From 1990 to 2024, the population of the city of Rio de Janeiro grew almost every year, from approximately 5.5 million to 6.7 million residents, which is an increase of 22 percent. The data shows several fluctuations; however, these may be attributed to changes in methodology. It is unclear whether the changes shown in the 2022 census are due to counting methodologies, or if it is representative of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Growth of the population The city of Rio de Janeiro has consistently had a higher birth rate than the death rate, although the gap between these two indicators is narrowing. This statistic shows the total population of Brazil from 2019 to 2023, with a forecast through 2029. In 2023, the total population of Brazil was estimated at around 211.7 million inhabitants. Population of Brazil Brazil has a surprisingly low (and decreasing) population growth rate; despite it being home to the largest number of Catholics in the world, the majority of women in Brazil use some form of contraception, which is often government-subsidized or free, even though the Catholic Church retains its stance that the use of contraceptives is inherently wrong. In general, a metropolitan area is a region with a main city at its center and adjacent communities that are all connected by social and economic factors. The largest metro areas in the U.S. are New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. In 2019, there were more women than men in all three of those areas, but Jackson, Missouri was the metro area with the highest share of female population.

About this dataset

Context

The dataset tabulates the Stonewall population over the last 20 plus years. It lists the population for each year, along with the year on year change in population, as well as the change in percentage terms for each year. The dataset can be utilized to understand the population change of Stonewall across the last two decades. For example, using this dataset, we can identify if the population is declining or increasing. If there is a change, when the population peaked, or if it is still growing and has not reached its peak. We can also compare the trend with the overall trend of United States population over the same period of time.

In 2023, the population of Stonewall was 2,535, a 1.16% increase year-by-year from 2022. Previously, in 2022, Stonewall population was 2,506, an increase of 4.37% compared to a population of 2,401 in 2021. Over the last 20 plus years, between 2000 and 2023, population of Stonewall increased by 824. In this period, the peak population was 2,535 in the year 2023. As of January 1, 2025, more than 146 million people were estimated to be residing on the Russian territory, down approximately 30,000 from the previous year. From the second half of the 20th century, the population steadily grew until 1995. Furthermore, the population size saw an increase from 2009, getting closer to the 1995 figures. In which regions do most Russians live? With some parts of Russia known for their harsh climate, most people choose regions which offer more comfortable conditions. The largest share of the Russian population, or 40 million, reside in the Central Federal District. Moscow, the capital, is particularly populated, counting nearly 13 million residents. Russia’s population projections Despite having the largest country area worldwide, Russia’s population was predicted to follow a negative trend under both low and medium expectation forecasts. Under the low expectation forecast, the country’s population was expected to drop from 146 million in 2022 to 134 million in 2036. The medium expectation scenario projected a milder drop to 143 million in 2036. The issues of low birth rates and high death rates in Russia are aggravated by the increasing desire to emigrate among young people. In 2023, more than 20 percent of the residents aged 18 to 24 years expressed their willingness to leave Russia.
