    The Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map (DFIRM) Database depicts flood risk information and supporting data used to develop the risk data. The primary risk classifications used are the 1-percent-annual-chance flood event, the 0.2-percent-annual-chance flood event, and areas of minimal flood risk. The DFIRM Database is derived from Flood Insurance Studies (FISs), previously published Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs), flood hazard analyses performed in support of the FISs and FIRMs, and new mapping data, where available. The FISs and FIRMs are published by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The file is georeferenced to earth's surface using the UTM projection and coordinate system.The specifications for the horizontal control of DFIRM data files are consistent with those required for mapping at a scale of 1:12,000.

    Description

    Aerial distribution surveys are used by marine mammal biologists from FWC and other agencies to determine the seasonal distribution of manatees. Most surveys are conducted from small, four-seat, high-winged airplanes (Cessna 172 or 182) flying at a height of 500-1000 ft at a speed of 70-90 kts. Small helicopters may be used instead of fixed wing aircraft in urban areas or where waters are particularly opaque and hovering may be required. Flights are usually four to six hours long and are most commonly flown every two weeks for two years. The surveys are designed to maximize the manatee counts by concentrating on shallow nearshore waters around the state where manatees and their primary food source, sea grasses, are located. Flight paths curve parallel to the shoreline, and the airplane circles when manatees are spotted until a count of the number of animals in each group is obtained. Offshore waters are usually not surveyed. Dolphin and sea turtle sightings are recorded opportunistically. All aerial data are recorded on paper maps and entered into a GIS shapefile for spatial analysis. GIS is a computer software system for representing data spatially and for conducting spatial analyses. This dataset includes manatee sightings from 24 surveys flown on the following dates: 5 Oct 2018, 29 Oct 2018, 7 Nov 2018, 26 Nov 2018, 11 Dec 2018, 18 Dec 2018, 10 Jan 2019, 16 Jan 2019, 22 Feb 2019, 28 Feb 2019, 7 Mar 2019, 26 Mar 2019, 11 Apr 2019, 24 Apr 2019, 15 May 2019, 23 May 2019, 12 Jun 2019, 26 Jun 2019, 16 Jul 2019, 23 Jul 2019, 6 Aug 2019, 21 Aug 2019, 25 Sep 2019, and 30 Sep 2019. FWC staff members were observers for these flights, and dual observers (two observers, one in the front seat and one in the rear seat) were present on some or all of survey flights. The survey area included Indian River County from the Sebastian Inlet to approximately the Indian River County/St. Lucie County border.

    The Florida Department of Revenue’s Property Tax Oversight(PTO) program collects parcel level Geographic Information System (GIS) data files every April from all of Florida’s 67 county property appraisers’ offices. This GIS data was exported from these file submissions in August 2024. The GIS parcel polygon features have been joined with thereal property roll (Name – Address – Legal, or NAL)file. No line work was adjusted between county boundaries.The polygon data set represents the information property appraisers gathered from the legal description on deeds, lot layout of recorded plats, declaration of condominium documents, recorded and unrecorded surveys.Individual parcel data is updated continually by each county property appraiser as needed. The GIS linework and related attributions for the statewide parcel map are updated annually by the Department every August.     Description

    The Mandatory Phosphate Mine Boundaries layer contains the conceptual boundaries of all active mandatory phosphate mines within Florida by the year 2014. 'Mandatory Phosphate Mines' does not indicate that the area is required to be mined for phosphate; 'Mandatory' refers to the regulatory status of the land. Land mined for phosphate since July 1, 1975 is 'Mandatory', and is required by Florida law to be reclaimed (contoured and re-vegetated). Land mined prior to July 1, 1975 was not required to be reclaimed. This layer provides the mine boundary for mines that are subject to the regulatory requirements of Chapter 378, Part III, F.S. and/or Chapter 373, Part IV. F.S. and Chapter 62C-16, F.A.C. Mandatory phosphate mining occurs primarily in the central Florida phosphate mining district in Polk, Hillsborough, Manatee, and Hardee counties and one mine in North Florida in Hamilton County. This layer was designed to provide the Mining and Mitigation Program with a graphical representation of the Mandatory Phosphate boundaries for planning and management purposes. Because this data is a work in progress, it may contain errors such as missing features, outdated features, overlapping features, erroneous status of features, variations in accuracy, or attribute errors. This layer was created and maintained by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Water Resource Management's Program Support.

    This digital elevation model (DEM) is a part of a series of DEMs produced for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Coastal Services Center's Sea Level Rise and Coastal Flooding Impacts Viewer. The DEMs created for this project were developed using the NOAA National Weather Service's Weather Forecast Office (WFO) boundaries. Because the WFO boundaries can cover large areas, the WFO DEM was divided into smaller DEMs to ensure more manageable file sizes. The Tampa (FL) WFO DEM was split into two smaller DEMs. They are divided along county lines and are: 1. Tampa (FL) WFO - Citrus, Hernando, Pasco, Pinellas, and Hillsborough Counties 2. Tampa (FL) WFO - Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte, and Lee CountiesThis is Tampa Bay file 2 of 2. This metadata record describes the DEM for Tampa (FL) WFO - Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte, and Lee Counties. The DEM includes the best available lidar data known to exist at the time of DEM creation for the coastal areas of Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte, and Lee counties, that met project specifications.The DEM is derived from LiDAR datasets collected for the Florida Department of Emergency Management (FDEM) and the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD). The FDEM LiDAR data for Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte and Lee Counties was collected in 2007 and 2008. Small portions of Manatee and Charlotte Counties were collected in 2005. Hydrographic breaklines used in the creation of the DEM were obtained from FDEM and SWFWMD. In some cases, the National Wetlands Inventory and National Hydrography Dataset were used to supplement breaklines from FDEM and SWFWMD. The DEMs are hydro flattened such that water elevations are less than or equal to 0 meters.The DEM is referenced vertically to the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88) with vertical units of meters and horizontally to the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD83). The resolution of the DEM is approximately 5 meters.The NOAA Coastal Services Center has developed high-resolution digital elevation models (DEMs) for use in the Center's Sea Level Rise And Coastal Flooding Impacts internet mapping application. These DEMs serve as source datasets used to derive data to visualize the impacts of inundation resulting from sea level rise along the coastal United States and its territories.The dataset is provided "as is," without warranty to its performance, merchantable state, or fitness for any particular purpose. The entire risk associated with the results and performance of this dataset is assumed by the user. This dataset should be used strictly as a planning reference and not for navigation, permitting, or other legal purposes.

FWC staff members were observers for these flights. The survey area includes two major rivers in Wakulla County (Wakulla and St. Marks rivers), the nearby Gulf coast waters, and Spring Creek. The study area is confined to the lower 23 km of the St. Marks River beginning at the St. Marks Spring. The study area also includes open Gulf of Mexico waters from the St. Marks River west to Spring Creek.
