    Description

The Urban Planning Code defines two types of areas for municipal maps: construction sectors and inconstructible sectors. There are, however, special cases: graphical documents may define areas reserved for industrial or craft activities, in particular those incompatible with the neighbourhood of inhabited areas. They shall define, where appropriate, areas in which the reconstruction of a building destroyed by a disaster is not permitted. Installations necessary for public facilities, agricultural or forestry operations and the development of natural resources are not covered by the principle of inconstructibility resulting from classification. The areas of the communal map do not always cover the entire communal territory. The areas of the municipality not covered by a sector are represented by an object in order to cover the whole municipality. The data relates to all areas of communal maps after assembly. This layer is for informational use, the paper zoning plan remains the effective document.

Exterior boundary, Annexation boundary, and County boundary coverages are examined to remove all overshoots, unwanted intersections; insure polygons are closed; and to see that there are no missing or duplicate polygon labels. Each symbolic layer is individually examined for completeness. There is no line duplication in exterior or annexation coverages. MCD's with detached or non-contiguous units (polygons) have the same polygon link/label code in each of their units. Completeness in the checking process is examined through the examination and comparison of all detail collected by County Staff. Sources used included: City Clerks, County Auditor's Office, Washington County Historical Courthouse, MN State Historical Society, Secretary of State, Minnesota Municipal Board, and MNDOT. https://www.co.washington.mn.us/1609/Municipal-Boundaries

State of Maryland municipality boundary dataset.Maryland Department of Planning (MDP) maps annexations from municipalities. This dataset is created and maintained by the Maryland Department of Planning. These boundaries are not intended to serve as a legal description. Fields:MUN_NAME (Municipality Name): Name of Municipality located in Maryland.RESOLUTION_NUMBER (Resolution Number): Local Municipality Annexation Resolution Number.ANNEXATION_DATE (Annexation Date) (DD/MM/YYYY): The Annexation Date field shows when there's been a change in the boundary. This date is known as the “Effective Date” from the municipality. The date 1/1/1997 is used as a default date of when annexation changes were first indicated in the GIS layer and not necessarily of when it was actually annexed. If there's a date of 1/1/1997, it can be assumed that the annexation occurred on this date or before. For example, for Baltimore City, the city boundary was determined hundreds of years ago. Other than that default date, the date will show when the property was annexed. The VA_TOWN dataset is a feature class component of the Virginia Administrative Boundaries dataset from the Virginia Geographic Information Network (VGIN). VA_COUNTY represents the best available city and county boundary information to VGIN.VGIN initially sought to develop an improved locality and town boundary dataset in late 2013, spurred by response of the Virginia Administrative Boundaries Workgroup community. The feature class initially started from the locality boundaries from the Census TIGER dataset for Virginia. VGIN solicited input from localities in Virginia through the Road Centerlines data submission process as well as through public forums such as the Virginia Administrative Boundaries Workgroup and VGIN listservs. Data received were analyzed and incorporated into the VA_COUNTY feature class where locality data were a superior representation of the city or county boundary.

The Africa major infrastructure and human settlements dataset form part of the UNEP/FAO/ESRI Database project that covers the entire world but focuses here on Africa. The maps were prepared by Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI), USA. Most data for the database were provided by the Soil Resources, Management and Conservation Service, Land and Water Development Division of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Italy. This dataset was developed in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), Kenya. The base maps used were the UNESCO/FAO Soil Map of the world (1977) in Miller Oblated Stereographic projection, the DMA Global Navigation and Planning charts for Africa (various dates: 1976-1982) and the Rand-McNally, New International Atlas (1982). All sources were re-registered to the basemap by comparing known features on the basemap those of the source maps. The digitizing was done with a spatial resolution of 0.002 inches. The maps were then transformed from inch coordinates to latitude/longitude degrees. The transformation was done using an unpublished algorithm of the US Geological Survey and ESRI to create coverages for one-degree graticules. The Population Centers were selected based upon their inclusion in the list of major cities and populated areas in the Rand McNally New International Atlas Contact: UNEP/GRID-Nairobi, P.O. Box 30552 Nairobi, Kenya FAO, Soil Resources, Management and Conservation Service, 00100, Rome, Italy ESRI, 380 New York Street, Redlands, CA. 92373, USA The ROADS2 file shows major roads of the African continent The TOWNS2 file shows human settlements and airports for the African continent

    Description

This layer depicts the public transportation lines received through the Esri Community Maps program, USDOT, and publicly available datasets from agencies, municipalities and countries around the world. It is designed to be used with the other World Transit layers in the Living Alas. These layers include:World Transit Agency CentroidsWorld Transit StopsWorld Transit Lines by ModalityThese transit layers can be accessed together through the following resources:World Transit Group LayerWorld Transit Web MapWorld Transit Viewer (Web Mapping Application)The public transit lines are symbolized using color codes (six digit hexadecimal) provided by transit agencies. These colors correspond to many agencies" color designations such as in the Washington DC Metro with the Red, Orange, Blue, Green Yellow and Silver lines. The transit data is received in the General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) format, an open data standard for public transportation data. Each GTFS dataset is a zipped archive of comma-separated files describing the transit services, including the geometry for mapping. Esri converts GTFS datasets into ready-to-use map layers and makes them available as Feature Services in the Living Atlas. Esri Transit map layers include data from Esri Community Maps contributors, the US Department of Transportation, as well as publicly available GTFS datasets. Please note that any data layer fields marked with an "(Esri)" tag have been added by Esri to provide user-friendly translations of GTFS standard values or to add additional context and value. Community Maps GTFS dataThrough the Esri Community Maps Program, transit organizations are able to submit their own GTFS data for use across the ArcGIS platform, giving their data more visibility and accessibility to users.
