Approximately 15,200 divorces were registered in Israel during 2022. This reflected a noticeable decrease of around 6.8 percent compared to the previous year. During the observed period, the number of newly divorced couples generally grew. Divorce proceedings in the country are conducted according to the religion of the couple or in family court.

In 2021, the divorce rate among members of the Muslim population in Israel between the ages of 45 and 49 was the highest among the age groups, at 11.3 percent, followed closely by the 50-54 age group in the community, at 11.1 percent. Overall, more than half of all divorcees among the Muslim population in Israel were 35 years of age or older.
