    Description

This dataset contain the parcels from the Maricopa County Assessor's office. The area covered is in Maricopa County (Phoenix metro area), Arizona. Major cities include Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa and Tempe. Various types of property usage are depicted in this layer. The most common are residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural properties. Multiple sources were used to collect the information including but not limited to CAD packages, aerial photography, and digitizing from paper maps. Adjustments are made where necessary in the process of updating and some parcel lines are only approximate. In cases where a line adjustment might create a loss of landsize it is typically taken out from the right of way to minimize the loss of landsize in the property. The line symbology for different property lines are not available in this dataset. In addition to standard fields the data has unique assessor parcel number for identification, basic temporal information and the location of property.

    Description

This is one of a series of earth fissure maps prepared by the Arizona Geological Survey ( AZGS ) in accordance with Ariz. Rev. Stat. 27-152.01(3). AZGS collected location information from previously conducted earth fissure studies, reviewed available remote-sensing aerial and satellite imagery, and conducted surface site investigations throughout the study area. A reasonable effort was made to identify all earth fissures in the study area. Nonetheless, some fissures may remain unmapped as a result of one or more of the following: 1) existing fissures may have been masked by construction or agricultural activities; 2) incipient fissures may lack clear surface expression; 3) the surface expression of fissures changes constantly as new earth fissures develop and old earth fissures fill in. A blank area on the map does not guarantee earth fissures are not present. However, blank areas within the study area boundary have been investigated, and no surface evidence of fissures was found as of the date of map publication. Determining the presence or absence of a fissure at any specific site may require additional mapping and/or geotechnical analysis.

    Description

The Ecological Survey of Central Arizona (ESCA) is an extensive field survey and integrated inventory designed to capture key ecological indicators of the CAP LTER study area consisting of the urbanized, suburbanized, and agricultural areas of metropolitan Phoenix, and the surrounding Sonoran desert. The survey is conducted every five years at approximately 200 sample plots (30m x 30m) that were located randomly using a tessellation-stratified dual-density sampling design. Study plots cover habitats throughout the CAP LTER study area ranging from native Sonoran desert sites to residential yards to an airport tarmac. In 2010, the survey was expanded to include an assessment of residential parcels overlapping the survey plot at sites in residential areas. Many of the same variables that are measured in the 30m x 30m survey plot are measured in the parcel, including an inventory of perennial plants, and the biovolume of trees. In addition, a detailed assessment of characteristics of the parcel is performed. Investigators interested in data from the broader Ecological Survey of Central Arizona that includes all survey plots should should search the data catalog for 'ecological survey of central arizona' or 'survey 200' to locate those and other data related to the CAP LTER's ESCA.
