Town zoning districts for all 7 towns within Dukes County MA. These zoning extents have been mapped over the years (starting in the early 2000s) based upon written descriptions in the town's bylaws. A variety of basemap references and vintages have been used to map the extents of these zones. Data are for planning purposes only and are not survey-grade.This web map also contains Tisbury's "Management Areas" within their Waterfront/Commercial District. These sub-areas are described in detail in the Town's zoning bylaws. The Dukes County Towns include: Aquinnah, Chilmark, Edgartown, Gosnold, Oak Bluffs, Tisbury, and West Tisbury. The Martha's Vineyard Commission makes all efforts to keep these data up to date and as accurate as possible. Please contact the MVC if you believe the data contain inadvertent errors or omissions. The date of last GIS edit is contained within the attribute table of the zoning data. The parcel data are served out by MassGIS and updated by the Town's parcel data consultant. The MVC does not edit or maintain parcel data for any of the Dukes County Towns.

MassGIS Level 3 Parcel Data: Data Fiscal Year: Aquinnah 2019, Chilmark 2020, Edgartown 2021, Gosnold 2015, Oak Bluffs 2021, Tisbury 2021, West Tisbury 2021.Building Info Table: Acquired by MVC from Town Assessors in FY20.Downloaded from MassGIS,, this polygon file represents the parcel bounds for the 7 towns in Dukes County MA (Aquinnah, Chilmark, Edgartown, Godnold, Oak Bluffs, Tisbury, West Tisbury). Each town has their own parcel data consultant and then the data are forwarded to MassGIS for final processing. All data comply with the MassGIS Level 3 Parcel Data Standard. This file geodatabase only includes the TaxPar feature class and Assess table for each town. All TaxPar feature classes were appended into one feature class (Parcels_duk) by the MVC.Each assess table is utilized in that town's respective relationship join (1 to Many) for linking the parcel polygon to the related record(s) in the Assess table. The Assess Table contains info about ownership and assessed values. This is not a detailed building table. If there are multiple owners associated with a property, then the Assess table will have multiple records for that property/parcel (such as for condo parcels). Each building table is utilized in that town's respective relationship join (1 to Many) for linking the parcel polygon to the related record(s) in the Bldg table. The Bldg (building) table contains info about each building on the parcel (such as number of bedrooms, number of bathrooms, the living area square footage, etc.). NOTES of CAUTION: The Living Area Square Footage may not represent the exact same thing in each town. As a generalization, Living Area is interior space that is heated. Regarding West Tisbury, their building table only contains info for one building on the parcel. It is uncertain at this time if the info is the most recent, most primary, or some kind of summarization where multiple buildings on a parcel exist. The field of [assess_mYB] represents the Minimum/Earliest Year Built for any building on the parcel and is appended to the TaxPar feature class based on an analysis of the info provided in the building table. This field [assess_mYB] is utilized in the Historic Structures App found in ArcGIS OnLine.

    Description

The Tisbury zoning GIS feature layer was created from on-screen digitizing of the official Tisbury Zoning map to the FY20 parcel lines. The GIS work was completed by the Martha's Vineyard Commission. The 'official Tisbury Zoning map' was created by Schoefield Barbini & Hone to the best of their ability based on the information they had at that time. Please visit the Town's website for their zoning bylaws. The overlay zoning districts are described within the Town's zoning bylaws. Some overlay zones are regarded as DCPCs (Districts of Critical Planning Concern). DCPCs are initially created and adopted by the Martha's Vineyard Commission (MVC) (the regional planning agency for Dukes County) and then adopted by the Town. The Town may choose to amend the language adopted by the MVC but only to make it more restrictive. Some overlay zones are enforced by the Board of Health and language for those zones may not appear in the Town's bylaws. The overlay zones have been compiled by the MVC from a variety & vintages of basemaps over the years based on the language within the Town's bylaws. See the attributes in the feature layer for date of last GIS edit and notes regarding compilation. The Town's parcel data is compiled by CAI Technologies per the MassGIS Level 3 parcel data standard. These data are then delivered to MassGIS for public sharing. The parcel data layer within this webmap is a direct feed from the MassGIS ArcGIS OnLine cloud. Whenever MassGIS pushes an update of the Tisbury parcels to the AGOL cloud, the parcel bounds within this webmap will automatically reflect the latest update. The property information associated with the parcel bounds is a static export and only updated at the time the parcel bounds are updated by CAI Technologies. For the most current property information, please see the Assessor's online parcel property interactive map. This website is maintained by CAI Technologies per their contract with the Town.

U.S. Counties & Equivalent EntitiesThis feature layer, utilizing National Geospatial Data Asset (NGDA) data from the U.S. Census Bureau, depicts U.S. Counties and their equivalent entities. Per the USCB, "The primary legal divisions of most states are termed counties. In Louisiana, these divisions are known as parishes. In Alaska the equivalent entities are the organized boroughs, city and boroughs, municipalities, and census areas. There are county equivalents for data presentation: Municipios - Puerto Rico, Districts and islands - American Samoa, Municipalities - Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and islands in the U.S. Virgin Islands. In Maryland, Missouri, Nevada, and Virginia, there are one or more incorporated places that are independent of any county organization and, thus, constitute primary divisions of their states. These incorporated places are known as independent cities and are treated as equivalent entities for purposes of data presentation. The District of Columbia and Guam have no primary divisions, and each area is considered an equivalent entity for purposes of data presentation in decennial censuses. All of the counties in Connecticut and Rhode Island and nine counties in Massachusetts were dissolved as functioning governmental entities; however, the Census Bureau continues to present data for these historical entities in order to provide comparable geographic units at the county level of the geographic hierarchy for these states and represents them as nonfunctioning legal entities in data products."Mercer County, New JerseyData currency: This cached Esri federal service is checked weekly for updates from its enterprise federal source (TIGERweb/State_County) and will support mapping, analysis, data exports and OGC API – Feature access.NGDAID: 76 (Series Information for County and Equivalent Entities National TIGER/Line Shapefiles, Current)OGC API Features Link: (U.S. Counties & Equivalents) copy this link to embed it in OGC Compliant viewersFor more information, please visit: States, Counties, and Statistically Equivalent EntitiesFor feedback please contact: Esri_US_Federal_Data@esri.comNGDA Data SetThis data set is part of the NGDA Governmental Units, and Administrative and Statistical Boundaries Theme Community. Per the Federal Geospatial Data Committee (FGDC), this theme is defined as the "boundaries that delineate geographic areas for uses such as governance and the general provision of services (e.g., states, American Indian reservations, counties, cities, towns, etc.), administration and/or for a specific purpose (e.g., congressional districts, school districts, fire districts, Alaska Native Regional Corporations, etc.), and/or provision of statistical data (census tracts, census blocks, metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas, etc.). Boundaries for these various types of geographic areas are either defined through a documented legal description or through criteria and guidelines. Other boundaries may include international limits, those of federal land ownership, the extent of administrative regions for various federal agencies, as well as the jurisdictional offshore limits of U.S. sovereignty. Boundaries associated solely with natural resources and/or cultural entities are excluded from this theme and are included in the appropriate subject themes."For other NGDA Content: Esri Federal Datasets
