The current system of Local Government in the Republic of Ireland comprises of 31 Local Authorities. Local Government and the right of local self-government is a cornerstone of any modern democracy. Irish Local Authorities are the closest and most accessible form of Government to people in their local community. They also have responsibility for delivery of a wide range of services in their local area with a focus on making towns and cities attractive places to live, work and invest. These services generally include housing; planning; roads; water supply; environmental protection; provision of recreation and amenities and community infrastructure. Local Authorities also play a key role in supporting economic development and enterprise at a local level. Local Government support on the ground is critical to the success of many initiatives which drive local communities. These range from local festivals and events; design of streetscapes and village renewal schemes; support for micro-enterprises, business parks and incubation units; involvement in energy efficiency projects; promotion of rural broadband; planning for major investments in the green economy. These are OS 1:25000 paper maps (approximately 1400) upon which the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (currently Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG)) recorded hand drawn boundaries for permitted, withdrawn and refused mineral planning permissions and worked ground for every local authority area in England. Accompanying the maps is an associated card index (see metadata for MHLG Cards). Priority was placed on areas that were given rise to then current casework issues thus, at the time when the maintenance of the maps ended some authority information had been updated recently but other areas had not been visited for many years. Therefore, the variable completeness of the data should be kept in mind when the material is being used. Both the maps and the card index have been used to create the digital mineral planning permissions polygons (see metadata for MHLG Planning Permission Polygons). Polygons for worked ground have not been captured.
The layers contained here are California State Agencies and Local Transportation Organizations. Each boundary contains the name, address and web site for each office.
California Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) legislative boundaries, primarily for regional planning applications. MPO is a federally mandated and federally funded transportation policy-making organization in the United States that is made up of representatives from local government and governmental transportation authorities. https://gisdata-caltrans.opendata.arcgis.com/datasets/55975bdc89a9456382dbd1fbda98c45a_0
California Regional Transportation Planning Agencies (RTPA) legislative boundaries, primarily for regional planning applications. The State Water Board and the Regional Water Boards have been entrusted with broad duties and powers to preserve and enhance all beneficial uses of the state's immensely complex waterscape. https://gisdata-caltrans.opendata.arcgis.com/datasets/ccbb62df26b84974a87ab3c02b2b4e8d_0
Caltrans Districts The District boundary definitions are primarily based on the county boundaries. There are 12 Caltrans Districts in California. https://gisdata-caltrans.opendata.arcgis.com/datasets/a0f1da19bffe471ea89bd6a241e5604b_0
The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) is part of the California Natural Resources Agency and is responsible for the management and regulation of the State of California's water usage.
California's 35 local Air Districts are responsible for regional air quality planning, monitoring, and stationary source and facility permitting. The districts administer air quality improvement grant programs and are CARB's primary partners in efforts to ensure that all Californians breathe clean air.
The California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) is one of six branches of the California Environmental Protection Agency. California's pioneering clean water act is the 1969 Porter-Cologne Water Quality Control Act (Porter-Cologne Act).[5] Through the Porter-Cologne Act, the State Water Board and the Regional Water Boards have been entrusted with broad duties and powers to preserve and enhance all beneficial uses of the state's immensely complex waterscape. The Porter-Cologne Act is recognized as one of the nation's strongest pieces of anti-pollution legislation, and was so influential that Congressional authors used sections of the Act as the basis for the Federal Clean Water Act.

These are scanned and georeferenced raster versions of the 1400 Ministry of Housing and Local Government (MHLG) Mineral Planning Permissions Maps (see associated metadata). The 1:25000 scale maps recorded hand drawn boundaries for permitted, withdrawn and refused mineral planning permissions and worked ground for every local authority area in England. Accompanying the maps is an associated card index (see metadata for MHLG Cards). The mineral planning permission polygons recorded on the maps have been digitised to create vector GIS polygons (see associated metadata for MHLG Planning Permission Polygons).

Community councils are required to be established by local authorities. They are the most local tier of statutory representation in Scotland. They bridge the gap between local authorities and communities and help to make public bodies aware of the opinions and needs of the communities they represent. Community councils are statutory consultees under various processes, such as for planning applications. There are many instances where polygons do not tessellate or snap to local authority boundaries. The Spatial Hub processing can correct for some minor gap errors (<5m) but not larger ones. Such gaps in the dataset mean that it cannot potentially be used for some kinds of spatial analysis e.g. point in polygon, because some point locations may fall within the gaps. These gaps either require amendment at source or approval for the IS to change. "name", "url" and "status" are now MANDATORY fields for this dataset.
