The City Manager conducted a public consultation in May 2015 to seek input from Torontonians on the matter of expanded gaming at Woodbine Racetrack. This data set contains input from the public consultation delivered by Ipsos Reid for the City of Toronto between May 6 and May 29, 2015. The purpose of posting this dataset is to create a record of the consultation and the public's views from an online questionnaire, and a city-wide public opinion telephone survey. The margin of error for a sample of this size is plus or minus 3.7 percentage points (at the 95% confidence level). The data was statistically weighted to ensure the sample's regional, age and gender composition reflects that of the actual Toronto population according to 2011 census data. In addition to the representative sample of 701 interviews, 200 interviews were conducted with residents who live in North Etobicoke (M9W and M9V) in order to boost the sample size of residents who live in the area of the Woodbine Racetrack. The survey was conducted using live interviews (CATI) and was executed using random digit dialing (RDD) . The representative sample frame included both landline and cellphone households. The average interview length was 14.4 minutes. The overall response rate to the survey was 9.2%. The response rate was calculated using the formula developed by the Marketing Research and Intelligence Association (MRIA) in conjunction with the Government of Canada. Throughout the report totals may not add to 100% due to rounding or because the question is a multi-select question, where respondents were permitted to choose more than one response. Online Survey The online survey was posted to the Woodbine Racetrack Casino Consultation Page. The survey was open between May 6 and 29, 2015. The survey was open to anybody who chose to complete it and therefore, the sample of those who completed it and their opinions should not be viewed as statistically representative of the residents of Toronto. This information was collected to assist the City to better understand the positions and interest of Torontonians. A total of n=465 survey were completed. The data was not statistically weighted. Throughout the report totals may not add to 100% due to rounding or because the question was a multi-select question, where respondents were permitted to choose more than one response.

The report provides a snapshot of the social media usage trends amongst online Canadian adults based on an online survey of 1500 participants. Canada continues to be one of the most connected countries in the world. An overwhelming majority of online Canadian adults (94%) have an account on at least one social media platform. However, the 2022 survey results show that the COVID-19 pandemic has ushered in some changes in how and where Canadians are spending their time on social media. Dominant platforms such as Facebook, messaging apps and YouTube are still on top but are losing ground to newer platforms such as TikTok and more niche platforms such as Reddit and Twitch.

The Attitudes Towards Remembrance and Veterans' Week survey is a means through which Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) can measure Canadians' level of participation in remembrance activities, their attitudes toward those who served in Canada's military and their level of support for VAC's work related to remembrance. The purpose of the quantitative research is to evaluate the effectiveness of the Department's overall remembrance programming. More specifically, the research was designed to:
Understand Canadians' attitudes towards an acceptance of commemorating Veterans and their sacrifices and achievements;
Monitor behavioural changes resulting from Canadians receiving information relating to remembrance;
Assess Canadians' awareness of and pride in Canadian military contributions and the sacrifices of Canadian Veterans;
Identify Canadians' knowledge of Canada's military contributions;
Provide VAC with concrete data to assist in performance measurement; and
Assess Canadians' level of participation (active and passive) in remembrance.
The research results help guide the Department in its planning and programming for the future. The information obtained allows VAC to continue determining the impact and effectiveness of its remembrance activities, adapt activities to be relevant to Canadians, improve the methods used to inform Canadians about remembrance initiatives, and improve future initiatives.
