TwitterLoudoun County, Office of Mapping and Geographic Information (OMAGI) has a seamless countywide base map geodatabase that can be used as a reference when mapping all other data. Base Map data layers include planimetric (buildings, roads, miscellaneous cultural features), environmental (hydrology, forest cover), and topographic (elevation contours and spot heights) features. Each base map feature has an update date field associated with it which shows the year when that particular feature was last updated.
The countywide remapping project, conducted in two phases, was undertaken to produce the current data set. Phase I, using 2002 Virginia Base Mapping Program digital scanned imagery and Phase II, using 2004 scanned aerial photography, comprises the initial re-map effort. The initial project was completed in 2005 and now undergoes annual updates. The first annual update, Phase III, was derived from 2005 imagery and completed in fall 2006. The second annual update, Phase IV, was derived from 2007 imagery and completed in spring 2007. Phase V of the base map updates was completed in late 2008. Most recent updates were derived from 2024 imagery and completed in Summer 2025.

TwitterBase map page boundaries of the Mat-Su Borough Tax Map Page Index. The entire Borough is divided into a series of "base maps" and "index" or "grid maps". Base maps are given names that represent the geographical area represented (similar to USGS quad mapping) and index maps are numbered sequentially within the base map. The result is a base map with a two-character name (for example: ("WA" for Wasilla) and numbered index maps (usually numbered "1" thru "16"). The Mat-Su Borough tax map set is published using these pages. Furthermore, data such as the PARCELS coverages are divided into smaller files based on map page and later appended together to form one seamless file as part of the data processing procedures.

The Atlas of Canada Base Maps provide coverage of the entire Canadian landmass. Data elements are feature coded and structurally clean. Base map components are available in five scales and a number of data exchange formats. The 1:2 million and 1:7.5 million scales are the primary bases for all Atlas products. The 1:30 million scale data have been generalized from the two larger scales. The data set covers: drainage (coastlines, rivers, lakes), boundaries (federal, provincial, district, dividing lines), transportation (primary and secondary highways, selected ferry routes, rail networks), populated places, national parks. Atlas information is two-dimensional layered vector data.

The base map consists of the city’s basic geographical information and has the highest level of detail used in the urban development area as a whole. The map is also used outside the city’s activities in areas such as planning and planning. By providing the base map as open data, the city opens up for wider use and the possibility of new innovative applications.ContentBasic map includes:

Object types sometimes have attributes that come from domains. Then a value can be represented in a digit instead of saving a string over and over again. During export we have exploded the domains with the suffix “_resolved” so that they can still be seen in plain text.“PURPOSE”:10, “PURPOSE_resolved”:“Småhus — detached”

Complete documentation on the registry map is currently missing. However, Lantmäteriet provides similar products where table names exist. FAQ base map
How can I look at the map without any specific program? Download the zip file and unpack it. Search “GeoJSON viewer” in your browser. For example, http://www.mapshaper.org/. Drag in and drop a GeoJSON file to view it.
Can I use the base map in my CAD system?Plugin/app is available to Autodesk. https://apps.autodesk.com/ACD/en/Detail/Index?id=5...
Can I use the base map in my GIS? QGIS has good support for GeoJSON. ArcMap requires Data Interopability add-on. FME can read and convert.
Can I convert GeoJSON to shape? Several free services are available to convert to shape. Among others, http://www.mapshaper.org/.

The Official Base Map (ABK) covers a map scale of 1 : 5,000 as a topographic base map series. The ABK represents the interface between the property-oriented real estate map and the topographic national map series and is derived exclusively from the information from the real estate cadastre (ALKIS). The ABK is derived in a black and white presentation as a line chart. Status of the data used: 01/01/2023.
