location in this dataset is attributed either to RSIM, Morgan Hite, NCTR or Rosa Orlandini. Many schools/hostels had several locations throughout the history of the institution. If the school/hostel moved from its’ original location to another property, then the school is considered to have two unique locations in this dataset, the original location and the new location. For example, Lejac Indian Residential School had two locations while it was operating, Stuart Lake and Fraser Lake. If a new school building was constructed on the same property as the original school building, it isn't considered to be a new location, as is the case of Girouard Indian Residential School. When the precise location is known, the coordinates of the main building are provided, and when the precise location of the building isn’t known, an approximate location is provided. For each residential school institution location, the following information is provided: official names, alternative name, dates of operation, religious affiliation, latitude and longitude coordinates, community location, Indigenous community name, contributor (of the location coordinates), school/institution photo (when available), location point precision, type of school (hostel or residential school) and list of references used to determine the location of the main buildings or sites.

See "01_ASDN_readme.txt" (under "Download Data" tab) for data author and contact information. Field data on shorebird ecology and environmental conditions were collected from 1993-2014 at 16 field sites in Alaska, Canada, and Russia. Data were not collected in every year at all sites. Studies of the population ecology of these birds included nest-monitoring to determine timing of reproduction and reproductive success; live capture of birds to collect blood samples, feathers, and fecal samples for investigations of population structure and pathogens; banding of birds to determine annual survival rates; resighting of color-banded birds to determine space use and site fidelity; and use of light-sensitive geolocators to investigate migratory movements. Data on climatic conditions, prey abundance, and predators were also collected. Environmental data included weather stations that recorded daily climatic conditions, surveys of seasonal snowmelt, weekly sampling of terrestrial and aquatic invertebrates that are prey of shorebirds, live trapping of small mammals (alternate prey for shorebird predators), and daily counts of potential predators (jaegers, falcons, foxes). All research was conducted under permits from relevant federal, state and university authorities. Potential users of these data should first contact the relevant data author(s), listed in the "ASDN_readme.txt" file. This will enable coordination in terms of updates/corrections to the data and ongoing analyses. Key analyses of the data are in progress and will be included in the theses and dissertations of graduate students who collected these field data. Temporary residents who are in Canada on a study permit in the observed calendar year. Datasets include study permit holders by year in which permit(s) became effective or with a valid permit in a calendar year or on December 31st. Please note that in these datasets, the figures have been suppressed or rounded to prevent the identification of individuals when the datasets are compiled and compared with other publicly available statistics. Values between 0 and 5 are shown as “--“ and all other values are rounded to the nearest multiple of 5. This may result to the sum of the figures not equating to the totals indicated.
