This dataset comprises a list of research papers used for a systematic review and bibliometric analysis (bibliographic coupling analysis) on entrepreneurship research published between 2000 and 2024 (file name: Entrepreneurship_Literature_List_2000to2024_Sakai & Inoue.csv). The list was compiled based on data collected from the Web of Science (WoS), one of the major academic literature databases, on August 20, 2024. The inclusion criteria for the literature were as follows: first, the paper must include at least one of the following terms in its title, abstract, or keywords: “Entrepreneurial Firm(s)”, “start-up(s)”, “venture(s)”, “new venture(s)”, “new business(s)”, “new firm”, “early stage”, “Entrepreneur(s)”, or “Entrepreneurship”. Second, the paper must belong to the “Business” or “Management” category in WoS. Third, the paper type must be an Article, Review Article, Early Access, or Proceeding Paper, and finally, the paper must be written in English. The publication period considered encompasses all literature published from 2000 onwards. Furthermore, in order to utilize high-quality academic research, the selection was narrowed to include only those papers published in 43 top-tier journals ranked 4* in the 2021 edition of the Academic Journal Guide (AJG) and in three leading entrepreneurship journals (Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, and Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal). Based on these selection criteria, a total of 6,278 papers published between 2000 and 2024 were extracted as of August 20, 2024. The aggregate citation count for these papers is 761,831, with an average of 121.35 citations per paper and an h-index of 392. Subsequently, the literature list was further refined by selecting only those papers with an average of at least 15 citations per year, resulting in a final dataset of 1,090 papers, which were analyzed in eight-year intervals (file name: AAOSTransactions_Analyzed Literature List_Sakai & Inoue.xlsx).

Abstract This article presents a systematic review of entrepreneurship research published in the Top six Brazilian Journals of Administration (TBJA) - Revista de Administração de Empresas, Revista de Administração, Revista de Administração Contemporânea, Brazilian Journal of Public Administration, Brazilian Administration Review, and Organização & Sociedade, during the period 2000-2014. It aims to identify gaps and directions for Brazilian entrepreneurship research to become a relevant area within the field of Administration. The results highlighted the following gaps: (i) few entrepreneurship publications within the TBJA; (ii) impact of the TBJA production is low compared to international journals focused exclusively on entrepreneurship; (iii) prevalence of qualitative methodological approaches. As directions, the results show: (i) to give preference to empirical studies carried out by rigorous methodologies (longitudinal, secondary data and experimental design); (ii) realization of empirical studies extending the theoretical basis of the existing literature; (iii) establishment of entrepreneurship research lines in Master/Doctoral Programs. This article contributes theoretically by identifying research gaps and directions, and by conducting a critical analysis of the entrepreneurship research and practice to give a perspective to researchers and first time authors to produce high impact papers.

Purpose Entrepreneurship is acknowledged as an essential factor for economic growth and as a critical force for a more sustainable future. However, knowledge remains vague about the variety of entrepreneurial forms as well as different treatments thereof. The present thesis seeks to strengthen the recognition of entrepreneurship as a multi-faceted phenomenon and shows that even sub-groups of entrepreneurship as in this case social entrepreneurship are rather complex and heavily dependent on the environmental context. Literature Analysis This thesis is rooted in the research streams of social networks analysis, research on social entrepreneurship, institutional theory, and the classification literature of entrepreneurial forms. The goal is to investigate the complexity of the entrepreneurial phenomenon in terms of its classifications, diversity, and dependence on the environmental context. In order to do that entrepreneurship articles in peer-reviewed journals focusing on social network actors (article 1) and all entrepreneurship articles mentioning a specific form of entrepreneurship are analysed (article 2). Next, a historical flashback and typology on social entrepreneurship is provided (article 3) and the national environment in Germany is analysed (article 4). This thesis shows how important it is to distinguish between the different forms of entrepreneurship and paying attention to the environmental context. Research Design The present thesis is of explorative nature and applies a varied set of methodologies starting with two reviews and proceeding with an article using a mixed-methods approach and concluding with a quantitative analysis. Article 1 and Article 2 employs bibliometric analysis to investigate the scientific landscape of the social networks involved in the entrepreneurial process (article 1) and the different forms of entrepreneurship discussed in the scientific literature (article 2). Article 3 applies a ‘Policy Delphi’ in order to identify the elements of the social entrepreneurship definition. Furthermore, factor analysis is applied to extract the different dimensions that describe social entrepreneurship and the intercorrelations are examined. Article 4 employs Logistic Regression to find out how national environmental conditions vary in terms of two different entrepreneurial forms. Results Article 1 shows the importance of social network actors within the entrepreneurial process and draws attention to the variety of entrepreneurial forms. Article 2 presents the different entrepreneurial typologies discussed in academic literature. Moreover, the first two articles provide a description of the scientific landscape. Article 3 reveals the most and least important elements in terms of the definition of social entrepreneurship. Furthermore, the article presents five factors that define social entrepreneurship. Article 4 discloses the difference in governmental funding allocation between entrepreneurs who follow social SDGs and the ones who follow economical SDGs. Implications The present thesis contributes to the entrepreneurship literature by showing how multi-faceted the phenomenon is. The results contribute to the attempt of classification of different forms of entrepreneurship. Furthermore, the results provide insights on the factors of social entrepreneurship and highlight the awareness of the environmental context in defining a specific form of entrepreneurship. The application of institutional theory for two different entrepreneurial forms within one national context highlights the differences within a single national context in contrast to cross-national differences. Finally, the results contribute to practice by providing insights into the variety of entrepreneurial facets and how different there are treated within one national context. These insights allow public policymakers to create new and re-evaluate current programs in terms of their target group.

Abstract This study aimed to carry out a bibliometric analysis of the production on International Entrepreneurship IE based on perspectives of the thematic structure of the field using thematic mapping techniques to model the knowledge produced in it. Data from the scientific production on the subject were collected from Scopus and Web of Science databases. Three thematic maps representing the periods of 1995-2004, 2005-2014 and 2015-2022 were yielded in the study. The discussion of results concludes that IE is a research area that has grown significantly since the second period, showing a considerable increase in publications from 127 in the first period to 1,042 in the second. This increase remained constant reaching 1,934 in the third and final period. The themes that stood out the most and were most representative in the field of IE were: performance of companies in IE, innovation, knowledge, entrepreneurial companies, entrepreneurial orientation, management, strategy, model and export behavior. A conceptual variation of the themes was also observed with the performance theme standing out, maintaining a high representativeness in the three periods analyzed with displacements between the basic themes – transversal – and the driving themes. Another highlight was the capabilities theme, which, over time, resulted in the dynamic capabilities theme. As emerging themes, performance, entrepreneurial orientation, entrepreneurship, impact and management appear. Based on the results and conclusions of this study, a research agenda is proposed.

This study examines the worldwide state of business intelligence (BI) combined with digital technologies in the entrepreneurial ecosystem using a bibliometric method. We obtained a dataset of 1425 papers from 1995 to 2024 from the Scopus database. The study used the bibliometric approach to perform a comprehensive examination of publication patterns, citation networks, highly productive authors, prominent journals, and global collaborations. The findings indicate a notable rise in research productivity and citations in the discipline, particularly after 2019, suggesting an increasing scholarly interest in business intelligence (BI) and digital technology. The report emphasizes the prevalent utilization of phrases such as "digital transformation," "artificial intelligence," and "big data," highlighting the convergence of sophisticated technology and company operations. The study cites the United Kingdom, Italy, and the USA as the primary contributors to the discipline, with significant international cooperation. Furthermore, the research reveals gaps in the existing body of knowledge, indicating potential subjects for future investigation, such as the influence of digital entrepreneurship on sustainable development and the contribution of digital tools to the improvement of business intelligence frameworks. This bibliometric analysis offers useful insights into the changing dynamics of business intelligence (BI) and digital technologies. It provides guidance for future research orientations and has practical consequences for entrepreneurs, researchers, and policymakers. Integrating business intelligence with digital technology is essential for promoting innovation and strategic adaptability in the digital era, ultimately leading to entrepreneurial achievement
