    Measurement technique
To measure the rank and respective trends, we initially gathered data from the five most recent American Community Survey (ACS) 5-Year Estimates. We then analyzed and categorized the data for each of the origins / ancestries identified by the U.S. Census Bureau. It is possible that a small population exists but was not reported or captured due to limitations or variations in Census data collection and reporting. We ensured that the population estimates used in this dataset pertain exclusively to the identified origins / ancestries and do not rely on any ethnicity classification, unless explicitly required. For further information regarding these estimates, please feel free to reach out to us via email at research@neilsberg.com.

    Description
    About this dataset

    Context

The dataset tabulates the Poland town population over the last 20 plus years. It lists the population for each year, along with the year on year change in population, as well as the change in percentage terms for each year. The dataset can be utilized to understand the population change of Poland town across the last two decades. For example, using this dataset, we can identify if the population is declining or increasing. If there is a change, when the population peaked, or if it is still growing and has not reached its peak. We can also compare the trend with the overall trend of United States population over the same period of time.

    Key observations

In 2023, the population of Poland town was 2,171, a 0.14% increase year-by-year from 2022. Previously, in 2022, Poland town population was 2,168, a decline of 1.09% compared to a population of 2,192 in 2021. Over the last 20 plus years, between 2000 and 2023, population of Poland town decreased by 292. In this period, the peak population was 2,463 in the year 2000. The numbers suggest that the population has already reached its peak and is showing a trend of decline. Source: U.S. Census Bureau Population Estimates Program (PEP).

    Description

The tropospheric NO2 column from Sentinel-5P/TROPOMI (2018–2020) and Aura/OMI (2010–2020) over Poland, notably for 7 major Polish cities, was used to assess the annual variability and the COVID-19 lockdown effect. On a national scale, during lockdown (March–June 2020), strong sources of pollution were found in Katowice and Warszawa, as well as at the power plant in Bełchatów. A gradual drop in OMI NO2 values between March and June was found for all cities and the entire domain of Poland, this being a part of the annual NO2 cycle derived for every year from 2010 to 2020. In fact, the gradual drop of NO2 in the lockdown year was within the typical monthly and annual variability. In March 2020, Kraków showed the highest NO2 reduction rate. A reduction of NO2 was observed in Gdańsk, Wrocław, and Warszawa during every month of the lock-down period. Several factors, including wind speed and direction, temperature, and increased emission sources, can limit the dispersion and removal of NO2. Although meteorological conditions have a significant impact on the annual cycle of NO2 in Poland, it is important to note that anthropogenic emissions remain the primary driver of NO2 concentrations. Therefore, the study concludes that the effect of COVID-19 restrictions on NO2 pollution was negligible and clarifies the current understanding of the COVID-19 effect over Poland, with an emphasis on hotspots in the major Polish cities and their vicinity. This is consistent with our understanding that the reduction of NO2 pollution is seen in cities due to reduced traffic (domestic, municipal, and airborne).

Hispanic or Latino population with Cuban ancestry, Hispanic or Latino population with Mexican ancestry, Hispanic or Latino population with Puerto Rican ancestry, Hispanic or Latino population with Other Hispanic or Latino ancestry, Hispanic or Latino population with Cuban ancestry as Percent of Total Hispanic Population, Hispanic or Latino population with Mexican ancestry as Percent of Total Hispanic Population, Hispanic or Latino population with Puerto Rican ancestry as Percent of Total Hispanic Population, Hispanic or Latino population with Other Hispanic or Latino ancestry as Percent of Total Hispanic Population
    Measurement technique
The data presented in this dataset is derived from the latest U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2017-2021 5-Year Estimates. To measure the two variables, namely (a) Origin / Ancestry for Hispanic population and (b) respective population as a percentage of the total Hispanic population, we initially analyzed and categorized the data for each of the ancestries across the Hispanic or Latino population. It is ensured that the population estimates used in this dataset pertain exclusively to ancestries for the Hispanic or Latino population. For further information regarding these estimates, please feel free to reach out to us via email at research@neilsberg.com.

    Description

The dataset includes raw data on: 1) landscape variables, and 2) the internal structural characteristics of urban flower meadows. The study was conducted in 2021 across all open green areas designated as urban flower meadows (n = 55) in three major Polish cities (each with >290,000 inhabitants): Białystok (BI) (53°07′59″N, 23°09′51″E), Bydgoszcz (CB) (53°07′24.6″N, 18°00′27.43″E), and Łódź (EL) (51°45′00″N, 19°28′00″E), located in the northern, central, and eastern parts of Poland, respectively.Urban flower meadows varied in size and vegetation cover, ranging from approximately 80 m² to 5,000 m². Landscape variables—specifically features of the urban matrix—were characterized based on Urban Atlas 2018 maps (Copernicus, 2020), which describe 20 different types of urban land use (Table S2). These maps were downloaded from the Copernicus servers for Białystok, Bydgoszcz, and Łódź. The internal characteristics of the urban flower meadows were assessed within each area as part of a biodiversity survey.

    Description

Adaptation to climate change is now a popular activity and an important budget item in many cities around the world. The variety of adaptation measures available shows that the link between climate change knowledge and the implementation of adaptation solutions is a complex process influenced by many factors. The aim of the planned project is to find out how and with which methods/tools different social groups translate their expert knowledge on changing climate conditions into local adaptation measures in Polish cities. The produced data set consists of in-depth qualitative interviews recorded in mp3 format and their transcriptions, as well as sets of publicly available data (documents, press releases, reports, descriptions of participatory budget projects) coded related to the research project topics. Sets of coded publicly available data will be successively made accessible during the course of the project for further analysis, for research purposes only.
