    Description

This dataset seeks to encapsulate right of way parcel information for the Los Angeles County Flood Control District(LACFCD). It contains polygons representing each parcel and attribute information information that lists the basic identification information of those parcels. There is also information on the underlying right-of-way map that the parcel polygon and attributes are based on--with a link to that map in the Land Records Information Website. This data is maintained by the Right of Way Section of the Survey/Mapping and Property Management Division of the Department of Public Works. It is drawn to be coincident with the county's landbase linework and thus may not be a true representation of a parcel's boundary. It is intended to be used as a general information tool and is not survey quality.Field ListFacilityThe primary name of the facility this parcel belongs to. Typically the name of the river, stream, or drainage project it is a part of.Parcel_NoThe identification number for a particular parcel within a facility. The parcel number is not necessarilly unique.EstateThe type of estate that the LACFCD holds over a particular parcel. This field will list the following attributes:Fee: The LACFCD owns the parcel outright.Easement: The LACFCD holds an easement over this parcel. The type of easement is not listed in this data. It can usually be found in the linked right of way map or by contacting Right of Way Engineering.Quitclaim: This is a parcel which the LACFCD owned or had an easement over at some point but has now sold, released its claim, or transferred its right of way to another party.Other: This is a catch-all attribute for any sort of relationship that does not fit in the other estate types. One example of this is a permit that grants temporary rights to the LACFCD. Map_NoThe primary right of way map that shows a parcel and that served as the basis for the information shown in the dataset. These maps are maintained and are considered to take precedence over the data in this dataset.MapLinkThis is a link to a a scan of the map, if one exists, listed in the "Map_No" field. These are color scans found in the LA County's Land Records Information Website. Description

This data was created by combining the 2010 Census Block Group file as well as the Legal City Boundaries maintained by the LA County Department of Public Works. In reviewing this overlap, LA County aligned a fairly large number of block group boundaries to city boundaries where those boundaries were identified as being incorrectly misaligned by the Census Bureau. This removed split block groups that did not have any population assigned to them.To support the development of the Countywide Statistical Areas, some split block groups that had multiple parts were “unmerged” so that non-contiguous portions of the split block group could be assigned to different CSAs. Examples include areas of Unincorporated Quartz Hill and Lancaster that have 2 or more CSA names for a single split block group. Those portions are identified as “Parts” and tracked in the “Parts” field. In the City of Los Angeles, the LA City Neighborhood file was overlaid on the Block Groups and boundaries assigned using the centroid of the block group therefore, while the names of the CSAs in LA City match the neighborhood file, the boundaries are not the same.Field Descriptions:BG10 2010 Block Group (7 digits)CT10 2010 Census Tract (6 digits)FIPxx 2010-2020 City Code (5 digit FIPS code - note that Unincorporated is 99037)CITY_TYPE "City" or "Unincorporated"LCITY Legal City NameCSA - Countywide Statistical Area Name (e.g. Community)LABEL Pretty name for LabellingSOURCE CSA sourceBG10FIPxx 2010 - 2020 Split Block Group (Block group and FIP code combined)CT10FIPxx 2010 - 2020 Split Tract (Tract and FIP code combined)DISTRICT 2011 Supervisorial DistrictNOTES Notes relevant to the geographyPART Part number (for non-contiguous split block groups)PARTS Total number of non-contiguous parts (for non-contiguous split block groups)CSA_ID Unique BASA ID - combination of 2016 Split Block Group and Part NumberMERGED Flag if the Split BLock Group was merged into multi-part shapesCITYCOMM - merged values for the legal city, community, and supervisorial districtREMARKS - additional remarks about the source of any changes.

    Description

The 2023 cartographic boundary KMLs are simplified representations of selected geographic areas from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). These boundary files are specifically designed for small-scale thematic mapping. When possible, generalization is performed with the intent to maintain the hierarchical relationships among geographies and to maintain the alignment of geographies within a file set for a given year. Geographic areas may not align with the same areas from another year. Some geographies are available as nation-based files while others are available only as state-based files. State Legislative Districts (SLDs) are the areas from which members are elected to state legislatures. The SLDs embody the upper (senate) and lower (house) chambers of the state legislature. Nebraska has a unicameral legislature and the District of Columbia has a single council, both of which the Census Bureau treats as upper-chamber legislative areas for the purpose of data presentation; there are no data by SLDL for either Nebraska or the District of Columbia. A unique three-character census code, identified by state participants, is assigned to each SLD within a state. In Connecticut, Illinois, Louisiana, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, and Puerto Rico, the Redistricting Data Program (RDP) participant did not define the SLDs to cover all of the state or state equivalent area. In these areas with no SLDs defined, the code "ZZZ" has been assigned, which is treated as a single SLD for purposes of data presentation. The generarlized boundaries in this file are based on the most recent state legislative district boundaries collected by the Census Bureau for the 2022 election year and provided by state-level participants through the RDP.

    Description

The TIGER/Line shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. The All Roads Shapefile includes all features within the MTDB Super Class "Road/Path Features" distinguished where the MAF/TIGER Feature Classification Code (MTFCC) for the feature in MTDB that begins with "S". This includes all primary, secondary, local neighborhood, and rural roads, city streets, vehicular trails (4wd), ramps, service drives, alleys, parking lot roads, private roads for service vehicles (logging, oil fields, ranches, etc.), bike paths or trails, bridle/horse paths, walkways/pedestrian trails, and stairways.
