    Description

    Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) Complete Data Files from 1980 to 2023. Includes data file, STATA data file, SPSS program, SAS program, STATA program, and dictionary. All years compressed into one .zip file due to storage limitations.From IPEDS Complete Data File Help Page (https://nces.ed.gov/Ipeds/help/complete-data-files):Choose the file to download by reading the description in the available titles. Then, click on the link in that row corresponding to the column header of the type of file/information desired to download.To download and view the survey files in basic CSV format use the main download link in the Data File column.For files compatible with the Stata statistical software package, use the alternate download link in the Stata Data File column.To download files with the SPSS, SAS, or STATA (.do) file extension for use with statistical software packages, use the download link in the Programs column.To download the data Dictionary for the selected file, click on the corresponding link in the far right column of the screen. The data dictionary serves as a reference for using and interpreting the data within a particular survey file. This includes the names, definitions, and formatting conventions for each table, field, and data element within the file, important business rules, and information on any relationships to other IPEDS data.For statistical read programs to work properly, both the data file and the corresponding read program file must be downloaded to the same subdirectory on the computer’s hard drive. Download the data file first; then click on the corresponding link in the Programs column to download the desired read program file to the same subdirectory.When viewing downloaded survey files, categorical variables are identified using codes instead of labels. Labels for these variables are available in both the data read program files and data dictionary for each file; however, for files that automatically incorporate this information you will need to select the Custom Data Files option.

    Description

    The Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System, 2010-11 (IPEDS 2010-11), was a study that was part of the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) program; program data is available since 1980 at . IPEDS 2010-11 (https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/) was a cross-sectional survey designed to collect basic data from all postsecondary institutions in the United States and the other jurisdictions. Key statistics produced from IPEDS 2010-11 allowed the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) to describe the size of one of the nation's largest enterprises--postsecondary education-- in terms of students enrolled, degrees and other awards earned, dollars expended, and staff employed. All Title IV institutions were required to respond to IPEDS (see Section 490 of the Higher Education Amendments of 1992 [P.L. 102-325; 20 U.S.C. 1070 et seq.]). IPEDS allowed other, non-Title IV institutions to participate on a voluntary basis, but only about 200 elected to respond.

    Description

    The Fall Enrollment survey is conducted annually by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) as part of the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS). The survey collects student enrollment data by 11 age categories as defined by the Office for Civil Rights (OCR). There are three parts included in this survey. Part A, Enrollment Summary, provides enrollment data by total of men and women and by level and year of study of the student. Part B, Enrollment Summary of Students by Age, comprises all students enrolled for credit by level of study and by sex and age of student. Part C, Clarifying Questions, supplies information on students enrolled in remedial courses, extension divisions, and branches of schools, as well as numbers of transfer students from in-state, out of state, and other countries. There are 268,567 total records in this data file.

    Description

    This dataset contains data from the National Center for Education Statistics' Academic Library Survey, which was gathered every two years from 1996 - 2014, and annually in IPEDS starting in 2014 (this dataset has continued to only merge data every two years, following the original schedule). This data was merged, transformed, and used for research by Starr Hoffman and Samantha Godbey.This data was merged using R; R scripts for this merge can be made available upon request. Some variables changed names or definitions during this time; a view of these variables over time is provided in the related Figshare Project. Carnegie Classification changed several times during this period; all Carnegie classifications were crosswalked to the 2000 classification version; that information is also provided in the related Figshare Project. This data was used for research published in several articles, conference papers, and posters starting in 2018 (some of this research used an older version of the dataset which was deposited in the University of Nevada, Las Vegas's repository).SourcesAll data sources were downloaded from the National Center for Education Statistics website https://nces.ed.gov/.     The Colleges and Universities feature class/shapefile is composed of all Post Secondary Education facilities as defined by the Integrated Post Secondary Education System (IPEDS, http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/), National Center for Education Statistics (NCES, https://nces.ed.gov/), US Department of Education for the 2018-2019 school year. Included are Doctoral/Research Universities, Masters Colleges and Universities, Baccalaureate Colleges, Associates Colleges, Theological seminaries, Medical Schools and other health care professions, Schools of engineering and technology, business and management, art, music, design, Law schools, Teachers colleges, Tribal colleges, and other specialized institutions. Overall, this data layer covers all 50 states, as well as Puerto Rico and other assorted U.S. territories. This feature class contains all MEDS/MEDS+ as approved by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) Homeland Security Infrastructure Program (HSIP) Team. Complete field and attribute information is available in the ”Entities and Attributes” metadata section. Geographical coverage is depicted in the thumbnail above and detailed in the "Place Keyword" section of the metadata. This feature class does not have a relationship class but is related to Supplemental Colleges. Colleges and Universities that are not included in the NCES IPEDS data are added to the Supplemental Colleges feature class when found. This release includes the addition of 175 new records, the removal of 468 no longer reported by NCES, and modifications to the spatial location and/or attribution of 6682 records.

    Description

    This study includes the federal graduation rate for all NCAA member institutions who participated in Division I or Division II sports. It also describes the Graduation Success Rate (GSR) for all Division I institutions and the Academic Success Rate (ASR) of all Division II institutions. The rates included in this study are based on championship sport student-athletes who first began their full-time postsecondary education in academic years 1995-96 through 2008-09.Each cohort was tracked for 6 years for college completion. For example, the graduation status for the latest cohort (2008-09 cohort) was tracked through the spring of 2014. At their core, all three measures are based on a comparison of the number of students who entered a college or university in a given year and the number of those who graduated within six years of their initial enrollment, though each measure has a slightly different cohort definition. Federal graduation rates are based on the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System Graduation Rates (IPEDS-GRS) which is defined as a six-year proportion of those student-athletes who graduated versus those who entered an institution on institutional aid. Federal graduation rates are included for both an institution's student-athletes and its general student body. In addition to the student-athlete data in the graduation-rates data, the Division I Graduation Success Rate (GSR) accounts for student-athletes who transfer into an institution while discounting student-athletes who separate from the institution and would have been academically eligible to compete had they returned. The definition of the Division II Academic Success Rate (ASR) cohort is identical to that of the GSR with the exception that it also includes freshmen who did not receive athletics aid, but did participate in athletics.

    This dataset utilizes the 2020 CIP. The Classification of Instructional Programs was created by the U.S. Department of Education's National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) in 1980. More information can be found on the CIP user site.

    Meta-majors are a framework that categorizes academic programs into broad curricular pathways.

    A crosswalk of meta-major and CIP is available as a dataset: Awards Conferred Meta-Major to Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) Codes.

    An award is conferred to a student by a postsecondary educational institution as official recognition after their successful completion of a program of study.

    A fiscal year (FY) is 12-month period beginning July 1 and ending June 30. Because a fiscal year straddles two different calendar years, the calendar year and fiscal year will not always match. For example, FY 2025 runs from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025.

This dataset includes those locations primarily engaged in forest or grasslands fire fighting, including fire lookout towers if the towers are in current use for fire protection purposes. This dataset includes both private and governmental entities. Locations that serve only administrative function are excluded. Locations serving both administrative and operational functions are included. Includes general medical and surgical hospitals, psychiatric, substance abuse and specialty hospitals such as Children's hospitals, cancer, maternity and rehabilitation hospitals. Other types of hospitals are included if represented in data sets provided by various partners for this compilation. Hospitals operated by the US Department of Veterans Affairs are included. Nursing homes, long term care facilities and Urgent Care facilities are generally excluded. Locations that are administrative offices only are excluded from the dataset.

All years compressed into one .zip file due to storage limitations.From IPEDS Complete Data File Help Page (https://nces.ed.gov/Ipeds/help/complete-data-files):Choose the file to download by reading the description in the available titles. Then, click on the link in that row corresponding to the column header of the type of file/information desired to download.To download and view the survey files in basic CSV format use the main download link in the Data File column.For files compatible with the Stata statistical software package, use the alternate download link in the Stata Data File column.To download files with the SPSS, SAS, or STATA (.do) file extension for use with statistical software packages, use the download link in the Programs column.To download the data Dictionary for the selected file, click on the corresponding link in the far right column of the screen. The data dictionary serves as a reference for using and interpreting the data within a particular survey file. This includes the names, definitions, and formatting conventions for each table, field, and data element within the file, important business rules, and information on any relationships to other IPEDS data.For statistical read programs to work properly, both the data file and the corresponding read program file must be downloaded to the same subdirectory on the computer’s hard drive.
