Updated quarterly, the Landgate Basemap is comprised of simplified cadastre, topographic and road centreline information, and is the perfect backdrop to provide context for projects that require commonly used underlying WA centric location information. The Landgate Basemap provides a stylized (familiar ‘StreetSmart’ style ) layout, current, geo-referenced and view only map base. This is a view only service (i.e no data download capability) and can be viewed in combination with Landgate’s other subscription datasets, SLIP public datasets and other geo-referenced data. Designed for use within GIS and online mapping applications, the tile cached Basemap service introduces faster panning and redrawing of location information commonly used across many sectors. The dataset defines the extents and parameters for each of the GDA94 Landgate project grids. Project grids provide a Transverse Mercator (TM) based standard for the interchange of data for engineering, surveying and mapping projects. Within a project grid, the distance between two points on a plan will be the same as the ground distance to a defined tolerance of 20 parts per million (ppm). This dataset is an index of the availability and extent of Landgate's LiDAR repository only. This public base layer imagery is a whole of State layer configured as a flattened and seamless single service. It can be used as a background in conjunction with other data services to provide a spatial reference. Locate uses the WA Now imagery service and comprises of 1:100k aerial imagery tiles, aboriginal community, regional and town site mosaics, as well as the Perth Metro 'metropolitan' mosaic. This service, particularly the large scale imagery (ie Perth metro, town sites, aboriginal communities) is a delayed deployment and a minimum of 300 days older than the subscription version of WA Now imagery. The dataset covers the State of Western Australia and excludes the Commonwealth jurisdictions of Cocos Keeling Island and Christmas Island. This dataset contains only those land parcel boundaries that were current (integrated) at the time of extraction (ie: does not contain "lodged" land parcels) and excludes easements and other interests. For legal purposes, the extents of Local Government areas (described as Local Government Districts within the relevant legislation) are determined by technical description and are published in the Government Gazette. This dataset should not be used or referred to for legal purposes. Re-description or partial re-description can be gazetted at any time, but changes that affect multiple LGA definitions generally come into effect on the 1st of July following the gazettal. If the LGA change does not affect another LGA, the change can, and generally does take place at the time of Government Gazettal publication. Amendments/changes to the SCDB are formalised at the time specified in the gazettal notice. LGA boundaries do coincide with ward boundaries (where ward systems exist). LGA’s often, but do not have to, coincide with Postal Localities as they are datasets that are independent of one another. Note: For Local Government Areas that include "islands adjacent": this dataset depicts a generalised offshore polygon to encompass islands within a Local Government jurisdiction and does not imply Local Government jurisdiction over the water.
