This Dataset contains five research outputs of this project that were produced on the basis of Hyperspectral data obtained during an acquisition campaign led on Toulouse (France) urban area on July 2015 using Hyspex instrument which provides 408 spectral bands spread over 0.4 – 2.5 μ. Flight altitude lead to 2 m spatial resolution images.
Fields_samples.7z: ESRI Shape Format. Supervised SVN classification results for 600 urban trees according to a 3 level nomenclature: leaf type (5 classes), family (12 & 19 classes) and species (14 & 27 classes). The number of classes differ for the two latter as they depend on the minimum number of individuals considered (4 and 10 individuals per class respectively). Trees positions have been acquired using differential GPS and are given with centimetric to decimetric precision. A randomly selected subset of these trees has been used to train machine SVM and Random Forest classification algorithms. Those algorithms were applied to hyperspectral images using a number of classes for family (12 & 19 classes) and species (14 & 27 classes) levels defined according to the minimum number of individuals considered during training/validation process (4 and 10 individuals per class, respectively). Global classification precision for several training subsets is given by Brabant et al, 2019 (https://www.mdpi.com/470202) in terms of averaged overall accuracy (AOA) and averaged kappa index of agreement (AKIA).
HySPex-2m.7z: full hyperspectral VNIR-SWIR ENVI standard image obtained from the coregistration of both VNIR and SWIR ones through a signal aggregation process that allowed to obtain a synthetic VNIR 1.6 m spatial resolution image, with pixels exactly corresponding to natif SWIR image ones. First, a spatially resampled 1.6 m VNIR image was built, where output pixel values were calculated as the average of the VNIR 0.8 m pixel values that spatially contribute to it. Then, ground control points (GCP) were selected over both images and SWIR one was tied to the VNIR 1.6 m image using a bilinear resampling method using ENVI tool. This lead to a 1.6 m spatial resolution full VNIR-SWIR image.

Human population increase and anthropogenic land-use changes are impacting biodiversity globally. Information on their impacts on urban wildlife is becoming increasingly apparent. Despite an increasing trend in urban wildlife studies, a systematic assessment of mammalian small carnivores in urban areas is lacking. We evaluated urban studies in international peer-reviewed journals using a systematic review process. We assessed urban wildlife publications from 1970–2021 to quantify trends over time regarding the taxonomic family and geographical focus of publications across the globe. Urban small carnivore studies have increased progressively through the decades, with 87.2% of all studies conducted in the last 20 years. Geographically, we found that small carnivore studies were disproportionately conducted, with 77.0% of all studies taking place in either North America (46.5%) or Europe (30.5%). Furthermore, the United States of America (39.8%) and the United Kingdom (11.4%) contributed t..., We carried out a comprehensive literature search to quantify the available research on urban mammalian small carnivores. We compiled data from only international peer-reviewed published journals. Article titles were found using the Google Scholar and Web of Science online search engine databases using the search phrase “"Urban Mammal" OR "Urban Carnivore" AND Mammal†with the following keyword "*" notation: mammal, carnivore, urban, suburban, city, periurban, exurban, residential. In Scopus, articles were found using the search phrase TITLE-ABS-KEY (urban)) AND ((mammal)) AND (carnivore) AND PUBYEAR AFT 1970, following with OR function with different types of urban areas (suburban, city, periurban, exurban, and residential). The search timeframe was limited between 1970 and the end of 2021. Literature resources included in the analysis were only those with a fully accessible abstract. Radiative Transfer Model (RTM) is a key component in microscale building resolving urban climate models (UCM), which are used to simulate the flow within urban area. We use different parameterizations of RTMs in the model system PALM version 6.0 to show how much detail modellers should include in their simulation.
We introduce the output PALM model results for two examples: (1) A simplified urban geometry consisting of an urban crossing (UC) and (2) a realistic urban domain located at the town square Ernst-Reuter-Platz in Charlottenburg in Berlin (ER). The netCDF files contain the radiative flux received by each surface in the domains, including the shortwave (direct and diffuse) radiation as well as the longwave radiation. Also, the data set includes the 3D flow variables (u, v, w) and the potential temperature. The model drivers (input data) for both examples are included as well.

This dataset contains the present-day, global, survey-based, and spatially explicit air-conditioning adoption rate dataset developed in Li et al. (2024), “Enhancing Urban Climate-Energy Modeling in the Community Earth System Model (CESM) through Explicit Representation of Urban Air-conditioning Adoption”, published in Journal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems. It also contains the simulation results analyzed in the article. Details about this dataset (data sources, data collection and processing methods, simulation setup, etc.) are described in the article. The air-conditioning adoption rate dataset is publicly available in tabular, vector, and gridded formats. It is compatible with CESM, and can also be leveraged in other climate and energy modeling applications and socioeconomic or integrated assessment analyses. This dataset may be useful for multiple scientific communities regarding urban climate and energy, impacts, vulnerability, risks, and adaptation applications.
