The household economic survey (HES) is an annual survey designed to measure the economic wellbeing of New Zealanders. HES has three components: HES income, HES expenditure, and HES net worth. - HES income is the main vehicle, and it is run every year. It includes household income, housing costs, and material wellbeing – this is ‘core’ HES. - HES expenditure includes additional components – an expenditure diary and an expanded household expenditure questionnaire. It runs every three years. - HES net worth includes additional questions on household assets and liabilities. It also runs every three years.

This table contains statistics regarding income and capital of self-employed persons in the Netherlands. A distinction is made between, on the one hand, persons for whom self-employment provides for the main source of income, and on the other hand all persons with income from self-employed work. The number of sources of self-employed income is reported as well. The figures in this table are broken down by type of self-employed person, sector, gender, age, migration background, position in the household, and by income and wealth decile groups.
All statistics in this table are at the individual level, this includes capital; (corporate) assets are summed per household and then assigned to all household members, thus serving as a measure of personal prosperity. The sample date for both population and capital is the first of January of the reporting year. For the older years 2007 up to and including 2010, capital is sampled on the first of January of the year following the reporting year.
The General Business Register (ABR) is used to determine the sector (SBI) of self-employed persons. The ABR has been subject to various trend breaks in the period 2007-2011. This leads to a sharp decrease in the number of self-employed persons in the financial services (sector K) in 2010. Therefore caution is advised when consulting sector trends or comparing numbers across sectors.
Data available for 2007-2016.
Status of the figures: All figures are provisional. Since this table has been discontinued, the status will remain fixed.
Changes as of 2019 March 1: None, the table has been discontinued
When will new figures be published? Not applicable. This table has been replaced, see paragraph 3 for a link to the new table.
The Consumer Expenditure Survey (CE) program provides a continuous and comprehensive flow of data on the buying habits of American consumers. These data are used widely in economic research and analysis, and in support of revisions of the Consumer Price Index. To meet the needs of users, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) produces population estimates (for consumer units or CUs) of average expenditures in news releases, reports, and articles in the Monthly Labor Review. Tabulated CE data are also available on the Internet and by facsimile transmission (see Section XVI. Appendix 5). The microdata are available on CD-ROM as SAS data sets or ASCII text files. These microdata files present detailed expenditure and income data for the Diary component of the CE for 2007. They include weekly expenditure (EXPN), annual income (DTAB) files, and imputed income files (DTID). The data in EXPN, DTAB, and DTID files are categorized by a Universal Classification Code (UCC). The advantage of the EXPN and DTAB files is that with the data classified in a standardized format, the user may perform comparative expenditure (income) analysis with relative ease. The FMLY and MEMB files present data on the characteristics and demographics of CUs and CU members. The summary level expenditure and income information on the FMLY files permits the data user to link consumer spending, by general expenditure category, and household characteristics and demographics on one set of files. Estimates of average expenditures in 2007 from the Diary survey, integrated with data from the Interview survey, are published in Consumer Expenditures in 2007. A list of recent publications containing data from the CE appears at the end of this documentation. The microdata files are in the public domain and, with appropriate credit, may be reproduced without permission. A suggested citation is: “U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Consumer Expenditure Survey, Diary Survey, 2007”.
The Diary survey PUMD are organized into five major data files for each quarter:
1. FMLD - a file with characteristics, income, and summary level expenditures for the household
2. MEMD - a file with characteristics and income for each member in the household
3. EXPD - a detailed weekly expenditure file categorized by UCC
4. DTBD - a detailed annual income file categorized by UCC
5. DTID - a household imputed income file categorized by UCC

Sample survey data [ssd]
A. SURVEY SAMPLE DESIGN Samples for the CE are national probability samples of households designed to be representative of the total U. S. civilian population. Eligible population includes all civilian noninstitutional persons. The first step in sampling is the selection of primary sampling units (PSUs), which consist of counties (or parts thereof) or groups of counties. The set of sample PSUs used for the 2007 sample is composed of 91 areas. The design classifies the PSUs into four categories: • 21 "A" certainty PSUs are Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA's) with a population greater than 1.5 million. • 38 "X" PSUs, are medium-sized MSAs. • 16 "Y" PSUs are nonmetropolitan areas that are included in the CPI. • 16 "Z" PSUs are nonmetropolitan areas where only the urban population data will be included in the CPI. The sampling frame (that is, the list from which housing units were chosen) for the 2007 survey is generated from the 2000 Population Census file. The sampling frame is augmented by new construction permits and by techniques used to eliminate recognized deficiencies in census coverage. All Enumeration Districts (EDs) from the Census that fail to meet the criterion for good addresses for new construction, and all EDs in nonpermit-issuing areas are grouped into the area segment frame. To the extent possible, an unclustered sample of units is selected within each PSU. This lack of clustering is desirable because the sample size of the Diary Survey is small relative to other surveys, while the intraclass correlations for expenditure characteristics are relatively large. This suggests that any clustering of the sample units could result in an unacceptable increase in the within-PSU variance and, as a result, the total variance. Each selected sample unit is requested to keep two 1-week diaries of expenditures over consecutive weeks. The earliest possible day for placing a diary with a household is predesignated with each day of the week having an equal chance to be the first of the reference week. The diaries are evenly spaced throughout the year.

Pensioners' Incomes (PI) contains estimates of the levels, sources and distribution of pensioners' incomes. It also examines the position of single pensioners and pensioner couples, including any dependent children, within the income distribution of the population as a whole. This differs from Households Below Average Income (HBAI) (see SNs 5828 and 7196), where analysis is on a household basis, and includes the income of adults not in the pensioner unit but living in the same household. The PI undertakes a few extra steps beyond the FRS and HBAI data to derive pension income variables.
The PI series is a key source of information used to inform Government thinking on relevant policies and related programmes and projects. Researchers and analysts outside the government use statistics and data to examine topics such as ageing, the distributional impacts of fiscal policies, and pensioner groups' income profiles. The PI estimates are usually based on a sample of around 7,000 adults over State Pension age, who reside in private households in the United Kingdom, taken from the Family Resources Survey (FRS).
The gov.uk Pensioners' Incomes Statistics webpage contains annual reports, accompanying tables, research, and technical papers.
PI data are also available from 1994/95 onwards via the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Stat-Xplore online tool.
Secure Access PI data
The Secure Access version of the PI series (SN 9257) is available from 2007/08 onwards, whereas the standard End User Licence (EUL) data (SN 8503) are available from 2008/09. Unlike the EUL versions, the ages of the head of household and spouse have not been top-coded at 80 years in the Secure Access version. Prospective users of the Secure Access version must fulfil additional requirements beyond those associated with the EUL datasets. The Secure Access version of FRS is held under SN 9256, and the Secure Access version of HBAI is available under SN 7196.

This survey was designed to collect the quantitative data on living conditions in Grenada, and provided the basis for the calculation of the Poverty Line. The comprehensive Survey of Living Conditions (SLC) combined with a survey of household income and expenditure, sought to collect information from households on their buying habits expenditures), income and other characteristics. This information was then used to relate the expenditures and income patterns of consumers (households) to the socio-demographic and other characteristics of those same households.

The sample for the SLC/HBS 2007-2008 in Grenada was selected from a sample frame derived from the 2001 census of population. The expected sample size of approximately 3% of the population of households in Grenada and Carriacou. A two stage stratified systematic random sample selection process was used. At the first stage, Enumeration Districts (EDs) were selected based on a sampling frame constructed from Census Enumeration Districts (EDs). TIn the second stage, one cluster of households was randomly selected from the selected PSU or ED with probability proportional to size (pps sampling). The cluster selected was non-compact in the sense that its members were chosen by systematic random sampling throughout the chosen ED.

Before data entry, all the questionnaires are edited and coded. All questionnaires partially completed, or not properly filled out, were removed from data entry operations if they could not be corrected. The questionnaires were then screened by the supervising Statisticians, before being submitted for data entry.
Overall, a response rate of 85.2% was obtained for the survey. The response rate on the diaries was, however, very low (57.4%) and this posed a huge challenge in the use of the data for the SLC/HBS, as much of the data on food had to be imputed. In general, the data are of good quality, except for the large numbers of non-responses obtained on the diaries.
Nonemployer Statistics is an annual series that provides subnational economic data for businesses that have no paid employees and are subject to federal income tax. The data consist of the number of businesses and total receipts by industry. Most nonemployers are self-employed individuals operating unincorporated businesses (known as sole proprietorships), which may or may not be the owner's principal source of income. The majority of all business establishments in the United States are nonemployers, yet these firms average less than 4 percent of all sales and receipts nationally. Due to their small economic impact, these firms are excluded from most other Census Bureau business statistics (the primary exception being the Survey of Business Owners). The Nonemployers Statistics series is the primary resource available to study the scope and activities of nonemployers at a detailed geographic level. For complementary statistics on the firms that do have paid employees, refer to the County Business Patterns. Additional sources of data on small businesses include the Economic Census, and the Statistics of U.S. Businesses.
