    Description

This polygon shapefile represents zip code tabulation areas (ZCTAs) for the state of California. These data were gathered from the 2010 Census demographics update and contain keys for ZCTAs, centroid coordinates, demographic fields for age, gender, race and ethnicity, and housing information including living quarters, institutionalized populations, households and housing units. For the 2010 Census, there were no “XX” or “HH” ZCTAs assigned. Only five-digit ZCTAs were produced, and large unpopulated areas were excluded from the delineations. For the 2010 Census, there is no wall-to-wall national coverage for ZCTAs. Large water bodies and unpopulated land area such as national parks were excluded from the 2010 delineations, and for this reason the Census 2010 product does not have complete national coverage.

    Description

The TIGER/Line shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs) are approximate area representations of U.S. Postal Service (USPS) ZIP Code service areas that the Census Bureau creates to present statistical data for each decennial census. The Census Bureau delineates ZCTA boundaries for the United States, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands once each decade following the decennial census. Data users should not use ZCTAs to identify the official USPS ZIP Code for mail delivery. The USPS makes periodic changes to ZIP Codes to support more efficient mail delivery. The Census Bureau uses tabulation blocks as the basis for defining each ZCTA. Tabulation blocks are assigned to a ZCTA based on the most frequently occurring ZIP Code for the addresses contained within that block. The most frequently occurring ZIP Code also becomes the five-digit numeric code of the ZCTA. These codes may contain leading zeros. Blocks that do not contain addresses but are surrounded by a single ZCTA (enclaves) are assigned to the surrounding ZCTA. Because the Census Bureau only uses the most frequently occurring ZIP Code to assign blocks, a ZCTA may not exist for every USPS ZIP Code. Some ZIP Codes may not have a matching ZCTA because too few addresses were associated with the specific ZIP Code or the ZIP Code was not the most frequently occurring ZIP Code within any of the blocks where it exists. The ZCTA boundaries in this release are those delineated following the 2010 Census.

Adult respondents 18+ who walked for transportation or leisure for at least 150 minutes in the past week. Years covered are from 2013-2014 by zip code. Data taken from the California Health Interview Survey Neighborhood Edition (AskCHIS NE) (http://askchisne.ucla.edu/), downloaded February 2018.AskCHIS Neighborhood Edition is an online data dissemination and visualization platform that provides health estimates at sub-county geographic regions. Estimates are powered by data from The California Health Interview Survey (CHIS). CHIS is conducted by The UCLA Center for Health Policy Research, an affiliate of UCLA Fielding School of Public Health.Health estimates available in AskCHIS NE (Neighborhood Edition) are model-based small area estimates (SAEs).SAEs are not direct estimates (estimates produced directly from survey data, such as those provided through AskCHIS).CHIS data and analytic results are used extensively in California in policy development, service planning and research, and is recognized and valued nationally as a model population-based health survey. Before using estimates from AskCHIS NE, it is recommended that you read more about the methodology and data limitations at: http://healthpolicy.ucla.edu/Lists/AskCHIS%20NE%20Page%20Content/AllItems.aspx. You can go to http://askchisne.ucla.edu/ to create your own account.Produced by The California Health Interview Survey and The UCLA Center for Health Policy Research and compiled by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. "Field Name = Field Definition"Zipcode" = postal zip code in the City of Los Angeles “Percent” = adults ages 18+ who walked for transportation or leisure for at least 150 minutes in the past week"LowerCL" = the lower 95% confidence limit represents the lower margin of error that occurs with statistical sampling"UpperCL" = the upper 95% confidence limit represents the upper margin of error that occurs in statistical sampling "Population" = estimated population 18 and older (denominator) residing in the zip code Notes: 1) Zip codes are based on the Los Angeles Housing Department Zip Codes Within the City of Los Angeles map (https://media.metro.net/about_us/pla/images/lazipcodes.pdf).2) Zip codes that did not have data available (i.e., null values) are not included in the dataset; there are additional zip codes that fall within the City of Los Angeles.3) Zip code boundaries do not align with political boundaries. These data are best viewed with a City of Los Angeles political boundary file (i.e., City of Los Angeles jurisdiction boundary, City Council boundary, etc.) FAQS: 1. Which cycle of CHIS does AskCHIS Neighborhood Edition provide estimates for?All health estimates in this version of AskCHIS Neighborhood Edition are based on data from the 2013-2014 California Health Interview Survey. 2. Why do your population estimates differ from other sources like ACS? The population estimates in AskCHIS NE represent the CHIS 2013-2014 population sample, which excludes Californians living in group quarters (such as prisons, nursing homes, and dormitories). 3. Why isn't there data available for all ZIP codes in Los Angeles? While AskCHIS NE has data on all ZCTAs (Zip Code Tabulation Areas), two factors may influence our ability to display the estimates:A small population (under 15,000): currently, the application only shows estimates for geographic entities with populations above 15,000. If your ZCTA has a population below this threshold, the easiest way to obtain data is to combine it with a neighboring ZCTA and obtain a pooled estimate.A high coefficient of variation: high coefficients of variation denote statistical instability.

    Description

The Justice Equity Services Index (JESI), by Advancement Project California, provides policymakers and advocates with the ability to detect where there are greater or fewer community-based organizations providing the vital services needed to support the communities most impacted by our justice system. The JESI groups service types into four main components to align with the broader service spectrum embraced by initiatives such as Measure J and the ATI Initiative, they include: Health & Wellness, including behavioral and physical health and wellbeing services. Housing & Employment, including housing, shelter, employment, and career training services. Prevention & Intervention, including prevention, reentry, and youth development services. Community Services & Advocacy, including human services, advocacy, and community action services. The JESI offers advocates a comprehensive picture of community-based, justice-related, care-first providers and their functions in L.A. County. Each JESI component also includes a unique score to give a more nuanced view of where there is greater or lesser service capacity for each essential justice-related service. Description

Adult respondents ages 18+ who were ever diagnosed with diabetes by a doctor. Years covered are from 2013-2014 by zip code. Data taken from the California Health Interview Survey Neighborhood Edition (AskCHIS NE) (http://askchisne.ucla.edu/), downloaded February 2018. AskCHIS Neighborhood Edition is an online data dissemination and visualization platform that provides health estimates at sub-county geographic regions. "Field Name = Field Definition"Zipcode" = postal zip code in the City of Los Angeles “Percent” = estimated percentage of adult respondents ages 18+ who were ever diagnosed with diabetes by a doctor"LowerCL" = the lower 95% confidence limit represents the lower margin of error that occurs with statistical sampling"UpperCL" = the upper 95% confidence limit represents the upper margin of error that occurs in statistical sampling "Population" = estimated population 18 and older (denominator) residing in the zip code Notes: 1) Zip codes are based on the Los Angeles Housing Department Zip Codes Within the City of Los Angeles map (https://media.metro.net/about_us/pla/images/lazipcodes.pdf).2) Zip codes that did not have data available (i.e., null values) are not included in the dataset; there are additional zip codes that fall within the City of Los Angeles.3) Zip code boundaries do not align with political boundaries.

Face refers to the areal (polygon) topological primitives that make up MTDB. A face is bounded by one or more edges; its boundary includes only the edges that separate it from other faces, not any interior edges contained within the area of the face. The Topological Faces Shapefile contains the attributes of each topological primitive face. Each face has a unique topological face identifier (TFID) value. Each face in the shapefile includes the key geographic area codes for all geographic areas for which the Census Bureau tabulates data for both the 2020 Census and the annual estimates and surveys. The geometries of each of these geographic areas can then be built by dissolving the face geometries on the appropriate key geographic area codes in the Topological Faces Shapefile.

The Justice Equity Need Index (JENI), by Advancement Project California, offers a means to map out the disparate burden that criminalization and a detention-first justice model place on specific communities. The index includes the following indicators:System Involvement: The system-involved population by ZIP Code results in direct needs for justice equity, as measured by adult and youth probation. Indicators: Adult Probation (per 1,000 people); Youth Probation (per 1,000 people) Inequity Drivers: Root inequities across communities that contribute to racial and economic disparities as seen in incarceration and policing. Indicators: Black, Latinx, AIAN, and NHPI Percentages of Population (average percentile); Unemployment Rate (%); Population aged 25+ without a High School Diploma (%); Population below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (%); Violent Crime Rate (per 1,000 people) Criminalization Risk: Conditions where the criminal justice system has historically taken a detention-first, prevention-last approach. Indicators: Mental Health Hospitalizations (per 1,000 people); Substance Use-Related Hospitalizations (per 1,000 people); Homelessness Rate (per 1,000 people) Learn more at https://www.catalystcalifornia.org/campaign-tools/maps-and-data/justice-equity-need-index.Supervisorial Districts, SPAs, and CSAs determined by ZIP Code centroid.

This alley feature class represents current street centerline lines in the City of Los Angeles. The Mapping and Land Records Division of the Bureau of Engineering, Department of Public Works provides the most current geographic information of the public right of way. The right of way information is available on NavigateLA, a website hosted by the Bureau of Engineering, Department of Public Works. Alley Centerline layer was created in geographical information systems (GIS) software to display alley centerlines. The purpose of the layer is to show the location of the alleys on map products and web mapping applications. The Bureau of Street Services tracks the location of existing alleys that they maintain. Alleys are not dedicated streets, and the use of the road is determined by the Planning Department. Street features in the Street Centerline layer are dedicated. In the Alley Centerline layer, there is no naming convention stored in the corresponding records to identify the names of the alleys. Department of Transportation, LADOT, is working on a naming standard. Note there are Alleys features in the Street Centerline layer are Named Alleys. Since the line features for named alleys are stored in the Street Centerline layer, there are no line features for named alleys in those areas that are geographically coincident in the Alley layer. For a named alley line feature in the Street Centerline layer, the corresponding record contains the street designation field value of ST_DESIG = 20, and there is a name for the alley stored in the STNAME and STSFX fields. Currently the Alley line features in Alley layer do not split the street centerline layer features where they intersect, so there is no intersection point created or maintained in the Intersection layer.List of Fields:ZIP_R: Zip code right.ID: A unique numeric identifier of the line feature. This unique identifier is no longer used and ASSETID is used now instead.AL_DESIG: This value is currently not being used.MAPSHEET: The alpha-numeric mapsheet number, which refers to a valid B-map or A-map number on the Cadastral tract index map. Values: • B, A, -5A - Any of these alpha-numeric combinations are used, whereas the underlined spaces are the numbers.SHAPE: Feature geometry.USER_ID: The name of the user carrying out the edits.CRTN_DT: Creation date of the polygon feature.LST_MODF_DT: Last modification date of the feature.ZIP_L: Zip code left.STNUM: Street identification number. This field is currently not being used.OBJECTID: Internal feature number.LINE_ID: This value is currently not being edited. This used to be an automatically assigned unique ID of the alley centerline line segments.ASSETID: User-defined feature autonumber.AL_ID: This value is the ID of the alley as assigned by Bureau of Street Services, Department of Public Works. This is unique for each alley, but not unique for each alley line segment. This field has not been updated.SHAPE.LEN
