    The Mayor’s Office utilizes the most recent data to inform decisions about COVID-19 response and policies. The Los Angeles COVID-19 Neighborhood Map visualizes the cases and deaths across 139 neighborhoods in the city. It includes the same data used by the office to spot changes in infection trends in the city, and identify areas where testing resources should be deployed.Data Source:Data are provided on a weekly basis by the LA County Department of Public Health and prepared by the LA Mayor's Office Innovation Team. The data included in this map are on a one-week lag. That means the data shown here are reporting statistics gathered from one week ago. This map will be updated weekly on Mondays. Click on the maps to zoom in, get more details, and see the legends.

    Description: The neighborhoods shown in this dataset are derived from a larger dataset drawn and maintained by the Data Desk, a team of Times reporters and Web developers in downtown L.A. The boundaries have expanded and shifted over time and now cover all of Los Angeles County broken down into 272 neighborhoods.This version of the LA Times boundaries only includes neighborhoods fully or partially within the City of Los Angeles.     Countywide layer which divides the County of Los Angeles into 11 unique areas for planning purposes of the unincorporated areas. This layer is referred to as 'DRP Planning Areas.'The General Plan provides goals and policies to achieve countywide planning objectives for the unincorporated areas, and serves as the foundation for all community-based plans, such as area plans, community plans, and coastal land use plans. Area plans focus on land use and policy issues that are specific to the Planning Area. Community plans cover smaller geographic areas within the Planning Area, and address neighborhood and/or community-level policy issues. Coastal land use plans are components of local coastal programs, and regulate land use and establish policies to guide development in the coastal zone.     PRC 4201 - 4204 and Govt. Code 51175-89 direct the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) to map areas of significant fire hazards based on fuels, terrain, weather, and other relevant factors. These zones, referred to as Fire Hazard Severity Zones (FHSZ), define the application of various mitigation strategies to reduce risk associated with wildland fires. CAL FIRE is remapping Fire Hazard Severity Zones (FHSZ) for State Responsibility Areas (SRA) and Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones (VHFHSZ) recommendations in Local Responsibility Areas (LRA) to provide updated map zones, based on new data, science, and technology. This specific dataset provides FHSZs within SRA lands only, and represents the proposed zones, subject to changes based on local hearings. A subsequent dataset release will provide the actual adopted zones.

    CAL FIRE recognizes the important contribution of various local government entities that contributed data, maps, and comments that were critical components of the FHSZ mapping process.

    This website provides a limited number of Substructure Maps in “pdf” format via GIS polygons representing grids containing URL links. Across various areas of Los Angeles County, paper maps were created by Public Works (PW) and its predecessor Departments to show underground utilities such as cable TV, gas, oil, and telephone lines.

    Though most of these maps are no longer updated, they can be useful as a research resource. Every reasonable effort has been made to assure the accuracy of this data and the maps referenced. Some cities may provide substructure information for the areas not covered by these grids. Additional and more accurate substructure data and information may also be obtained through the utility companies. Before digging, it is strongly advised to contact the Underground Service Alert (DigAlert Express) at www.digalert.org/digexpress.html or by calling 811.

    Population by age groups, race and gender, and the poverty by race is attached to the split tract geography to create this split tract with population and poverty data. Split tract data is the product of 2020 census tracts split by 2023 incorporated city boundaries and unincorporated community/countywide statistical areas (CSA) boundaries as of July 1, 2023. The census tract boundaries have been altered and aligned where necessary with legal city boundaries and unincorporated areas, including shoreline/coastal areas. Census Tract:Every 10 years the Census Bureau counts the population of the United States as mandated by Constitution. The Census Bureau (https://www.census.gov/)released 2020 geographic boundaries data including census tracts for the analysis and mapping of demographic information across the United States. City Boundary:City Boundary data is the base map information for the County of Los Angeles. These City Boundaries are based on the Los Angeles County Seamless Cadastral Landbase. The Landbase is jointly maintained by the Los Angeles County Assessor and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works (DPW). This layer represents current city boundaries within Los Angeles County. The DPW provides the most current shapefiles representing city boundaries and city annexations. True, legal boundaries are only determined on the ground by surveyors licensed in the State of California.Countywide Statistical Areas (CSA): The countywide Statistical Area (CSA) was defined to provide a common geographic boundary for reporting departmental statistics for unincorporated areas and incorporated Los Angeles city to the Board of Supervisors.     Summary: This dataset contains an inventory of City of Los Angeles Sidewalks and related features (Access Ramps, Curbs, Driveways, and Parkways).Background: This inventory was performed throughout 2017 using a combination of G.I.S software, aerial imagery (2014 LARIAC), and a geographic dataset of property/right-of way lines. The dataset has not been updated since its creation.Description: The following provides more detail about the feature classes in this dataset. All features were digitized (“traced”) as observed in the orthophotography (digital aerial photos) and assigned the Parcel Identification Number (PIN) of their corresponding property:Sidewalk (polygon) – represents paved pedestrian walkways. Typical widths are between 3‐6 feet in residential areas and larger and more variable in commercial and high‐density traffic areas.Alley-Sidewalk (polygon) – represents the prevailing walkway or path of travel at the entrance/exit of an alley. Digitized as Sidewalk features but categorized as Alley Sidewalk and assigned a generic PIN value, ALLEY SIDEWALK.Corner Polygon (polygon) - feature created where sidewalks from two streets meet but do not intersect (i.e. at corner lots). There’s no standard shape/type and configurations vary widely. These are part of the Sidewalk feature class.In commercial and high‐density residential areas where there is only continuous sidewalk (no parkway strip), the sidewalk also functions as a Driveway.Driveway (polygon) – represents area that provides vehicular access to a property. Features are not split by extended parcel lot lines except when two adjacent properties are served by the same driveway approach (e.g. a common driveway), in which case they are and assigned a corresponding PIN.Parkway (polygon) – represents the strip of land behind the curb and in front of the sidewalk. Generally, they are landscaped with ground cover but they may also be filled in with decorative stone, pavers, decomposed granite, or concrete. They are created by offsetting lines, the Back of Curb (BOC) line and the Face of Walk (FOW). The distance between the BOC and FOW is measured off the aerial image and rounded to the nearest 0.5 foot, typically 6 – 10 feet.Curb (polygon) – represents the concrete edging built along the street to form part of the gutter. Features are always 6” wide strips and are digitized using the front of curb and back of curb digitized lines. They are the leading improvement polygon and are created for all corner, parkway, driveway and, sidewalk (if no parkway strip is present) features.Curb Ramp, aka Access Ramp (point) – represents the geographic center (centroid) of Corner Polygon features in the Sidewalk feature class. They have either a “Yes” or “No” attribute that indicates the presence or absence of a wheelchair access ramp, respectively.Fields: All features include the following fields...FeatureID – a unique feature identifier that is populated using the feature class’ OBJECTID fieldAssetID – a unique feature identifier populated by Los Angeles City staff for internal usePIND – a unique Parcel Identification Number (PIN) for all parcels within the City of L.A.     The File Wijk- en Buurtkaart 2012 contains the geometry of all municipalities, districts and neighborhoods in the Netherlands, with a number of statistical key figures as an attribute. The boundaries of districts and neighborhoods are based on what the municipalities pass on to Statistics Netherlands. The municipal boundary comes from the BRK of the Land Registry. This third version contains part of the key figures. After this version, no new version will be published for 2012.     Blocks are typically bounded by streets, roads or creeks. In cities, a census block may correspond to a city block, but in rural areas where there are fewer roads, blocks may be limited by other features. The Census Bureau established blocks covering the entire nation for the first time in 1990.There are less number of Census Blocks within Los Angeles County in 2020 Census TIGER/Line Shapefiles, compared in 2010.Updated:1. June 2023: This update includes 2022 November Santa Clarita City annexation and the addition of "Kinneloa Mesa" community (was a part of unincorporated East Pasadena). Added new data fields FIP_CURRENT to CITYCOMM_CURRENT to reflect new/updated city and communities. City/community names and FIP codes of census blocks affected by 2022 November Santa Clarita City annexation are assigned based on the location of block centroids. In June 2023 update, total of 36 blocks assigned to the City of Santa Clarita that were in Unincorporated Valencia and Castaic. Note: This data includes 3 NM ocean (FEAT_TYPE field). There are, however, special cases: — Graphic documents may define areas reserved for industrial or craft activities, in particular those incompatible with the neighbourhood of inhabited areas. — They define, where appropriate, the areas in which the reconstruction of a building destroyed by a disaster is not permitted. — Installations necessary for public facilities, agricultural or forestry operations and the development of natural resources are not covered by the principle of inconstructibility resulting from classification. The areas of the communal map do not always cover the entire communal territory. The areas of the municipality not covered by a sector are represented by an object in order to cover the whole municipality.

    This data set maps the soil-slip susceptibility for several areas in southwestern California. Created using Environmental Systems Research Institute's ARC/INFO software, the data base consists of raster maps containing grid cells coded with soil- slip susceptibility values. In addition, the data set includes the following graphic and text products: (1) postscript graphic plot files containing the soil-slip susceptibility map, topography, cultural data, and a key of the colored map units, and (2) PDF and text files of the Readme (including the metadata file as an appendix) and accompanying text, and a PDF file of the plot files. Intense winter rains commonly generated debris flows in upland areas of southwestern California. These debris flows initiate as small landslides referred to as soil slips. Most of the soil slips mobilize into debris flows that travel down slope at varying speeds and distances. The debris flows can be a serious hazard to people and structures in their paths. The soil-slip susceptibility maps identify those natural slopes most likely to be the sites of soil slips during periods of intense winter rainfall. The maps were largely derived by extrapolation of debris-flow inventory data collected from selected areas of southwestern California. Based on spatial analyses of soil slips, three factors in addition to rainfall, were found to be most important in the origin of soil slips. These factors are geology, slope, and aspect. Geology, by far the most important factor, was derived from existing geologic maps. Slope and aspect data were obtained from 10-meter digital elevation models (DEM). Soil-slip susceptibility maps at a scale of 1:24,000 were derived from combining numerical values for geology, slope, and aspect on a 10-meter cell size for 128 7.5' quadrangles and assembled on 1:100,000-scale topographic maps. The resultant maps of relative soil-slip susceptibility represent the best estimate generated from available debris-flow inventory maps and DEM data.

    Los Angeles County serves as the intermediate level of government that coordinates and communicates disaster response needs between the eighty-eight (88) cities within its geographic boundaries and the State of California. The County is divided into eight Disaster Management Areas (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H) with each city belonging to one of them. Each Disaster Management Area is overseen by a Disaster Management Area Coordinator.Most Disaster Management Areas are comprised of more than one polygon. The polygons are merged in this dataset to form multipart polygons. The Disaster Management Area boundaries follow city boundaries, with the exception of a small portion of Area C. The Mayor’s Office utilizes the most recent data to inform decisions about COVID-19 response and policies. The Los Angeles COVID-19 Neighborhood Map visualizes the cases and deaths across 139 neighborhoods in the city. It includes the same data used by the office to spot changes in infection trends in the city, and identify areas where testing resources should be deployed.Data Source:Data are provided on a weekly basis by the LA County Department of Public Health and prepared by the LA Mayor's Office Innovation Team. The data included in this map are on a one-week lag. That means the data shown here are reporting statistics gathered from one week ago. This map will be updated weekly on Mondays.
