TwitterThis dataset displays the Real GDP by metropolitan area for the years 2001-2005. For each of the posted metropolitan areas Millions of chained dollars and the percentage change from the previous year is posted. This data was geocoded according to city and state locations. During the geocoding process 233/363 records from the original dataset were successfully geocoded. The reason for this is that during the process is that the dataset often groups cities together into one metropolitan area, which were unable to be properly coded. TwitterThe United States MSA Boundaries data set contains the boundaries for metropolitan statistical areas in the United States. The data set contains information on location, identification, and size. The database includes metropolitan boundaries within all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. The general concept of a metropolitan area (MA) is one of a large population nucleus, together with adjacent communities that have a high degree of economic and social integration with that nucleus. Some MAs are defined around two or more nuclei. Each MA must contain either a place with a minimum population of 50,000 or a U.S. Census Bureau-defined urbanized area and a total MA population of at least 100,000 (75,000 in New England). An MA contains one or more central counties. An MA also may include one or more outlying counties that have close economic and social relationships with the central county. An outlying county must have a specified level of commuting to the central counties and also must meet certain standards regarding metropolitan character, such as population density, urban population, and population growth. In New England, MAs consist of groupings of cities and towns rather than whole counties. The territory, population, and housing units in MAs are referred to as "metropolitan." The metropolitan category is subdivided into "inside central city" and "outside central city." The territory, population, and housing units located outside territory designated "metropolitan" are referred to as "non-metropolitan." The metropolitan and non-metropolitan classification cuts across the other hierarchies; for example, generally there are both urban and rural territory within both metropolitan and non-metropolitan areas.

TwitterThis Dataset Tally's up the number of Olympic Gold medal winners per state. if an athlete has earned multiple medals, they only count as one. Its just the way it works out. anyways, this was pulled from Wikipedia.org, and is incomplete, these aren't total counts, these are just counts that i could find data for. This dataset show All Americans who have won Gold Medals in 'Athletics', which is the classification for Track and Field events and others. Data was found online at Wikipedia, and it isn't perfect. i was able to geocode about 100 of the almost 150 gold medalists. The data for February 2008 are preliminary. The data presented are seasonally adjusted although the unadjusted numbers are also available. Unavailable data are represented as -1. The dataset is taken from Tables 3 and 5 from the United States Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics. It includes the civilian labor force, the unemployed in numbers and percentages, and employment by industry. Data from table 3 "refer to place of residence. Data for Puerto Rico are derived from a monthly household survey similar to the Current Population Survey. Area definitions are based on Office of Management and Budget Bulletin No. 08-01, dated November 20, 2007, and are available at http://www.bls.gov/lau/lausmsa.htm. Estimates for the latest month are subject to revision the following month". Data from table 5 "are counts of jobs by place of work. Estimates are currently projected from 2007 benchmark levels. Estimates subsequent to the current benchmarks are provisional and will be revised when new information becomes available. Data reflect the conversion to the 2007 version of the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) as the basis for the assignment and tabulation of economic data by industry, replacing NAICS 2002. To measure the social impact of these events, HAZUS includes detailed demographic data for the United States. This dataset pulls out the residential data from the demographic files, at the census block level for the Wisconsin section of the Minneapolis Minnesota Metropolitan Statistic Area (MSA). Data attributes include population group quarters, school enrollment, population commuting at 5 pm, population in hotels, visiting populations, population residing by day or night, and others. TwitterThis dataset contains 342 National Park System unit boundaries. Under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service (NPS), these park units are located throughout the United States (U.S.) and its territories. Almost all the parks are located north of the equator in the western hemisphere; although a couple parks are south of the equator or in the eastern hemisphere. The dataset was compiled (and edited) from a variety sources: park-based GIS databases; U.S. Geological Survey 7.5' 1:24,000 quadrangles; NPS Park Land Status Maps; legal descriptions; etc.). The boundaries are in Latitude-Longitude (Clarke 1866-NAD27) decimal degrees. The ID_ field contains the unique 4 character park code identifying each park. The NAME1_ field contains the full park name. The NAME2_ field contains information about the source, scale, and date of the boundary. The boundaries are generally the designated boundary. Inholdings may or may not be shown depending on the park. This dataset was originally created in Environmental System's Research Institute's (ESRI) ATLAS*GIS software and is currently maintained in this software. This version of the dataset was created using ESRI's ArcTools 8.0.2 Import to ShapeFile from .AGF file command, ShapeFile to Coverage command, and then Export to Interchange File. To obtain the most accurate, current boundary, users should contact the specific park These digital park unit boundaries should not be used for any legal boundary disputes.
