    Description

    CSO attributes and _location information are from a variety of datasets for each state: Connecticut: Beginning with GIS data compiled by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (“CT DEEP”) and displayed on their CSO Right-to-Know site (https://portal.ct.gov/DEEP/Municipal-Wastewater/Combined-Sewer-Overflows-Right-to-Know), EPA filtered the data for the purposes of this map and made corrections based upon updated information available in EPA’s files. EPA’s map only displays municipalities with CSO outfalls, whereas CT DEEP’s map includes municipalities with CSO-related bypasses at their Wastewater Treatment Facilities (but no Combined Sewer Collection System CSO outfalls). EPA’s map only displays CSO outfalls – the point at which CSOs are discharged to the receiving water - whereas CT DEEP’s map includes CSO regulators (the structure through which wastewater and stormwater exits the conveyance pipe towards the Wastewater Treatment Facility). Maine: Service containing both facility and outfall locations permitted under the Maine Pollution Elimination System (MEPDES) and administered by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (MEDEP). The data has been collected using multiple methods over 2 decades under the direction of the Maine DEP GIS Unit. All _location data was quality checked by MEDEP MEPDES Inspectors and GIS Unit staff in 2018. Massachusetts: Attribute and location information from a combination of MassDEP CSOs(https://mass-eoeea.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=08c0019270254f0095a0806b155abcde) (metadata - https://mass-eoeea.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=0262b339c2c74213bdaaa15adccc0e96) and NPDES permits(https://www.epa.gov/npdes-permits/massachusetts-final-individual-npdes-permits).     Description

    These data were collected under a cooperative agreement with the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management (CZM) and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Coastal and Marine Geology Program, Woods Hole Science Center (WHSC). Initiated in 2003, the primary objective of this program is to develop regional geologic framework information for the management of coastal and marine resources. Accurate data and maps of sea-floor geology are important first steps toward protecting fish habitat, delineating marine resources, and assessing environmental changes due to natural or human impacts. The project is focused on the inshore waters (5-30 m deep) of Massachusetts between the New Hampshire border and Cape Cod Bay. Data collected for the mapping cooperative have been released in a series of USGS Open-File Reports (http://woodshole.er.usgs.gov/project-pages/coastal_mass/). This spatial dataset is from the study area located between Duxbury and Hull Massachusetts, and consists of high-resolution geophysics (bathymetry, backscatter intensity, and seismic reflection) and ground validation (sediment samples, video tracklines and bottom photographs). The data were collected during four separate surveys conducted between 2003 and 2007 (NOAA survey H10993 in 2003, USGS-WHSC survey 06012 in 2006, and USGS-WHSC surveys 07001 and 07003 in 2007) and cover more than 200 square kilometers of the inner continental shelf.

    Description

    These data are qualitatively derived interpretive polygon shapefiles defining sediment type and distribution, and physiographic zones of the sea floor from Nahant to Salisbury, Massachusetts. Many of the geophysical data used to create the interpretive layers were collected under a cooperative agreement among the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management (CZM), the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). Initiated in 2003, the primary objective of this program is to develop regional geologic framework information for the management of coastal and marine resources. Accurate data and maps of seafloor-geology are important first steps toward protecting fish habitat, delineating marine resources, and assessing environmental changes because of natural or human effects. The project is focused on the inshore waters of coastal Massachusetts. Data collected during the mapping cooperative involving the USGS have been released in a series of USGS Open-File Reports (https://woodshole.er.usgs.gov/project-pages/coastal_mass/geophydata.html). The interpretations released in this study are for an area extending from the southern tip of Nahant north to Salisbury, Massachusetts. A combination of geophysical and sample data including high-resolution bathymetry and lidar, acoustic-backscatter intensity, seismic-reflection profiles, bottom photographs, and sediment samples was used to create the data interpretations. Most of the nearshore geophysical and sample data (including the bottom photographs) were collected during several cruises between 2000 and 2008.     Description

    Geologic-Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data related to Appalachian National Scenic Trail is delivered in a data package Zip (.zip) file. These data are a product of the NPS Geologic Resources Inventory (GRI) program, which is funded by the Inventory and Monitoring (I&M) Division and administered by the NPS Geologic Resources Division (GRD).Geologic-GIS data for Appalachian National Scenic Trail consists of geologic map footprints of available maps that intersect the 7.5’ quadrangles of interest (QOI) for the park. Each footprint depicts the respective map’s extent and contains information conveying map name, scale, publication year and type. The footprints are joined using a footprint ID as a key to a standalone table that contains a formal map reference, a Boolean showing if GIS data is available, additional map notes, and a URL link t o where the map can be downloaded, if available. Geologic-GIS map footprints are provided in ESRI file geodatabase format supported by a Pro 3.X map (.mapx) file. The Pro 3.x map displays the footprint data in thematic layers categorizing and symbolizing the footprints by publication year, map type, and scale.

    This data set contains the 1995-era or early-date classifications of US coastal zone 65 and can be used to analyze change. This imagery was collected as part of the Multi-Resolution Land Characteristics program in a multi-agency effort to provide baseline multi-scale environmental characteristics and to monitor environmental change. This data set utilized 10 full or partial Landsat scenes which were analyzed according to the Coastal Change Analysis Program (C-CAP) protocol to determine land cover. Note: These data were reprojected from their native projection into North American Datum 1983 (NAD83) / Massachusetts State Plane coordinate system, Mainland Zone (Fipszone 2001) meters by the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management on Oct. 12, 2006.

    Debris flows, debris avalanches, mud flows and lahars are fast-moving landslides that occur in a wide variety of environments throughout the world. They are particularly dangerous to life and property because they move quickly, destroy objects in their paths, and can strike with little warning. The purpose of this map is to show where debris flows have occurred in the conterminous United States and where these slope movements might be expected in the future.

    Description

    These ESI data were collected, mapped, and digitized to provide environmental data for oil spill planning and response. The Clean Water Act with amendments by the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 requires response plans for immediate and effective protection of sensitive resources. The ESI data include information for three main components: shoreline habitats, sensitive biological resources, and human-use resources. ESI MAPS SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR NAVIGATIONAL PURPOSES. Source data used in the development of these regional atlases range from 1900 to 2005 with much of the data dated from the 1980s, 1990s, to 2005. Source data dates are extensively documented in the included metadata and include the following DE_NJ_PA, data range 1969-1995, compiled 1995, HudsonRiver data range 1942-2005, compiled 2005, Massachusetts data range 1978-1998, compiled 1998, New Hampshire data range 1948-2003, compiled 2003, and RI_CT_NY_NJ data range 1900-2001, compiled 1999.

    This atlas update adds data formats to those originally released to accommodate new technologies of digital mapping. The underlying data have not been updated since the atlas publication dates shown. Each ESI atlas listed is provided in a variety of GIS formats, including a personal Geodatabase for use with the ESRI ArcGIS product line. An .mxd file, created in ArcMap 9.3 is also included. This mapping document provides links to all of the data tables and symbolization of the layers using the standardized ESI colors and hatch patterns. Layer files are also supplied. These, together with the associated geodatabase, can be used in other mapping projects to define the symbology and links established in the original ESI .mxd file.

    PDF files of the map pages are also included. These PDFS now have the seasonality pages attached to the appropriate map document. This should make it easier to print and distribute individual maps and insure that the supporting information is always included. The GIS data are also provided in ARC Export .e00 format, as shape files with an ArcView 3.x project and in MOSS format. Database files are included in text and .e00 format. Each area directory contains a readme file which shows the area of coverage and gives a bit more description of the various file formats included.

    This layer is a modified version of the 1:24K USGS DLG-derived political boundaries datalayer provided by NH Granit. Subtle deviations in the linework between this layer and Granit's reflect, 1) NRPC's adoption MassGIS's representation of the state boundary between New Hampshire and Massachusetts using survey points, and, 2) areas where town-originated digital parcel data overlapped, in which case the placement of the town boundary is at the estimated midpoint of the overlap, and the digital parcels were then edge-matched accordingly.


    More significant discrepancies reflect NRPC's corrections of the town boundaries along two key areas:
    • The northern border between Pelham and Hudson: NRPC's depiction agrees with local perambulation records and was reaffirmed through the Towns' joint submission to the U.S. Census Boundary Annexation Survey in 2017.
    • The Summer Street area between Milford and Amherst: NRPC's data reflects the outcome of NH Legislation, HB 1248 (2006), which transferred a portion of territory from Amherst to Milford.
    Lastly, it should be noted that NRPC's mapping of the entire western border of Lyndeborough along Greenfield and Temple reflects the definition of the town line according to the town's digital parcels provided to NRPC by Cartographic Associates in 2015. It diverges profoundly from the border representation in NH Granit and also U.S.Census (which also differ from each other).

    These data were created as part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Office for Coastal Management's efforts to create an online mapping viewer called the Sea Level Rise and Coastal Flooding Impacts Viewer. It depicts potential sea level rise and its associated impacts on the nation's coastal areas. The purpose of the mapping viewer is to provide coastal managers and scientists with a preliminary look at sea level rise and coastal flooding impacts. The viewer is a screening-level tool that uses nationally consistent data sets and analyses. Data and maps provided can be used at several scales to help gauge trends and prioritize actions for different scenarios. The Sea Level Rise and Coastal Flooding Impacts Viewer may be accessed at: https://coast.noaa.gov/slr. This metadata record describes the New Hampshire digital elevation model (DEM), which is a part of a series of DEMs produced for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Office for Coastal Management's Sea Level Rise and Coastal Flooding Impacts Viewer described above. This DEM includes the best available lidar known to exist at the time of DEM creation that met project specifications. This DEM includes data for Rockingham and Strafford Counties. The DEM was produced from the following lidar data sets: 1. 2013 - 2014 USGS Hurricane Sandy Supplemental for NE (RI, MA, NH) 2. 2011 USGS ARRA Lidar for the Northeast: Massachusetts The DEM is referenced vertically to the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88, Geoid12B) with vertical units of meters and horizontally to the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD83). The resolution of the DEM is approximately 3 meters.

    These data were collected under a cooperative agreement with the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management (CZM) and the U.S. Geological Survey, Coastal and Marine Geology Program, Woods Hole Science Center. Initiated in 2003, the primary objective of this program is to develop regional geologic framework information for the management of coastal and marine resources. Accurate data and maps of sea-floor geology are important first steps toward protecting fish habitat, delineating marine reserves, and assessing environmental changes due to natural or human impacts. The project is focused on the inshore waters (5-30 m deep) of Massachusetts between the New Hampshire border and Cape Cod Bay. Data collected for the mapping cooperative have been released in a series of USGS Open-File Reports (https://woodshole.er.usgs.gov/project-pages/coastal_mass/). This spatial dataset is from the Cape Ann and Salisbury Beach Massachusetts project area. The data collected in two separate surveys in 2004 and 2005 and cover approximately 325 square kilometers of the inner continental shelf. High resolution bathymetry and backscatter intensity were collected in 2004 and 2005. Seismic profile data, sediment samples and bottom photography were also collected in 2005.
