    Please note: this data is live (updated nightly) to reflect the latest changes in the City's systems of record.Overview of the Data:This dataset is a polygon feature layer with the boundaries of all tax parcels owned by the City of Rochester. This includes all public parks, and municipal buildings, as well as vacant land and structures currently owned by the City. The data includes fields with features about each property including property type, date of sale, land value, dimensions, and more.About City Owned Properties:The City's real estate inventory is managed by the Division of Real Estate in the Department of Neighborhood and Business Development. Properties like municipal buildings and parks are expected to be in long term ownership of the City. Properties such as vacant land and vacant structures are ones the City is actively seeking to reposition for redevelopment to increase the City's tax base and economic activity. The City acquires many of these properties through the tax foreclosure auction process when no private entity bids the minimum bid. Some of these properties stay in the City's ownership for years, while others are quickly sold to development partners. Street Name: The street name where the tax parcel is located. NAME: The street number and street name for the tax parcel. City: The city where the tax parcel is located. Property Class Code: The standardized code to identify the type and/or use of the tax parcel. For a full list of codes, view the NYS Real Property System (RPS) property classification codes guide. Property Class: The name of the property class associated with the property class code. Property Type: The type of property associated with the property class code.     I. OverviewThe City Property system tracks both city owned and trustee properties. It is designed to maintain information from purchase to sale. It is not designed to manage the acquisition process or any other process outside this timeframe.II. SecurityThe system provides several levels of security. Currently the system is in External General Access mode where no login is required. This level provides full access to the property map and read-only access to a limited set of property information on the details page.The login page is accessed through a link located in the upper right corner of all major pages.III. NavigationThe system displays two main pages, the Property Map and the Property Details.1) Property Map Page (Figure 1)a) Map Framei) The Map displays the location of every property in the City’s inventory and indicates the owner or trustee department with a distinct color combination. The map legend (Figure 2) can be displayed by selecting the page’s Filter menu item.ii) The visible extent of the map can be changed by either zooming or dragging the map to the desired location.iii) Clicking on a mapped property will produce a popup window that displays the selected property’s basic information. Figure 1 – Property Map Page Figure 2 – Department Map Legend b) Toolbar The toolbar contains buttons to Zoom In, Zoom Out, Zoom Home, Toggle Imagery and Search for properties. Search results are displayed in the Search Results tab. Figure 3 - Toolbar c) Property List Tabi) The Property List tab displays properties that meet the selected filter criteria and are currently visible in the map frame.ii) Moving the mouse pointer into the property list will cause an arrow to appear on the map indicating the specified property’s location.iii) Changing a filter setting will automatically select the Property List tab. d) Search Results Tabi) The Search Results tab displays properties that were found using the toolbar’s search tool.ii) Moving the mouse pointer into the search results will cause an arrow to appear on the map indicating the specified property’s location.iii) The map will display the properties listed in the tab when it is selected.iv) The tab will be automatically selected when a Search is successfully completed. 2) Property Details Page (Figure 4)The Details Page displays complete property information and is accessed by clicking a single property list item displayed in the Property List tab, Search Results tab, or Map popup window.
