    Description

This layer contains both Consolidated Municipal Service Managers (CMSM) & District Social Services Administration Boards (DSABS) based on the 2013 municipal boundary. This layer was built on the full 2013 municipal boundaries: Districts, Single tiers, and Sault Ste Marie Planning Board. The Consolidated Municipal Service Managers (CMSM) and District Social Services Administration Boards (DSSAB) are members of the Ontario Municipal Social Service Association (OMSSA). CMSM is an organization responsible for funding, planning, managing, and delivering human services including learning and child care, employment and income supports, and housing and homelessness prevention programs within specified region in Ontario. There are 47 CMSMs in Ontario that were created as a result of the consolidation of municipal service management that began in 1998. These are primarily made up of upper tier municipalities in southern Ontario and District Social Service Administration Boards (DSSABs) in northern Ontario. Note Indian Reserves were not included in the creation of the boundary. See http://www.e-laws.gov.on.ca/html/regs/english/elaws_regs_980278_e.htm for DSSAB definitions See http://www.e-laws.gov.on.ca/html/regs/english/elaws_regs_980136_e.htm for CMSM definitionsThe original shapefile was compressed using the “Simplify by Polygon (Cartography)” tool with the following specifications applied: Simplification Algorithm: Bend SimplifyReference Baseline: 1.5 KilometersAs a result, there will be some distortion along the shorelines. Please note, this dataset is a modified version of the original Consolidated Municipal Service Manager (CMSM) and District Social Service Administration Board (DSSAB) Boundary File. There are 47 CMSM/DSSAB’s in Ontario, but the original dataset contains 76 map features. This is due to some boundaries consisting of both mainland areas and islands areas. In the modified version there are 47 CMSM/DSSAB boundaries and 47 map features. If an area has both a Land and Island extent, they are displayed as one area with the extent being land. The CMSM of Grey has a different Municipal Service Offices (MSO) for the Land and Island extents. In this dataset, the Land MSO is used.

    Description

View spatial imagery of Ontario captured by satellite or airplane. Background Every five years, the Ministry of Natural Resources coordinates projects to photograph high resolution imagery of settled areas of the province. Geospatial Ontario (GEO) acquires, maintains, and distributes this high-resolution imagery collected across Ontario. From 2013 to 2023, public and private sector organizations partnered with Ontario to share in the costs of acquiring aerial imagery. Project participants included: * other Ontario ministries * municipalities * federal agencies * conservation authorities * non-government organizations (NGOs) * private companies Starting in 2024, GEO will fully fund imagery acquisitions. All imagery will be released openly and available to everyone as soon as the imagery is ready as a mappable product. Technical information This record includes all collections of digital orthophotography which are currently open to the public. Collections are differentiated by year of acquisition and region of the province covered. Orthophotographs are primarily taken during the spring in leaf-off/low-leaf conditions. All orthophotography is available as GeoTIFFs with the following bands of spectral information: * red * green * blue * near-infrared Pixel size is consistent within collections but varies between collections, ranging from a minimum of 16 cm to a maximum of 50 cm. Open imagery access restrictions Starting in 2024, most orthophotography acquisitions will be made available under the Open Government Licence. This only applies to orthophotography collections where Ontario owns the intellectual property rights. Description

The map shows the location of the six hydrogeological regions in Canada and the location of observation wells. The terrain composition is also shown on the map, which includes crystalline rocks, mixed crystalline rocks, folded sedimentary rocks and flat lying sedimentary rocks. The southern limit of continuous permafrost zone and the limit of the discontinuous permafrost zone appear on the map. Canada has been divided into six hydrogeological regions on the basis of similarities of geology, climate, and topography. These six hydrogeological regions are (1) the Appalachians, covering the area of New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and the Gaspé and Eastern Townships of Quebec; (2) the St. Lawrence Lowlands, covering Anticosti Island, the extreme southern area of Quebec, and the southern part of Ontario; (3) the Canadian Shield, lying north of the St. Lawrence Lowlands and extending northward to a line joining the north end of Lake Winnipeg to Anticosti Island; (4) the Interior Plains, lying approximately south of the southern limit of discontinuous permafrost and consisting largely of the southern prairie regions of the provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta; (5) the Cordilleran Region, the mountainous part of western Canada within British Columbia; and (6) the Northern Region, approximately covering the area north of the southern limit of discontinuous permafrost. To monitor the groundwater flow systems and fluctuations in these hydrogeological regions a series of groundwater observation wells and piezometers have been established in various parts of Canada, as is shown on the map. The groundwater observation well map indicates the extent of provincial observation well and piezometer networks in Canada. Because of scale limitations, the symbols on the map may indicate more than one well. These wells and piezometers have been established in the southern part of Canada to monitor groundwater fluctuations and may also be used to monitor groundwater quality. Since this region of Canada has the largest population density, groundwater is of more immediate interest here. In the areas of discontinuous and continuous permafrost little has been done at present to monitor groundwater conditions, although this is changing as mineral exploration looks north for new reserves.

    Description

This dataset shows areas where outdoor fires are restricted in accordance with the Forest Fires Prevention Act. There are two reasons why a restricted fire zone is in effect:

outdoor conditions are extremely dry the number of fires occurring has stretched firefighting resources to capacity

A restricted fire zone is a temporary measure for extreme situations and is lifted as soon as conditions permit.

The Forest Fire Info Map shows active fires, current fire danger and restricted fire zones in place due to high fire danger.
