Data was pulled from a table in the following Wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_cities_by_population I used Microsoft Excel's PowerQuery function to pull the table from Wikipedia. Lists each city, its rank (based on 2020 population), some data on its area, and population in both 2020 and 2010.

This dataset provides detailed information about the population of all the 300 US Cities for the years 2024 and 2020. It includes the annual population change, population density, and the area of all the US cities.

This dataset contains information about the demographics of all US cities and census-designated places with a population greater or equal to 65,000.

This data comes from the US Census Bureau's 2015 American Community Survey.

This product uses the Census Bureau Data API but is not endorsed or certified by the Census Bureau.

Of the most populous cities in the U.S., San Jose, California had the highest annual income requirement at ******* U.S. dollars annually for homeowners to have an affordable and comfortable life in 2024. This can be compared to Houston, Texas, where homeowners needed an annual income of ****** U.S. dollars in 2024.

This layer presents the locations of major cities within the United States with populations of approximately 10,000 or more, state capitals, and the national capital. Major Cities are locations containing population totals from the 2020 Census. The points represent U.S. Census Places polygons sourced from U.S. Census Bureau 2020 TIGER FGDB (National Sub-State). Attribute fields include 2020 total population from the U.S. Census Public Law 94 data that symbolize the city points using these six classifications: Class Population Range 5 2,500 – 9,999 6 10,000 – 49,999 7 50,000 – 99,999 8 100,000 – 249,999 9 250,000 – 499,999 10 500,000 and over This ready-to-use layer can be used in ArcGIS Pro and in ArcGIS Online and its configurable apps, dashboards, StoryMaps, custom apps, and mobile apps. The data can also be exported for offline workflows. Cite the 'U.S. Census Bureau' when using this data.

This city boundary shapefile was extracted from Esri Data and Maps for ArcGIS 2014 - U.S. Populated Place Areas. This shapefile can be joined to 500 Cities city-level Data (GIS Friendly Format) in a geographic information system (GIS) to make city-level maps.

As of 2024, Austin was rated the city in the United States with the best smart city infrastructure, with an index score of ****. Seattle and New York City followed, with **** and ****, respectively. While Austin and Seattle are both in the top three of the best prepared U.S. cities for a smart city future , New York City ranked eighth, with a general index score of ****.

Actual value and historical data chart for United States Population In The Largest City Percent Of Urban Population

This data set includes cities in the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. These cities were collected from the 1970 National Atlas of the United States. Where applicable, U.S. Census Bureau codes for named populated places were associated with each name to allow additional information to be attached. The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) was also used as a source for additional information. This is a revised version of the December, 2003, data set.

This layer is sourced from maps.bts.dot.gov.

In 2024, the city in the United States with the highest share of parkland was Anchorage, Alaska, where approximately 84 percent of the city was parkland. In second place, with almost half the percentage of parkland was Fremont, California, where 43 percent of the city was parkland.

The monthly mean temperature data presented in this dataset was obtained from the Climate Prediction Center (CPC) Global Land Surface Air Temperature Analysis, which was loaded into Python using xarray. The data was then filtered to include only the latitude and longitude coordinates corresponding to each city in the dataset. In order to select the nearest location to each city, the 'select' method with the nearest point was used, resulting in temperature data that may not be exactly at the city location. The data is presented on a 0.5x0.5 degree grid across the globe.

The temperature data provides a valuable resource for time series analysis, and if you are interested in obtaining temperature data for additional cities, please let me know. I will also be sharing the source code on GitHub for anyone who would like to reproduce the data or analysis.

Census Tracts from the 2020 US Census for New York City clipped to the shoreline. These boundary files are derived from the US Census Bureau's TIGER project and have been geographically modified to fit the New York City base map. Because some census tracts are under water not all census tracts are contained in this file, only census tracts that are partially or totally located on land have been mapped in this file.
