Colourful and easy to use, Bartholomew’s maps became a trademark series. The maps were popular and influential, especially for recreation, and the series sold well, particularly with cyclists and tourists. To begin with, Bartholomew printed their half-inch maps in Scotland as stand-alone sheets known as 'District Sheets' and by 1886 the whole of Scotland was covered. They then revised the maps into an ordered set of 29 sheets covering Scotland in a regular format. This was first published under the title Bartholomew’s Reduced Ordnance Survey of Scotland. The half-inch maps of Scotland formed the principal content for Bartholomew's Survey Atlas of Scotland published in 1895. Bartholomew then moved south of the Border to the more lucrative but competitive market in England and Wales, whilst continuing to revise the Scottish sheets. The first complete coverage of Great Britain at the half-inch scale was achieved by 1903, and this is the layer shown here.The half-inch maps were distinctive for using different layers of colour to represent landscape relief. A subtle and innovative gradation of colour bands were employed for land at different heights. Lighter greens were used for low ground closest to sea-level, darker greens and browns for higher ground, with white used for mountain tops. Whilst layer colouring had been developed in Germany from the 1860s, Bartholomew's development of it was both innovative and influential. John Bartholomew junior (1831-1893) first used the firm's trademark layer colouring in Baddeley’s Thorough Guide to the English Lake District (1880). His son, John George Bartholomew (1860-1920), later went on to refine the style. Bartholomew based their half-inch maps on more detailed Ordnance Survey mapping at one-inch to the mile (1:63,360). The firm had published 'Reduced Ordnance Maps' of Scotland, England and Wales at this scale from the 1890s. These maps were progressively revised and updated with new information. Usually Bartholomew made revisions the sheets right up to the time of publication, so the date of publication is the best guide to the approximate date of the features shown on the map. Interactive map service (http://ims.sea.gov.ua:8081/website/Atlas_forAll_en/viewer.htm), based on GIS database ATLAS has been created by UkrSCES to provide an integrated picture of the modern state of the Black Sea coastal zone. It provides information on the geography of NWBS coastal zone and coastal water areas, as well as data on demography, natural resources, economy and pollution. The work is financed under the auspices of the Ministry for Environmental Protection of Ukraine. ATLAS is organised around several themes and elements, comprising interactive maps, statistical data, and descriptions. The cartography is based on the digital topographic chart of Ukraine (scale 1:500,000) and includes the following thematic layers: * Natural resources, * Protected territories, * Pollution resources, * Recreational potential, * Coastal zone. The main part of the descriptive text of ATLAS is drawn from the results of various studies that were undertaken by UkrSCES from 1993 to 2006. ATLAS allows users to select and display information on the resources, state and condition оf the NWBS coastal zone. This interactive service can be employed not only by experts and those responsible for decision-making, but also by the general public. It represents a major contribution to Ukraine's responsibilities under the Aarhus Convention for access to environmental information.

This website provides interactive mapping of outstanding residential mortgage lending by postcode sector across Great Britain, as published by individual banks, via the Council of Mortgage Lenders. This first iteration of the website - published in January 2014 - uses the most recent bank lending data, which covers the period up to the end of June 2013. I hope to update the website with future data releases, if I have the time. The map is coloured so that there are roughly the same number of areas in each category displayed in the key to the right. It's important to remember that this data release covers only seven major lenders and about three quarters of the mortgage market - it is not the full story but it does give us interesting insights that were previously not possible. The release did not include mortgage lending data for Northern Ireland, so that's why it's not included here. I've included a large interactive map on the home page and if you click below that you can see a full screen map. I've also added in some tabs which show postcode sectors in and around London, Glasgow, Manchester and Cardiff but if you want to find somewhere else you can easily pan and zoom to it via the big map.

Information on the condition of roads in England, as well as other aspects of highways maintenance in the years to March 2020 and March 2021.
The data comes from multiple sources including National Highways (formerly Highways England) and local authorities. Some data from local authorities form part of the Single Data List, making the provision of data a mandatory requirement.
In the period ending March 2021, local authorities in England reported that:
were categorised as red (should have been considered for maintenance).
Of the roads managed by National Highways:
should have been considered for maintenance in period ending March 2021.
Local authorities provided data on a voluntary basis for their amber and green roads for the financial years ending 2020 and 2021. This information was published for ‘A’ roads for the first time in the 2019 release. Where local authorities have provided this information for 2019 to 2020 and 2020 to 2021, this has been included for ‘A’ roads alongside experimental statistics for ‘B’ and ‘C’ roads.
The statistical release does not present maintenance expenditure statistics for 2020 to 2021. This is because the source data for local roads had not been published at the point of production of this release. We are planning to publish an update of maintenance expenditure information alongside ‘Transport Statistics Great Britain 2021’.
Alongside these official statistics, new experimental statistics have also been published in ‘Experimental Statistics: Local Road Condition SCANNER data report, April 2017 to March 2021’, April 2017 to March 2021. This uses the underlying SCANNER data from local authorities to provide more granular analysis of road condition.

It presents information at road level on the condition of local authority managed classified (‘A’ roads, ‘B’ and ‘C’ roads), by condition category. This statistical release provides breakdowns of individual insolvencies in England and Wales, at region, county, unitary authority and local authority levels. It also includes age and gender breakdowns of individual insolvencies at region level. The statistics cover the calendar years 2000 to 2013, including revisions to data from 2000 to 2012 where applicable.
Individual Insolvencies by Region was first published in 2009, covering the period 2000-2008. It has been as designated as Experimental Statistics – new Official Statistics which are undergoing evaluation – each year since then.
In 2013, the Insolvency Service consulted users about the usefulness of these statistics and acted on feedback received. The methods used to produce these statistics are stable and so the Insolvency Service has removed the Experimental Statistics designation.
These statistics will be designated as Official Statistics until they have been assessed by the UK Statistics Authority, who will judge whether they meet the quality standards of National Statistics.
Due to technical difficulties, the Insolvency Service was unable to make the interactive map available to view on its website on the day of release of these statistics.

The current counties of England are defined by the ceremonial counties, a collective name for the county areas to which are appointed a Lord Lieutenant. The office of Lord Lieutenant was created in the reign of Henry VIII. The Lord Lieutenant is the chief officer of the county and representative of the Crown. Whenever the Queen visits an area she will be accompanied by the Lord Lieutenant of that area. Legally the ceremonial counties are defined by the Lieutenancies Act 1997 as ‘Counties and areas for the purposes of the lieutenancies in Great Britain’ with reference to the areas used for local government.
