TwitterLancaster County's Fire Rescue consists of 18 volunteer fire departments and one career department, with policies and procedures implemented by the County Council appointed 19 member Fire Commission. The size and scope of the county necessitate the continued reliance on a predominant volunteer force. The career staff facilitates the training, record keeping, vehicle maintenance, state, and national incident reporting and serves as a liaison between the Fire Commission and County Government. The Deputies of the Patrol Division are the most visible representatives of the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office as they patrol an estimated 85,000 miles each month. Sheriff Patrols are divided into 3 districts that separate the county. District 1 includes the northern area of the county (Indian Land/Van Wyck). District 2 is comprised of the Lancaster area.
