US Postal Service ZIP Code boundaries. This layer was created by Los Angeles County eGIS to align with parcel boundaries.ZIP is an acronym for Zone Improvement Plan.Legal vs. Postal Cities: Many users confuse the name the Post Office delivers mail to (e.g. Van Nuys, Hollywood) as a legal city (in this case Los Angeles), when they are a postal city. The County contains 88 legal cities, and over 400 postal names that are tied to the ZIP Codes. To support usability and geocoding, we have attached the first 3 postal cities to each address, based upon its ZIP Code.The US Postal Service is the authoritative source for ZIP Code data. Documentation

The denominators used to calculate the address ratios are the ZIP code totals. When a ZIP is split by any of the other geographies, that ZIP code is duplicated in the crosswalk file.

**Example: **ZIP code 03870 is split by two different Census tracts, 33015066000 and 33015071000, which appear in the tract column. The ratio of residential addresses in the first ZIP-Tract record to the total number of residential addresses in the ZIP code is .0042 (.42%). The remaining residential addresses in that ZIP (99.58%) fall into the second ZIP-Tract record.

So, for example, if one wanted to allocate data from ZIP code 03870 to each Census tract located in that ZIP code, one would multiply the number of observations in the ZIP code by the residential ratio for each tract associated with that ZIP code.

The TIGER/Line shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. The TIGER/Line shapefiles include both incorporated places (legal entities) and census designated places or CDPs (statistical entities). An incorporated place is established to provide governmental functions for a concentration of people as opposed to a minor civil division (MCD), which generally is created to provide services or administer an area without regard, necessarily, to population. Places always nest within a state, but may extend across county and county subdivision boundaries. An incorporated place usually is a city, town, village, or borough, but can have other legal descriptions. CDPs are delineated for the decennial census as the statistical counterparts of incorporated places. CDPs are delineated to provide data for settled concentrations of population that are identifiable by name, but are not legally incorporated under the laws of the state in which they are located. The boundaries for CDPs often are defined in partnership with state, local, and/or tribal officials and usually coincide with visible features or the boundary of an adjacent incorporated place or another legal entity. CDP boundaries often change from one decennial census to the next with changes in the settlement pattern and development; a CDP with the same name as in an earlier census does not necessarily have the same boundary. The only population/housing size requirement for CDPs is that they must contain some housing and population. The boundaries of most incorporated places in this shapefile are as of January 1, 2019, as reported through the Census Bureau's Boundary and Annexation Survey (BAS). The boundaries of all CDPs were delineated as part of the Census Bureau's Participant Statistical Areas Program (PSAP) for the 2010 Census.

This is the ONS Postcode Directory (ONSPD) for the United Kingdom as at February 2023 in Comma Separated Variable (CSV) and ASCII text (TXT) formats. This file contains the multi CSVs so that postcode areas can be opened in MS Excel. To download the zip file click the Download button. The ONSPD relates both current and terminated postcodes in the United Kingdom to a range of current statutory administrative, electoral, health and other area geographies. This group of layers are a geographic representation of the service boundaries for each of the programs administered by the LA County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS). Each DPSS district office is responsible for tracking and auditing the cases that fall within their boundaries. This alley feature class represents current street centerline lines in the City of Los Angeles. The Mapping and Land Records Division of the Bureau of Engineering, Department of Public Works provides the most current geographic information of the public right of way. The right of way information is available on NavigateLA, a website hosted by the Bureau of Engineering, Department of Public Works. Alley Centerline layer was created in geographical information systems (GIS) software to display alley centerlines. The purpose of the layer is to show the location of the alleys on map products and web mapping applications. The Bureau of Street Services tracks the location of existing alleys that they maintain. Alleys are not dedicated streets, and the use of the road is determined by the Planning Department. Street features in the Street Centerline layer are dedicated. In the Alley Centerline layer, there is no naming convention stored in the corresponding records to identify the names of the alleys. Department of Transportation, LADOT, is working on a naming standard. Note there are Alleys features in the Street Centerline layer are Named Alleys. Since the line features for named alleys are stored in the Street Centerline layer, there are no line features for named alleys in those areas that are geographically coincident in the Alley layer. For a named alley line feature in the Street Centerline layer, the corresponding record contains the street designation field value of ST_DESIG = 20, and there is a name for the alley stored in the STNAME and STSFX fields. Currently the Alley line features in Alley layer do not split the street centerline layer features where they intersect, so there is no intersection point created or maintained in the Intersection layer.List of Fields:ZIP_R: Zip code right.ID: A unique numeric identifier of the line feature.
