    Description

The U.S. Constitution mandates that the federal government count all persons living in the United States every ten years. The census is critical to states because its results are used to reapportion seats in the U.S. House of Representatives; guide redistricting; and form the basis for allocating federal funds, such as those used for schools, health services, child care, highways, and emergency services.

In response to long-standing concerns about the accuracy of census data and about a possible undercount, a group of researchers conducted the California Neighborhoods Count (CNC) — the first-ever independent, survey-based enumeration to directly evaluate the accuracy of the U.S. Census Bureau's population totals for a subset of California census blocks.

This 2020 research was intended to produce parallel estimates of the 2020 Census population and housing unit totals at the census block level, employing the same items as the census and using enhanced data collection strategies and exploration of imputation methods. Although the CNC was intended to largely replicate census data collection processes, there were a few methodological differences: For example, much of the address canvassing for the 2020 Census was done in-office, whereas the CNC team undertook a complete in-person address-listing operation that included interviews with residents and door-to-door verification of each structure.

In this report, the researchers detail their methodology and present the enumeration results. They compare the 2020 Census counts with the CNC estimates, describe limitations of their data collection effort, and offer considerations for future data collection.

    Description

This web map is provides the data and maps used in the story map Population density and diversity in New Zealand, created by Stats NZ. It uses Statistical Area 1 (SA1) data collected and published as part of the 2018 Census. The web map uses a mapping technique called multi-variate dot density mapping. The data used in the map can be found at this web service - 2018 Census Individual part 1 data by SA1.For questions or comments on the data or maps, please contact info@stats.govt.nz Census Data Quality Notes:We combined data from the census forms with administrative data to create the 2018 Census dataset, which meets Stats NZ’s quality criteria for population structure information. We added real data about real people to the dataset where we were confident the people should be counted but hadn’t completed a census form. We also used data from the 2013 Census and administrative sources and statistical imputation methods to fill in some missing characteristics of people and dwellings.Data quality for 2018 Census provides more information on the quality of the 2018 Census data.An independent panel of experts has assessed the quality of the 2018 Census dataset. The panel has endorsed Stats NZ’s overall methods and concluded that the use of government administrative records has improved the coverage of key variables such as age, sex, ethnicity, and place. The panel’s Initial Report of the 2018 Census External Data Quality Panel (September 2019), assessed the methodologies used by Stats NZ to produce the final dataset, as well as the quality of some of the key variables. Its second report 2018 Census External Data Quality Panel: Assessment of variables (December 2019) assessed an additional 31 variables. In its third report, Final report of the 2018 Census External Data Quality Panel (February 2020), the panel made 24 recommendations, several relating to preparations for the 2023 Census. Along with this report, the panel, supported by Stats NZ, produced a series of graphs summarising the sources of data for key 2018 Census individual variables, 2018 Census External Data Quality Panel: Data sources for key 2018 Census individual variables. The Quick guide to the 2018 Census outlines the key changes we introduced as we prepared for the 2018 Census, and the changes we made once collection was complete. The geographic boundaries are as at 1 January 2018. See Statistical standard for geographic areas 2018.2018 Census – DataInfo+ provides information about methods, and related metadata.Data quality ratings for 2018 Census variables provides information on data quality ratings.

The data we use comes from government agencies and mainstream media. We fill the missing data using regression imputation. The pandemic data comes from the Center for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC) data tracker. As of Nov. 25, 2020, the death toll reached 261k in the U.S.

Adult Ranking is used to assess the possible effects of the national result on its voters’ mental wellness. States that are ranked 1-13 have a lower prevalence of mental illness and higher rates of access to care for adults. The states with higher rank (39-51) indicate that adults have a higher prevalence of mental illness and lower rates of access to care. There are seven measures that makeup Adult Ranking, including any mental illness, disorder, suicided, etc. Physical scientist (2018) is used as the representative of the College group. We extract the data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The spirit of independence and freedom in thinking is particularly important in academic studies and research. The underlying assumption of choosing this factor

is the higher number of physical scientists, the freer academic atmosphere in which people can pursue truth, exercise reasoning, and respect science. Horse racing is one of the oldest of all sports that have taken place in the United States, which provides normous economic, employment, and social contribution for entertainment sector. It represents the traditional economy in the analysis. We use steed sales from USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) as an indicator of the horse racing prosperity, in other prospects, traditional economy.

(2020). Recent collapse of crop belts and declining diversity of US agriculture since 1840. Global Change Biology (in press). The original data used to curate this dataset was derived by Haines et al. (ICPSR 35206) from USDA Agricultural Census archives (https://www.nass.usda.gov/AgCensus/). This dataset builds upon previous work in that crop values are georeferenced and rectified to match 2012 county boundaries, and several inconsistencies in the tabular-formatted data have been smoothed-over. In particular, smoothing included conversion of values of production (e.g. bushels, lbs, typical of 1840-1880 censuses) into values of area (using USDA NASS yield data), imputation of missing values for certain crop x county x year combinations, and correcting values for counties whose crop totals exceeded the possible land area. Please contact the PI, Mike Crossley, with any questions or requests: mcrossley3@gmail.com

2020 Census Block Group Demographics for the SACOG Region. Decennial Census 2020 includes tabulations of housing units, total population and adult population by race and by Hispanic or Latino origin, and total group quarters population. Data are summary statistics for population and housing from a "100% count." The Census Bureau attempts to survey or interview all known addresses. Geographies nationwide can be obtained from Census, with disaggregate geographic detail down to Block-level. Metropolitan Council is publishing files for 2020 Blocks, Block Groups, Tracts, Minor Civil Divisions (MCDs), and school districts. The Decennial Census PL94-171 reports summary statistics on population and housing for use in redistricting. The Census Bureau attempts to survey or interview all known addresses. Still, the data are subject to error. The errors derive from survey data collection (response errors, field follow-up for missing cases) and processing by the Census Bureau (geolocation of population and housing, data coding, compilation processes, and imputation of missing cases). This dataset relates to section 4, Housing Stress, of the Affordability master reports produced by the SA Housing Authority. Each master report covers one Local Government Area and is entitled Housing Affordability Demand and Supply by Local Government Area. Explanatory Notes: Data sourced from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), Census for Population and Housing and it is updated every 5 years in line with the ABS Census. The nature of the income imputation means that the reported proportion may significantly overstate the true proportion. Census housing stress data is best used in comparing results over Censuses (ie did it increase or decrease in an area) rather than using it to ascertain what proportion of households were in rental stress. Income bands are based on household income. High income households can also experience rental stress. These households are included in the total but not identified separately. Data is representative of households in very low, low and moderate income brackets. Please note that there are small random adjustments made to all cell values to protect the confidentiality of data. These adjustments may cause the sum of rows or columns to differ by small amounts from table totals. Field Definitions: LGA Name: 2011 Local Government Areas are an ABS approximation of officially gazetted LGAs as defined by each State and Territory Local Government Department. The boundaries produced for LGAs are constructed from allocations of whole Mesh Blocks and reviewed annually. Tenure Type: This is a consolidation of the census tenure and landlord types. The following definitions have been used: Rented: Private and not stated, this is comprised of rented dwellings (excluding rent free) where the Landlord type is a Real Estate Agent, Person not in the same household or where the Landlord type is not stated Rented: Other, this is comprised of rented dwellings (excluding rent free) where the Landlord type is Employer (Govt or other), Housing cooperative, community, church group, or Residential park (incl caravan parks and marinas) Rented: TOTAL, this is comprised of the sum of Rented: Public, Rented: Private and not stated, and Rented: Other landlord. Please note that this field should be excluded when summing the total households Other tenure types: this is comprised of dwellings that are owned outright, occupied rent free, occupied under a life tenure scheme, other tenure types and tenure type not stated. Total Households: this is comprised of the sum of Being purchased (incl rent, buy), Rented: TOTAL and Other tenure types. Total - Includes all South Australian households. Source: The data was downloaded from data.sa.gov.au and spatialised by the Adelaide Data Hub using the ABS 2011 Local Government Areas dataset.
