MD/PA Sandy Supplemental Lidar Data Acquisition and Processing Production Task USGS Contract No. G10PC00057 Task Order No. G14PD00397 Woolpert Order No. 74333 CONTRACTOR: Woolpert, Inc. This task is for a high resolution data set of lidar covering approximately 1,845 square miles. The lidar data was acquired and processed under the requirements identified in this task order. Lidar data is a remotely sensed high resolution elevation data collected by an airborne platform. The lidar sensor uses a combination of laser range finding, GPS positioning, and inertial measurement technologies. The lidar systems collect data point clouds that are used to produce highly detailed Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) of the earth's terrain, man-made structures, and vegetation. The task required the LiDAR data to be collected at a nominal pulse spacing (NPS) of 0.7 meters. The final products include classified LAS, one (1) meter pixel raster DEMs of the bare-earth surface in ERDAS IMG Format, and 8-bit intensity images. Each LAS file contains lidar point information, which has been calibrated, controlled, and classified. Additional deliverables include hydrologic breakline data, control data, tile index, lidar processing and survey reports in PDF format, FGDC metadata files for each data deliverable in .xml format, and LAS swath data. Ground conditions: Water at normal levels; no unusual inundation; no snow; leaf off. Coastal tiles 18SVH065720 and 8SVH095690 contain no lidar points as they exist completely in water. A DEM IMG was generated for these two tiles as the digitized hydro breakline assumed the data extent in the area. As such only 2568 LAS and Intensity files will be delivered along with 2570 DEM IMG's.This is a MD iMAP hosted service. This Regional Water Table Surface Contours Upper Glacial Drift Lower Peninsula is a generalized water table surface created by using the existing Wellogic water well database as of March 2021 and using just wells screened in the upper portion of the glacial drift. The elevation of the reported static water level (SWL field) reported on the well logs was calculated by subtracting it from the elevation at each well which was based on a 10-meter DEM. The data also incorporated the elevations of the Great Lakes Shorelines and the elevation of hydraulically appropriate surface water bodies (NHD Plus) that appear to be connected to the regional aquifer system and not perched above the regional water table surface. Contours were derived at a 10 feet contour interval. The original data was mapped for the entire lower peninsula. This Kent County data was clipped out of the peninsula data. The fields found in this dataset are:Field NameDescriptionIdUnique integer in long integer formatContourGroundwater elevation value (feet above mean sea level) in double precision formatContour1Groundwater elevation value (feet above mean sea level) in long integer formatINDEXValues in long integer format that allow different index contours to be flagged, labeled, queried, and/or symbolized.INDEX10Values in long integer format that allow different index contours to be flagged, labeled, queried, and/or symbolized.INDEX5Values in long integer format that allow different index contours to be flagged, labeled, queried, and/or symbolized.Shape_LengthLength of line in feet in double precision formatThis data is used in the North Kent Study Area Data Summary Web App (Item Details). These maps, a product provided by the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC), show the approximate boundaries and classifications of Delaware wetlands as interpreted from leaf-off color infrared aerial photography (1992, 2007, 2017). Statewide wetland maps are used for local and regional site-specific planning and management purposes, and allow for status and trends assessments provide information on the type, amount, location and causes of wetland changes. Wetlands mapping utilizes a standardized wetlands classification scheme which was adapted from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s National Wetlands Inventory (Cowardin, et al. 1979, and 2016 revision for 2017 data). The 1992 data was created by DNREC under contract with Photoscience, Inc. and Environmental Resource, Inc., and in partnership with the National Wetlands Inventory (NWI). The 2007 and 2017 map data we created by DNREC and completed under contract with Virginia Polytechnic Institute and University, Conservation Management Institute, and in coordination with NWI. Methods used meet or exceed NWI procedures and the guidelines of the Federal Geographic Data Committee's Wetland Mapping Standard (document FGDC-STD-015-2009). The 2017 wetlands are identified at a minimum mapping unit of .25 acres with smaller, highly recognizable polygons (e.g., ponds) mapped down to approximately 0.10 acres. Photo interpreters (PIs) identified the wetland targets at a scale of approximately to 1:10,000 with delineations completed at 1:5,000 and, occasionally, larger as necessary. The 2017 mapping used the NWI 2.0 guidelines which incorporate hydrography spatial data (National Hydrography Dataset – NHD) along with wetlands data.2007 Head of Tide wetlands are those salt and freshwater wetlands that have water influenced by the tides and is derived/extracted from the overall 2007 wetland data.2017 High Marsh and Low marsh are wetland polygons identified as either High or Low marsh for the purposes of beginning to track these two estuarine wetland types in response to climate change.2017 High Water Mark is an attempt to depict the high water line along coastal areas.
This service is comprised of multiple layers. The State and County Boundaries layer are bounding lines relating to the political boundary delineation for the State of Delaware New Castle, Kent, and Sussex Counties have come to an agreement on where approximately the county boundaries should fall. The Kent and Sussex County Boundary has monuments which set the boundary line. These monuments have been GPS and points representing these monuments are also included in this service. The municipal boundaries layer is maintained by the Office of State Planning and Coordination. This data set is a central repository of GIS polygons representing the boundaries of incorporated municipalities in the state of Delaware. The Communities layer is comprised of data obtained from each county and merged into a seamless dataset. The polygons represent unincorporated areas within the state such as sub-divisions, neighborhoods and developments.
