    Description

The Idaho Statistics Update project is made possible by a 1997/98 Seed Grant from the University of Idaho Research Office. The grant was used to hire three student assistants to input the data and to convert the data to a usable format for the Web. The undertaking of this project is possible to accomplish only with the assistance of several librarians at the University of Idaho. Some of the original chapters included here were published as volume one of the Idaho Statistical Abstract, 4th edition, by University of Ida ho, Center for Business Development and Research. Efforts were made to use the sources listed in the original chapters to update the data when available. The chapters intended for volume 2 of Idaho Statistical Abstract, 4th edition, are new data collected from various sources by Lily Wai, the Compiler-in-Chief. The Idaho Department of Commerce also contributed some funds for this project. This is an on-going project with periodic updates planned when funding becomes available. In the interest of improving the quality and coverage of future updates, users of this site are encouraged to address suggestions to Lily Wai, Head of Government Documents, University of Idaho Library, Moscow, Idaho 83844-2353.

    Description
    About this dataset

    Context

The dataset tabulates the population of Idaho by gender, including both male and female populations. This dataset can be utilized to understand the population distribution of Idaho across both sexes and to determine which sex constitutes the majority.

    Key observations

There is a slight majority of male population, with 50.29% of total population being male. Source: U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates.

    Content

When available, the data consists of estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates.

    Scope of gender :

Please note that American Community Survey asks a question about the respondents current sex, but not about gender, sexual orientation, or sex at birth. The question is intended to capture data for biological sex, not gender. Respondents are supposed to respond with the answer as either of Male or Female. Our research and this dataset mirrors the data reported as Male and Female for gender distribution analysis. No further analysis is done on the data reported from the Census Bureau.

    Variables / Data Columns

    • Gender: This column displays the Gender (Male / Female)
    • Population: The population of the gender in the Idaho is shown in this column.
    • % of Total Population: This column displays the percentage distribution of each gender as a proportion of Idaho total population. Please note that the sum of all percentages may not equal one due to rounding of values.

    Good to know

    Margin of Error

Data in the dataset are based on the estimates and are subject to sampling variability and thus a margin of error. Neilsberg Research recommends using caution when presening these estimates in your research.

    Custom data

If you do need custom data for any of your research project, report or presentation, you can contact our research staff at research@neilsberg.com for a feasibility of a custom tabulation on a fee-for-service basis.

    Description

The TIGER/Line shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. Census Blocks are statistical areas bounded on all sides by visible features, such as streets, roads, streams, and railroad tracks, and/or by nonvisible boundaries such as city, town, township, and county limits, and short line-of-sight extensions of streets and roads. Census blocks are relatively small in area; for example, a block in a city bounded by streets. However, census blocks in remote areas are often large and irregular and may even be many square miles in area. A common misunderstanding is that data users think census blocks are used geographically to build all other census geographic areas, rather all other census geographic areas are updated and then used as the primary constraints, along with roads and water features, to delineate the tabulation blocks. As a result, all 2020 Census blocks nest within every other 2020 Census geographic area, so that Census Bureau statistical data can be tabulated at the block level and aggregated up to the appropriate geographic areas. Census blocks cover all territory in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Island Areas (American Samoa, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands). Blocks are the smallest geographic areas for which the Census Bureau publishes data from the decennial census. A block may consist of one or more faces.

    Description

This archive contains daily surface meteorological (METDATA) data for the Continental United States at 4-km (1/24-deg) resolution. The meteorological variables are maximum/minimum temperature, precipitation amount and duration, maximum/minimum relative humidity, downward shortwave solar radiation, wind speed and direction, and specific humidity. The method utilized here combines desirable spatial attributes of gridded climate data from PRISM and desirable temporal attributes of regional-scale reanalysis and daily gauge-based precipitation from NLDAS-2 to derive a spatially and temporally complete high resolution gridded dataset of surface meteorological variables for the continental US for 1979-present. Validation of this data suggests that it can serve as a suitable surrogate for landscape-scale ecological modeling across vast unmonitored areas of the US. Some of the original chapters included here were published as volume one o f the Idaho Statistical Abstract, 4th edition, by University of Idaho, Center for Business Development and Research.
