    Description

The 2015 cartographic boundary KMLs are simplified representations of selected geographic areas from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). These boundary files are specifically designed for small-scale thematic mapping. When possible, generalization is performed with the intent to maintain the hierarchical relationships among geographies and to maintain the alignment of geographies within a file set for a given year. Geographic areas may not align with the same areas from another year. Some geographies are available as nation-based files while others are available only as state-based files. The records in this file allow users to map the parts of Urban Areas that overlap a particular county. After each decennial census, the Census Bureau delineates urban areas that represent densely developed territory, encompassing residential, commercial, and other nonresidential urban land uses. In general, this territory consists of areas of high population density and urban land use resulting in a representation of the "urban footprint." There are two types of urban areas: urbanized areas (UAs) that contain 50,000 or more people and urban clusters (UCs) that contain at least 2,500 people, but fewer than 50,000 people (except in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam which each contain urban clusters with populations greater than 50,000). Each urban area is identified by a 5-character numeric census code that may contain leading zeroes. The primary legal divisions of most states are termed counties. In Louisiana, these divisions are known as parishes. In Alaska, which has no counties, the equivalent entities are the organized boroughs, city and boroughs, municipalities, and for the unorganized area, census areas. The latter are delineated cooperatively for statistical purposes by the State of Alaska and the Census Bureau. In four states (Maryland, Missouri, Nevada, and Virginia), there are one or more incorporated places that are independent of any county organization and thus constitute primary divisions of their states. These incorporated places are known as independent cities and are treated as equivalent entities for purposes of data presentation. The District of Columbia and Guam have no primary divisions, and each area is considered an equivalent entity for purposes of data presentation. The Census Bureau treats the following entities as equivalents of counties for purposes of data presentation: Municipios in Puerto Rico, Districts and Islands in American Samoa, Municipalities in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and Islands in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The entire area of the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Island Areas is covered by counties or equivalent entities. The boundaries for counties and equivalent entities are as of January 1, 2010.

    Description

The Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map (DFIRM) Database depicts flood risk information and supporting data used to develop the risk data. The primary risk classifications used are the 1-percent-annual-chance flood event, the 0.2-percent-annual- chance flood event, and areas of minimal flood risk. The DFIRM Database is derived from Flood Insurance Studies (FISs), previously published Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs), flood hazard analyses performed in support of the FISs and FIRMs, and new mapping data, where available. The FISs and FIRMs are published by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Spatial data is georeferenced to the earth surface using the Transverse Mercator projected coordinate system and the North American Datum of 1983. The specifications for the horizontal control of DFIRM data files are consistent with those required for mapping at a scale of 1:6000.

    Description

Reporting of Aggregate Case and Death Count data was discontinued May 11, 2023, with the expiration of the COVID-19 public health emergency declaration. Although these data will continue to be publicly available, this dataset will no longer be updated.

This archived public use dataset has 11 data elements reflecting United States COVID-19 community levels for all available counties.

The COVID-19 community levels were developed using a combination of three metrics — new COVID-19 admissions per 100,000 population in the past 7 days, the percent of staffed inpatient beds occupied by COVID-19 patients, and total new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population in the past 7 days. The COVID-19 community level was determined by the higher of the new admissions and inpatient beds metrics, based on the current level of new cases per 100,000 population in the past 7 days. New COVID-19 admissions and the percent of staffed inpatient beds occupied represent the current potential for strain on the health system. Data on new cases acts as an early warning indicator of potential increases in health system strain in the event of a COVID-19 surge.

Using these data, the COVID-19 community level was classified as low, medium, or high.

COVID-19 Community Levels were used to help communities and individuals make decisions based on their local context and their unique needs. Community vaccination coverage and other local information, like early alerts from surveillance, such as through wastewater or the number of emergency department visits for COVID-19, when available, can also inform decision making for health officials and individuals.

For the most accurate and up-to-date data for any county or state, visit the relevant health department website. COVID Data Tracker may display data that differ from state and local websites. This can be due to differences in how data were collected, how metrics were calculated, or the timing of web updates.

    Archived Data Notes:

This dataset was renamed from "United States COVID-19 Community Levels by County as Originally Posted" to "United States COVID-19 Community Levels by County" on March 31, 2022.

March 31, 2022: Column name for county population was changed to “county_population”. No change was made to the data points previous released.

March 31, 2022: New column, “health_service_area_population”, was added to the dataset to denote the total population in the designated Health Service Area based on 2019 Census estimate.

March 31, 2022: FIPS codes for territories American Samoa, Guam, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and United States Virgin Islands were re-formatted to 5-digit numeric for records released on 3/3/2022 to be consistent with other records in the dataset.

March 31, 2022: Changes were made to the text fields in variables “county”, “state”, and “health_service_area” so the formats are consistent across releases.

March 31, 2022: The “%” sign was removed from the text field in column “covid_inpatient_bed_utilization”. No change was made to the data. As indicated in the column description, values in this column represent the percentage of staffed inpatient beds occupied by COVID-19 patients (7-day average).

March 31, 2022: Data values for columns, “county_population”, “health_service_area_number”, and “health_service_area” were backfilled for records released on 2/24/2022. These columns were added since the week of 3/3/2022, thus the values were previously missing for records released the week prior.

April 7, 2022: Updates made to data released on 3/24/2022 for Guam, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and United States Virgin Islands to correct a data mapping error.

April 21, 2022: COVID-19 Community Level (CCL) data released for counties in Nebraska for the week of April 21, 2022 have 3 counties identified in the high category and 37 in the medium category. CDC has been working with state officials to verify the data submitted, as other data systems are not providing alerts for substantial increases in disease transmission or severity in the state.

May 26, 2022: COVID-19 Community Level (CCL) data released for McCracken County, KY for the week of May 5, 2022 have been updated to correct a data processing error. McCracken County, KY should have appeared in the low community level category during the week of May 5, 2022. This correction is reflected in this update.

May 26, 2022: COVID-19 Community Level (CCL) data released for several Florida counties for the week of May 19th, 2022, have been corrected for a data processing error. Of note, Broward, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach Counties should have appeared in the high CCL category, and Osceola County should have appeared in the medium CCL category. These corrections are reflected in this update.

May 26, 2022: COVID-19 Community Level (CCL) data released for Orange County, New York for the week of May 26, 2022 displayed an erroneous case rate of zero and a CCL category of low due to a data source error. This county should have appeared in the medium CCL category.

June 2, 2022: COVID-19 Community Level (CCL) data released for Tolland County, CT for the week of May 26, 2022 have been updated to correct a data processing error. The TIGER/Line shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. Census tracts are small, relatively permanent statistical subdivisions of a county or equivalent entity, and were defined by local participants as part of the 2020 Census Participant Statistical Areas Program. The Census Bureau delineated the census tracts in situations where no local participant existed or where all the potential participants declined to participate. The primary purpose of census tracts is to provide a stable set of geographic units for the presentation of census data and comparison back to previous decennial censuses. Census tracts generally have a population size between 1,200 and 8,000 people, with an optimum size of 4,000 people. When first delineated, census tracts were designed to be homogeneous with respect to population characteristics, economic status, and living conditions. The spatial size of census tracts varies widely depending on the density of settlement. Physical changes in street patterns caused by highway construction, new development, and so forth, may require boundary revisions. In addition, census tracts occasionally are split due to population growth, or combined as a result of substantial population decline. Census tract boundaries generally follow visible and identifiable features. They may follow legal boundaries such as minor civil division (MCD) or incorporated place boundaries in some States and situations to allow for census tract-to-governmental unit relationships where the governmental boundaries tend to remain unchanged between censuses. State and county boundaries always are census tract boundaries in the standard census geographic hierarchy. In a few rare instances, a census tract may consist of noncontiguous areas. These noncontiguous areas may occur where the census tracts are coextensive with all or parts of legal entities that are themselves noncontiguous. For the 2010 Census and beyond, the census tract code range of 9400 through 9499 was enforced for census tracts that include a majority American Indian population according to Census 2000 data and/or their area was primarily covered by federally recognized American Indian reservations and/or off-reservation trust lands; the code range 9800 through 9899 was enforced for those census tracts that contained little or no population and represented a relatively large special land use area such as a National Park, military installation, or a business/industrial park; and the code range 9900 through 9998 was enforced for those census tracts that contained only water area, no land area.Informing Worcester is the City of Worcester's open data portal where interested parties can obtain public information at no cost.

Soils of Dukes County per the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service. Survey data from 2003 (version date 2018-01-25). Data compiled via Soil Data Viewer.

The Soil Data Viewer tool was used to generate the classification of Soil Type and Farmland Soil Classifications. The 3 letter codes utilized in earlier soil data reports has been joined to the Soil Type layer via the MUSYM field. The Martha's Vineyard Commission used these data to extract the Prime Agricultural Soils which are used in the MVC's DRI (Development of Regional Impact) Checklist v14 Map B-4.For more details about the Dukes County Soil Survey, visit the NRCS Web Soil Survey website. To learn the distinctions of of the 3 Farmland Soil Classifications, please read this info from the USDA. The 1986 publication of the Dukes County Soil Survey.NOTE: MassGIS does have more recent compilation of the NRCS soil data (downloaded June 2020; publ Nov. 2021). The MVC has not completed a comparison of these two datasets but anticipates the differences to be minimal. Also, given the use of the 2018 version in the MVC's DRI Checklist, for historic purposes, it is important to have this version available to the public.

    Description

Sidewalks Tisbury MA is a simplified version of 'Road Centerlines with Sidewalks' (see those process descriptions below.)The Road Centerlines with Sidewalks were dissolved based on Street Name and the side of the road the sidewalk was on. Once roads were dissolved, 'copy parallel' was used to create the line segments representing the sidewalks. Sidewalks were offset 10ft from the centerline of the road. These data are just for visual representation for use on planning maps. This file contains both the Road Centerline and the Sidewalk representations to provide flexibility with visual display. ...depending on map scale, one may work better than the other. The initial compiling of Road Centerlines with Sidewalks.DOT Year End data obtained on 6/16/2022 from https://gis.massdot.state.ma.us/arcgis/rest/services/Roads/RoadInventoryHistory/MapServer by loading it into ArcPro, filtering for Dukes County, and then using the tool Feature Class to Feature Class. Only where a non-null or non 0 value was entered for Left Sidewalk Width or Right Sidewalk Width were retained. If needed, additional segments were added from the '22 or '17 DOT road centerline file. Side walk exists if the value for Left or Right is >0. A value of 99 was entered by MVC if sidewalk is present but width unknown.A width of > 0 but < 99 was determined by MassDOT. No field verification has been performed to validate sidewalk widths. Width is reported in feet.'Left', 'Right', or 'Both' indicates the side of the road where the sidewalk is present. Side of the road is relative to the segment's From/Start - To/End delineation. All sidewalks are represented by the road's centerline.

For planning purposes only. The overlay zoning districts within West Tisbury MA and Parcel Boundaries. These data are not survey-grade. Each overlay zoning district is presented as its own data layer - so you can turn on or off each district to have more or less clutter on the map. Please see the Town's zoning bylaws for all regulations.See the data layer's attribute table for a brief explanation of how that layer was compiled by the Martha's Vineyard Commission. The parcel bounds were created by CAI Tech. per MassGIS Level 3 parcel data standard. Parcels are fed into the map from the MassGIS ArcGIS OnLine cloud. They update the hosted parcel data typically once a year. See the FY attribute field for the respective year - last updated.

This feature layer contains a zoning layer for each of the 7 towns within Dukes County MA. Most of the data was compiled by the Martha's Vineyard Commission. Older data was created by MAPC staff during the Community Development Plan project in the early 2000s.See dataset's attribute table for last edit date. The date range for edits is wide: 2003 to 2024. The basemap of reference, in some cases (Tisbury) was the current GIS parcel boundary file at time of editing. The other towns seaward extent of zoning will not match the parcel data bounds since a different basemap was referenced at time of editing. The ZoneCode attribute contains the abbreviated zoning name for each district, preceded by the town's ID number. For Zoning Bylaws, see each Town's bylaws website: Aquinnah Chilmark Edgartown Gosnold Oak Bluffs Tisbury West Tisbury
